I remember doing all of the b sides before doing chapter 9 without knowing they were required. So getting to the wall and seeing it evaporate INSTANTLY was possibly one of my hypest moments in gaming history.

The last screen of this level was literal hell, the game even gives you encouraging words after dying a lot of times. If you beat this level, doesn't matter if you died 100, 1000 or 10000 times, you are a true gamer.

You don't know true Hell if you haven't tried to go for the Moon Berry, the final room alone must have taken me ten hours. The entire Dark Souls trilogy didn't ONCE bring me so close to ragequitting.

@@TheUltimateRare it makes sense for it to be locked until you beat most of the b sides considering that you learn some extra movements in the b sides that you need to know to beat the rest of the chapter

This was my reaction too. I spent hours on like, the third screen, because it requires a super tight manuever, and I thought the worst was over. Then this happened. FUCK. I still haven't beaten it.
I got to the door on my own. When I could confirm I could leave and come back, I decided to youtube what was past it.
Made me realize I still had a whole mountain to climb.
Same, and I collected most of the hearts, I still need to collect 2 more I think? But nah, the game is sitting there waiting for me since April
I had everything but the last couple rooms of farewell beaten and put the game down for like a year and a half before I actually beat it. Sometimes it's just too much at once

Yeah I remember having to like, put the game down for a while in between the sections of Farewell when I was playing it for the first time.
It was a bumpy road for sure, but I've honestly never felt more accomplished than when I finally beat it.

I had already cleared all the base content before playing farewell since I assumed it was going to be post c-side difficulty, and the gate showing up and immediately opening was pretty validating, ngl.

Honestly some of the most relatable content I've ever seen; getting that heart was the one of the worst feelings in the game
It was one of the best feelings for me, knowing I get more level after waiting forever for the dlc xD
@@shiranuithewolf8559 it’s quite interesting, it seems that veteran players who’ve been waiting for the DLC and new players who got the game after the DLC was already added react in opposite ways to this moment.
I beat celeste a little after farewell dropped and while I didn't necessarily expect the gate, i wasn't surprised by it either. I get why it upsets people, but who actually expected farewell to be that easy lmao.
It was great for me since I got everything beforehand from just my instincts excluding the normal golden berries. I did have the flying one for level 1.

I see this wall as more of a warning than a requirement: Farewell WILL kick your ass, and the B and C sides are good training for that. Of course, if you're already skilled enough, you can just bypass the wall with a fast wavedash, which rewards the experienced
I've died ~16,000 times in Celeste. 12,000 of those times were just from this level.

@@reverie02 I've gotten all of the red strawberries and completed the c-sides. I'm not crazy/good enough to get all the golden strawberries. Also haven't gotten the moon berry

Funny because I started Farewell with only 3 B-sides done. I got a bit frustrated by the halfway point of the 3rd subchapter so I left it there and decided to beat the rest of the B and C sides. It was absolutely worth it both for the hearts and the skill

The hearts are stopping you because you learn stuff in the B and C sides (wavedash, wallbounce). If you already know how you can skip the gate but if you don't, the game stops you: "go learn that".
@@jimmyh2137 Wavedash isn't actually taught by the game until after this point in Farewell though, IIRC. Before that point it was just a speedrunner strat, but wasn't actually required.

fun fact, using some sort of momentum and wavedashing can allow you to pass this gate if you get it right

Good rule of thumb is to finish all the C-Sides before Farewell. Because damn that chapter was so damn hard.
But I do love how it uses nearly every element in the game

give it a shot! the game is designed to be friendly even towards people who haven't played games like it before; yes it's a challenge but the game primes you to be okay with being challenged

No there’s a check point I believe and you can also skip the wall it’s not too difficukt
Yeah, the developers purposefully left a way to skip it, so it's not too hard to do if you know how.
That being said... I wouldn't recommend doing it on a first playthrough ? Let's just say the difficulty definitely assumes you've played enough Celeste to have gotten these hearts...
