      السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته
When shahid kept asserting that the statement of Asmaa كنا نخمر على وجوهنا ونحن محرمات wasnt sareeh in its proving the obligation of niqaab, why did Ustadh not mention that the asl in ihram is to leave the face uncovered so only another obligation can remove the initial prohibition.
Am I missing a trick somewhere or is my reasoning valid?
I appreciate that me messaging here and expecting a reply is somewhat unlikely but I would really really appreciate it if I did get something back :)

You sis it's one of those things that you need to JUST START Sometimes. There's never a "right time" even if you feel conflicted in your heart about it (which I pray Allah removes it for you and makes it easy for you to obey Him, Subhana Watala. ameen ) Keep doing it, even if it feel uncomfortable or not sincere and in sha Allah The sincerity will eventually enter your heart.
It's kinda like FAke it til you make it.

Alhamdoellilah i started covering my face without having any knowlegde but my gut feeling told me it would bring me closer to Allah swt and it did. Many people tried to change my mind by telling me it is not socially accepted. But living in the time we live in, the norm of being socially excepted is not something that brings anyone closer to Allah swt so i feel like i´m winning alhamdoellilah. I hope that Allah swt brings every woman and man closer to Allah swt, forgives our sins and increases our knowlegde In sha allah yaa rabbi.

I am a revert, however when I was a teenager I watched many science documentaries on TV, ine of which was a sex psychology doscumentary. One of the things they mentioned from a study, of which they showed in practice, is that when a woman walks her hips go left-forward and right-forward. They had a woman walking on a treadmill. Then they introduced men into the room and her hips went from forward-motion to a swivel-motion, which the scientists dedict is meant to show off thr circumference of the womans hips which could aid in a man knowing the woman's fertility. Wearing loose clothing can aid in covering this subconscious behavior.
Another thing they had pointed out was that when a man is looking for a woman to simply satisfy his lust, he fosucses on her chest and backside. However, when a man is looking for a mate (of which to have children) he focuses on her face. Our face gives a summary of our genes and health based on symmetry. The more symmetrical, the more genetically healthy and, in a way, of "higher quality" that woman's genetic heritage is.
I have always gone back-and-forth on mustahaab and waajib on the topic of niqab, but that is simply because I cannot read Arabic for myself yet. I am only halfway finished but I am learning so many things pertaining to this topic as well as overall tools to help taking meaning out of the Qur'an.
May Allah bless all those that took part in this video and debate.

Firstly, since we all follow the same religious sources (Qur'an and Sunnah), one Muslim group cannot, therefore, be inherently more or less misogynistic than the other. All Muslims collectively are either all misogynistic or collectively not. So that statement is a logical fallacy.
Secondly, Islam isn't misogynistic at all. Feel free to quote what you will to argue your claim. I am studying to become a Sheikha (inshaAllah) so I am pretty well versed in many areas and I also write debates as if I am giving an argument essay to my Wnglish professor back in the US.
Thirdly, I am not part of any sect. The Qur'an is clear:
" Indeed, those who have divided their religion and become sects - you, [O Muhammad], are not [associated] with them in anything. Their affair is only [left] to Allah ; then He will inform them about what they used to do." (6:159)
So if I am part of any sect then I am out the fold of Islam.

You are not in the class u are in examination hall. She was continuously saying this to me and was not signing on OMR sheet. But Alhamdulillah I didn't remove my niqab☺️ and finally she's almost exhausted and at last signed and allowed me saying that u are very stubborn, didn't uncover your face.😂

The thing is that I am in 11th grade and going to be in 12th grade this year and as you know we have board exams which are held in different examination centre. I'm thinking of going as a private student for the board exams so that I can wear proper hijab clothing and give the exam directly without going to school. Now the thing is that I am not sure if they will let me wear the niqab or not as you know that people in India are being extra against hijab and burkha. So can you tell me what exam were you giving and what is your advice on my situation. As I do feel that it is obligatory. Also I admire your bravery and steadfastness, may Allah bless you sister.

May Allah increase the brother in Knowledge of the Deen. Evidences from the Qur'an,Hadiths and logic is clear to proved it compulsory. The view here is, weather is directed to the wives of the prophet( SAW) or not, we should in any way follow them if we are true followers of the Qur'an and Sunnah. Another logic, if the time we are living now is worst that the time of the companions then, definitely Niqab should be compulsory.

