This is a much better video than previous ones on the 500. Getting the guest to talk, showing a lot of minimally edited footage of the bike being ridden, great drone usage. Loved it!
The bike look's absolutely fantastic doesn't she, beautiful lines, sounds absolutely fantastic with the modern powerhouse installed. How cool would it be if there was series for 500cc 2 strokes, there's not enough interest, they could do a few races and not a whole series with veterans like Jeff Emig, Damon Bradshaw, Jeff Stanton, Jeremy McGrath, Stephan Everts, Jean Michelle Bail (JMB), I'm sure there's many riders who would love to do a series where they ride, let's say 5-8 SX races, and a handful of outdoors. They could ride what ever bike they want to.
Nev was noticeably carrying more momentum in corners on the YZ500 and flowing better, whereas the 450 looked more stop/start in the corners. And for him to say it's the best bike he's ever ridden is high praise considering all the bikes he's ridden. Great video, I look forward to more!
@martin barr's CRF450 mmm kay, and the yz 250 it's based on had a last major update in, what was it, 2006 I believe. Sounds like you have your panties in a bunch because this will stomp your ghey 4 stroke.
@martin barr's CRF450 how do we know if it’s a stock 450? Did he say in the video and I missed it? Even if it’s suspension has been set up for Nev, then that’s a huge advantage vs a stock chassis yz. I’m not arguing, just curious.

Just to hear a 2 stroke come to life is always a sign that something good is about to happen. I did mx and enduro as a youngster with 2 strokes.. then came the 4t.. :/ found my passion again with snowmobiles tho^^

Nev is right!!! The grunt and power of the CR 500s is pretty crazy at times! The later year CR 500s rev too! This BRC bike looks easier to ride with more sensible power, that your average rider could enjoy and not get in trouble on! Great video!
I ride a Service Honda 500,I have run whole motos off the pipe,just short shifting it (with exception of the gate drop of course)just using the great low end torque and have close to my best lap times as the bike has way more horses than my c class 50 year old skills can use. Guys on revvy 4 strokes and 250/125 2t's are amazed at how fast it is going and revving so low.
@@MrCR500AFme too lol and I totally agree. Set up correctly a CR500 is a torque sensation and you can lugg them everywhere, carrying lots of speed. The addition of a rekluse is a game changer too!
This bike certainly isn't like the old YZed 490 air-cooled. This acts light toi throw around with right-on controllable power instead of the chunky on-off of the old 490's. It doesn't look like you could possibly want for more or better power. Great upload.
@@husamnour4606 Agreed.....I had an absolutely great YZ465 that I'd done head work, porting, and jetting on that was very good for both off-road and on the track. I rode my buddy's YZ490 and wondered how Yamaha could drop the ball so bad in just one year. The only guys that made them run put a ton of money in head work, suspension, etc and the still were miserable with a heavy feeling that never went away.

Fun series to follow. Neville is very good on a two stroke. In slippery conditions the four stroke should of had an advantage. I do not believe a cr500 engined bike would have fared as well. The Yzilla looks and apparently performs great.

I'm loving this YZM500 series.. It won this lap time challenge but if one of us average guys were doing it we would be quicker on the 4 stroke. I'm a 2 stroke guy but when it comes to 500's only a handful of guys can ride them properly. I know that this won't be a popular comment but it's the truth..

The best video Ive seen someone drive a 500cc two stroke ever and video work with drone perfectly following. Also as far as I can see the Pipe is perfect size and doesn't' have alot of twist's and turn's for perfect smooth power. I do love a two stroke punch on power band like having a Nitrous button, but a smooth power band is more controllable.

Holy $hit he was hauling ass!!!!! I don't know what to say. Never heard or seen a 500 do that on a mx track. He was over clearing everything, hammering those berm whoops wide open, and just flat out letting that thing eat!!!
@@999lazer as the kids here in the states say, "Saaaame!" I can appreciate 4 strokes but will always ride and own 2 strokes. I forgot to mention, I really liked the part when the front end popped up as he was exiting a turn but he was all over it, chopped the throttle and kept perfect balance until the front end came down but never slowed down. A sure sign of big torque and by the way, awesome riding! Great video. Thank you. Can't wait to see him race the YZilla!
i raced a 500 yamaha when they first came out i am verry old now al most fell aslep then i herd the torque and the lack of vibration opened my eyes and was amazed thanks for the vid
Nevelle is my favorite rider and I'm from the USA.just his demeanor and what he believes in his personality makes u just root for him plus he can ride like crazy
They'll be fine. The stresses were already traction limited with a 250cc motor. Plus, the torquey big engine will require less shifting and less clutch fanning. I bet they will wear as well or maybe even better. Good thought though. Big bire 2 strokes ftw
@@Muscleupsanddangles YZs are known for having a weak gear box, its my biggest fear with teh 500 kit, im waiting before buying one to make sure they dont destroy gear boxes

