      You know Shaq grew up in a tough love environment right? He literally explained when he was in LA and wasn't winning, greats like Kareem criticized him and questioned if he's really great. Add-on the fact that his father told him Kareem was right. Also the show is dedicated because Shaq did a lot of funny and dumb plays. The issue was the NBA execs judging a player off a show for fun. Explains why half of the franchises in the NBA never get anywhere.

    I have nothing but respect for McGee. When he was in the Bay, you saw on a weekly basis his community involvement, his work with charities, his interaction with kids in the area. He had giveaways on twitter and had a charity softball game in Oakland to support clean drinking water (he's from Flint). No doubt he's proven himself a great bball player and a solid contributor with multiple rings, a gold medal and superstar level hops, but the kid is special because of all the things he does off the court and never gets recognized for.

Shaq has to put up with everyone saying he rode on Kobe and d wades back’s for championships. Shaq has to put up with being labeled ugly on national tv. Shaq frequently gets a called lazy and accused of not reaching his full potential. Shaq gets criticized for his commercials etc. Shaq receives lot of criticism. He has said many times PROVE ME WRONG. He wants people to do better. Joel embid eventually understood what shaq and Barkley meant. He’s tough on his own sons, because he wants them to do better. People need to understand his style of motivation, it may not be to people’s liking or what they are used to today but least he cares enough to say something rather than let people live in delusion about their skills / performance, when they could do better. Javale should have politely addressed it with shaq, his responses to shaq didn’t help the situation. It inflamed it. You live and learn.

    After revisiting this whole thing I have a few thoughts; both sides have a bit of blame but I’m generally on the side of Javale, but…
    1) There’s absolutely nothing wrong with segments like Shaqtin a fool that make fun of bad plays. NBA players play to entertain us. That’s what they get paid for. Players are paid to be watched, talked about, spectated. There’s nothing wrong for cheering lebron when he wins, or making fun of a Javale botched play. That’s sports. So, Javale was wrong to come at Shaq originally when all Shaq was doing was the Shaqtin segments. As long as your jokes are about the plays, not the players, its fair game.
    2) Shaq was totally in the wrong for how he responded to Javale. The threats, followed by personal insults calling him a bum. He should have responded to Javale by saying something like “I didn’t mean to insult you personally, this Shaqtin show is just a show we do for fun, I don’t mean anything personal by doing it.” But he doubled down and truly tried to insult him as a person beyond basketball, which was crossing the line.
    3) Shaq needs to get off this idea of “If i make fun of you, work to prove me wrong and stop being sensitive.” It’d be one thing if Shaq wasn’t sensitive but Chuck shows that Shaq is sensitive all the time. Also, some people get motivated by people joking on them, but many don’t. And the fact that Shaq thinks he’s doing the right thing by clowning people until they become motivated to prove him wrong is troubling. He shouldn’t assume he knows what’s best for every player. Javale reminds me of myself in many ways and I certainly know I don’t improve by people making fun of me, I improve by people trusting in and believing in me.

    • @TheVic18t
      @TheVic18t 2 года назад

      Don't totally agree with point #1. Shaq especially made a point and several segments making fun of Javale, far beyond what he would do for any other player. Shaqtin' A Fool began to affect Javale's career opportunities...from one player to another, that's gone way too far. You don't mess with another player's career opportunities.
      Lucky for Javale, the GSW could see through all of that and they saw potential in him that other teams didn't.

    I used to have a job where a lot of the people realized I could solve problems. So they would come get me whenever something needed “solving”. One guy started saying that every time he saw me I was messing something up. One day, I was walking and I saw a situation before it even occurred. The lady that I helped said “ you would know how to fix that. You’re always messing something up.” The dude had changed the whole narrative on my name

      Huh? Did you actually listen to the video? The constant belittling and bad portrayal of Javale on Shaqtin was hurting his reputation. The man didn’t let him live anything down to the point where it was on some bullying type ish. That’s WRONG flat out. That’s what he and his moms is saying. Which is right.