Loved the way the discussion moved from one point to the other.
A question I was pondering over was on the two types of Awrah mentioned.
The same Aya used for obligation of veiling outside Salah by later scholars were used as proof for removing veil in Salah or Marriage by the Imams(like Imam Shafiee).
So how do we reconcile this?
    Example:

    4:15:32
The summary at the end given by the respected scholar who say that niqab is mustahab not obligatory, is that in Islam every thing is easy, so for working women niqab is a burden so it is mustahab.
I personally think this could be extended very badly in all teachings of Islam by saying that it is very difficult to offer all salahs punctually, especially during winters, it is very difficult to do wudu with cold water and vice versa for summers.
A lot of time is consumed by offering salah, people have to postpone their plans, students are affected by it, it is very unfair for labourers who work hard all day and they have to even offer their Isha prayer in this exhausted condition, and they have to wake uo again early for Fajar, it just makes life difficult for people.
It is very burdensome to have Soum especially during summers.
Ill people who doesn't have Soum are still liable to pay penalty for it.
During jihad people lives are at stake literally, why would Allah Tala order something very burdensome (life threatening) ??!!
Why would Allah Tala make such hard rulings ?!
Don't you think this is a very weak argument, and by this, every commandment of Allah Tala would seem burdensome to some extent ?
Obviously Heaven is not cheap, and the reward of Heaven is far much bigger than the burden of obligations.
    Salam

Salaam, I don't want to get into a lengthy discussion or debate, I'm learning too, but just to add to your points. If we use that reasoning for things like Salah or Fasting, those things have been ordained very clearly as being obligatory, and are also pillars of Islam. No one would dispute that Salah and Fasting are obligatory, whereas with Niqab their is a difference of opinion regariding it. And when Salah becomes difficult, you need only pray the fard prayers, you can pray sitting or lying, with fasting, if you have a valid reason like ill health, you can skip the fast and do it later. So the exceptions and scenarios have been given already.
Also, I think regarding niqab, it's not just an issue of difficulty but of practicality, like if a woman was buying/selling outside, in some situations, if she concealed her identity then if there was a security issue we couldn't identify her. If all women in the world wore niqab, and were in the workplace for example, we wouldn't know who they were. There would be many times when a man would mistake a woman for another woman. I'm just imagining the scenario, but Allah knows best and I'm also learning.

@@RehmatDeenwallahi brother you are so on point. Even someone who wears niqab i am never able to convince myself it's obligatory for the fact that it's hard for security reasons. Like apart from all fitna discussion face is how we know other person. That's the core purpose of it and then of course it's also makes one beautiful because having one's unique identity is what really pretty. But that's the secondary purpose of it not primary.
Now, as long as someone isn't beautifying their face keep it natural as it is i only see face as how I identify other person. ( I'm not giving any fatwa just sharing few concerns) allah ho Alam.
And definitely fasting, praying is obligatory we can't compare this issue with pillar of islam.

The question to be asked is what benefit is there for the women to uncover their faces in front of strange non mahram men? If there is a need to uncover for security purposes for example, that is one thing. As for making the default uncovering it in front of thousands of men, many of which will be staring, goes against the point of the hijab.
( ٢/٧٤) يقول الغزالي: "لم تزل الرجال على مر الأزمان تكشف الوجوه، والنساء يخرجن منتقبات أو يمنعن من الخروج" إحياء علوم الدين
Al-Ghazali said: “Throughout the ages, men have been uncovering their faces, and women go out wearing niqabs or were prevented from going out.” Ihyaa Uloom ad-deen (2/74)
قال الإمام الجويني إمام الحرمين في موسوعته الفقهية " نهاية المطلب " (12/ 31 - 32):
(اتفاق المسلمين على منع النساء من التبرج والسفور وترك التنقب) انتهى.
Al Juwayni (d.478 H) said: The muslims have agreed on preventing women from tabarruj (adorned) and uncovering their faces and leaving the face veil

    Conditions of Hijab
    1. Hijab must cover the entire body (the thought of it being just a head scarf gets wiped out by this)
    2. It should be thick enough to cover what's underneath it
    3. It should be loose fitting and not tight.
    4. It should not be so attractive as to cause mens attention to it. (Make up, bows, headbands, Hair clips etc.)
    5. It should not be perfumed.
    6. It should not be a dress of fame or extravagant in any way
    7. It should not resemble the dress of men.
    8. It should not resemble the dress of men
    9. It should not resemble the dress of disbelieving women

"This proves that not only the wives of Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Álayhi Wasallam) wore the Niqaab and that even though in Ihram women are not supposed to wear Niqaab but if men are there they still have to cover the face.
