I have often read that Allan was not "mocked" in nascar "at first", but snubbed, because he was considered a self-made entrepreneur that some pilots of the time could take for arrogance, . in fact not! Allan, even without knowing him, personally, I find that he had a positive and humble energy! he didn't look like a show-off at all!

A definite hall of Famer! Way before Dale Jr. For sure an I love Jr and what he does for the sport but what Alan did was legendary for the sport to help the underdog to dream and accomplish! So trajic!

I was lucky enough to meet him in 1992, a year before he passed away. He was in a mall in Gastonia, NC when my family and I (then just four) ran into him, and being the NASCAR fanatic that I was, instantly recognized him. My parents said he was the nicest, most polite athlete they had ever met, and said he got a kick out of me. I got his autograph, but after we moved, we never could find it. Oh well. A great driver and a great person.

I grew up a diehard Richard Petty fan as well as cheering for Kyle Petty. Alan was my Dad's favorite driver so I naturally followed Kulwicki. When I came home from my 2nd shift job and heard that Alan had died in a plane crash I was devastated. He truly was an amazing driver and such a humble person. He was truly one of a kind....MISS YOU ALAN !!!

Also, fort to mention. IMO, best NASCAR WInston Cup driver who ever drived. He did what Petty, Pearson and Yarborough could never pull off in that kind of equipment. He was the only guy who knew his way around the car better than his own mechanics. He wanted to do it his own way, and refused to even sign with Rick Hendrick. He is my inspiration to get into NASCAR, and the reason I'm going to college before I start driving. He should have been a shoo-in for the HOF this year, IDK why not.

On perhaps NASCAR's most important day at Atlanta in 1992, the man who came out on top when all was said and done was Alan Kulwicki. That, more than anything else, speaks volumes for his legacy and standing in NASCAR history.

There will never be another race like that....I know Im gonna get some grief but from start to finish the 92' Hooters 500 was the greatest race in history....6 drivers in contention for the championchip, The championchip going to the final laps, Richard Petty running his last race while Gordon ran his first....nothin can top that

We are just a few days away from the twentieth anniversary of that fateful day. When he won the championship a few months earlier I cursed and yelled at the T.V. I was, and am a huge Bill Elliot fan, and I so wanted Bill to win. But Bill had a championship and would have many years to try for another one. As I was to soon learn, Alan HAD to win this one, because he would never have another chance. I regret my bad feelings that day, but I always know that it was what was meant to be. R.I.P.#7

I cried watching this and I had the chills. Alan was my favorite driver along with Dale Earnhardt and I met them both. There was never anyone or there will never be another Alan. He was such a humble, sweet man. He owned the team, drove the car, worked on the car etc. He deserved to be a champion. It pains me because he was terrified to fly and that ended up being how he died. He must’ve been so scared when the plane was going down God love him. I miss him and I miss the old days of NASCAR when the good old boys worked on the car themselves and came up after their daddies would drive like Dale and Dave he and Kyle etc. NASCAR is not the same anymore it’s all about money and corporate. The 90s and earlier we’re great days for NASCAR but also sad with so many losses.
