Sad to see it all gone. I lived directly in front of the PX and across from the Top Hat from 94 to 96. Had a ball. Retired now but Sullivan was my favorite duty station ever.
Wow....I was stationd there in 1982 to 1985....the tank that went off the bridge....the guy was my room mate for a short time...I watched him tear through the housing area....Keefer was his name...I enjoyed watching
I was an Army Dependent at BFV from June 1979 till October 1982.. Are you talking about the guy who drove off the bridge into the Rhine River ?? I was there outside the Bowling Alley when they brought the Tank back to Base on a really large Flatbed trailer.. I'll never forget that , water was still draining out and the Main Gun Barrel was bent almost like a "J ".. To see that was both sad and disturbing.. My he R.I.P.. 🇺🇲
Wow !! I couldn't recognize anything except the Old Gym and the Movie Theater.. My Dad was a Civilian Employee for the Department of The Army. So I was there from June, 1979 till October,1982 .. It was a great time and age to be over there , I absolutely loved it.. I got to visit so many places... Amsterdam, Paris, Prague Czechoslovakia and all over Germany including the Berlin Wall... It was good to see BFV again after 40 years. I appreciate you taking us for the Ride a Long ..👍🦅🇺🇲🦅
Hi everybody to all of ,who once joined the Mannheim Garnison! I am borned and raised as native Mannheimer child , while I used to live on the other side of the B 38 in the Vogelstang . I am really missing those days ! ...and it s good to share your memorys , thanks for that !Greetings from Franklin ,as it is now called .
Was stationed on Sullivan Barracks with 3/77AR - loved Mannheim and the Great Times I had there. Went clubbing at the Top Hat; then we go down range to the ZOO. Awesome Memories! Thank you for the video.
I’m trying to start doing that but between my military deployments before I retired and working for the govt now it’s challenging! But I’m definitely going to make time for traveling more. I lived in Germany a total of 12 1/2 years.
I was there from '98-'00 BFV and lived on Columbus. But worked at Coleman Barracks with 414th Signal Batallion Sandhofen Germany. I remember signing in at BFV and walking in to a place that had Beanie Babies in a glass show case and up stairs we would take a class to get our Drivers License. I remember Burger King and walking to the Commisary. My wife at the time worked at the shoppete in Columbus and her Boss was, "Mr Hand". I had friends on Jefferson, Washington, etc. if anyone remembers please reach out. Plus there was a restaurant back there that I can't remember.
I'm finally going to be going back later this year to show my daughter where I once lived for 3 years. I was an Army brat and my paternal unit was stationed there from 86-89. If you don't mind my asking, was it easy to rent a car there or will we be okay traveling by train since we will also go to downtown Mannheim after visiting what was once home? Is the shell of the high school still there and middle school that was across the street in back of the high school? Sorry lot's of questions but am looking forward to going back for a nostalgia moment.
What city are you flying into? You won’t have a problem renting a car at all. I rent my cars from Budget in the airport. We always fly into Stuttgart Airport. Your stateside driver’s license and credit card is all you need.
@@kokodoll its all closed nothing is like it was anymore. PHV has become an immigrant village. US Army is now stationed near Zagan Poland (former german country partsbefore WW2) so come and visit Görlitz area (Görliwood) !
When you got off the highway and turned right, had you turned left, I practically lived at the McDonald’s that way lol! Number 3 keine Zeibel I believe it was lol (no onions)
72 thru 74 I lived at 72A Columbus { beside the Shopette}. Stationed on Taylor Barracks in the 150th Trans. Company moved to Spinelli Barracks during 72.
@@blackcaddy8367 I never got back to germany after I PCS’d in 74. I spent the next 11 years based at Ft Eustis on boats and 3 in Panama to retire with 22active military service