@@gregducati999 the YZ250 runs a dangerously low amount of gearbox oil with a drip system. I followed traditional and more reliable design methods and buried the tranny shafts in oil, like KTM and most other manufacturers. Reliability is #1, even if it costs a horsepower or two.
That’s amazing to see the 2 stroke actually get around the track faster. I rode a YZM500 that was an Ohlins kit back in 1988 ( not the 360, but a full 500). The motor produced a more tractable power than a modified 490 air hammer. My point is the 4 stroke now produces more tractable and is simply easier to ride fast. This could be a real aftermarket boon and boost 250 two stroke sales !
Nev Bradshaw is a legend. And for him to say his favorite chassis is the YZ 250 is amazing, cause that's all I ride. That y zilla is amazing. 2 strokes for life
You can tell he is having fun riding this bike. I would like to see the bike on a natural terrain grass covered track with some off cambers to see the low end torque control.
If you started watching the video half way through without knowing what Neville was riding, you could be forgiven for thinking he was out for a thrash on a 250 the way he was throwing that bike around. Damn that thing is fast.
I really not seeing what everyone is seeing as fast. Yes Bradshaw made it fast. But what I heard and seen this bike was really under performing. I get it. Im super excited to see this bike as well, I'm just not seeing 17000 dollars worth here at all. They still have a lot of work to go. That thing is flat up top. Not at all impressed with brc, 8000 for parts of an engine that a k5 engine will eat alive, they are to proud the cost needs to drop considerably.

When done right, it sounds like its allmost idling around the track and still hauling ass.
@@mxcoolman The CR power is much more jerky and dies off so fast compared to the YZ , the YZ keeps pulling even in 5th gear .
The fact that he was faster on the new bike, instead of the one he's more familiar with, says a lot about how good a job they did with that motor!
According to his stop watch. That really bugs me. This bike won't be super fast. It will be smooth and fun though.
Chassis gets a lot of credit also.

Holy $hit he was hauling ass!!!!! I don't know what to say. Never heard or seen a 500 do that on a mx track. He was over clearing everything, hammering those berm whoops wide open, and just flat out letting that thing eat!!!

@@999lazer as the kids here in the states say, "Saaaame!" I can appreciate 4 strokes but will always ride and own 2 strokes. I forgot to mention, I really liked the part when the front end popped up as he was exiting a turn but he was all over it, chopped the throttle and kept perfect balance until the front end came down but never slowed down. A sure sign of big torque and by the way, awesome riding! Great video. Thank you. Can't wait to see him race the YZilla!

i raced a 500 yamaha when they first came out i am verry old now al most fell aslep then i herd the torque and the lack of vibration opened my eyes and was amazed thanks for the vid

They'll be fine. The stresses were already traction limited with a 250cc motor. Plus, the torquey big engine will require less shifting and less clutch fanning. I bet they will wear as well or maybe even better. Good thought though. Big bire 2 strokes ftw
@@Muscleupsanddangles YZs are known for having a weak gear box, its my biggest fear with teh 500 kit, im waiting before buying one to make sure they dont destroy gear boxes
@@Muscleupsanddangles I'd just heard the yz had a weak gearbox and was wondering how the 500 would effect it , I have a 22 yz250 but the 500 kit would be too much for me lol
@@gregducati999 the YZ250 runs a dangerously low amount of gearbox oil with a drip system. I followed traditional and more reliable design methods and buried the tranny shafts in oil, like KTM and most other manufacturers. Reliability is #1, even if it costs a horsepower or two.
@@diggs345lr I had to send my YZ 250 to get fix , the gear selector dropped down touching the frame , he said I snapped the gear selector rod ?
Man that YZILLA sounds fantastic when its on the pipe.
That’s amazing to see the 2 stroke actually get around the track faster. I rode a YZM500 that was an Ohlins kit back in 1988 ( not the 360, but a full 500). The motor produced a more tractable power than a modified 490 air hammer. My point is the 4 stroke now produces more tractable and is simply easier to ride fast. This could be a real aftermarket boon and boost 250 two stroke sales !

If you started watching the video half way through without knowing what Neville was riding, you could be forgiven for thinking he was out for a thrash on a 250 the way he was throwing that bike around. Damn that thing is fast.
I really not seeing what everyone is seeing as fast. Yes Bradshaw made it fast. But what I heard and seen this bike was really under performing. I get it. Im super excited to see this bike as well, I'm just not seeing 17000 dollars worth here at all. They still have a lot of work to go. That thing is flat up top. Not at all impressed with brc, 8000 for parts of an engine that a k5 engine will eat alive, they are to proud the cost needs to drop considerably.
