I forgot to mention in the video, for new viewers, we are a family of 10. We live in a rural area and we’ve been slowly building and rotating our pantry for many years. Thanks for watching! Have an awesome day!☀️
Please which grain meal do you use?
@@momomily9229 I use the Nutrimill
I was just looking for this info! Thank you so much :)
I REALLLLLLLLLLLYYYYYY appreciate that you haven’t decanted, plasticized anything and your pantry is a WORKING pantry that still looks very pretty, organized, functional and inspiring! Pantry Goals! Thank You…. Very refreshing.
Just an FYI, teriyaki sauce is super easy to make and very adjustable. The basic recipe is:
3/4 cup soy sauce
1/3 to 1/2 cup sugar
2 of more cloves of garlic
1/2 tsp ground ginger or 1 tsp fresh grated ginger
1 to 2 tbsp rice vinegar
1 to 2 tsp toasted sesame oil
We got this recipe from my mother-in-law who was from Japan and most ingredients are based on personal preference. Honey can be substituted for the sugar and if a more Hawaiian taste is wanted, a couple of tbsp of pineapple juice can also be added. The original recipe also included a tsp of MSG but it isn't necessary for a wonderful sauce.
Hello again from France! A gallon over 10 Euros now, the car eats it all...but I still get a bit of stock every week, no restaurant or haircut for the moment, but prep, prep, prep... You have such a beautiful pantry, it's always a pleasure to watch your vids... Blessings!!
Thank you for sharing. In these times, I am comforted to see many are preparing as sadly, I think rough times are coming.
I think you’re right. I hope more people start paying attention.
i have had peanut butter in my garage going thru 4 yrs of seasons here in MI and even after being expired 2 or 3 yrs past - it was still yummy. u really dont need to watch ur dates on that.
Yep. They’re Best Buy dates but many folks call them expiration dates.
Great video. I can moose and deer all the time. It’s so handy and so easy. I just cut into chunks, put it in the jar, add some salt and put a lid on it. So easy and so good. Raw pack is the way to go and no liquid is required, it’s makes it own. Thanks for the video
I am 70 and started stocking maybe a year ago. I will say it is.very hard and now I.need to be able to help my daughter and her son. Her boyfriend is dying and so there isn't much money for them so they are not able to save. I will tell you that I was pleased to see that you had boxes of noodles. I had seen a few podcasts where they are canning there noodles and to tell the truth I am not able to afford that . I plan on watching more of your podcasts. I nust found you a few days ago. Take care.oh I hate those bugs
I've just started canning this year. I love doing it. I'm doing meats, dried beans and soups and stews mostly now. You do beef just like your chicken from my research. I raw pack my meat. Enjoyed this video.
When I pressure can roasts / stew chunks I add Montreal steak seasoning. The instructions/ recipe can be found at that1870’s homestead channel on YT
Thank you for the pantry inspiration! I love having those Alfredo sauces on hand for quick dinners too!
That is a well stocked pantry! Fabulous!
I live in Maine and purchase the 60 count egg box from Walmart… it’s up over $8 now. It was down around $5 a few months ago…
Great pantry! Working on mine now 🙏
Lady bugs are lucky keep them around it brings good luck
Your pantry and seedlings look good!
Thank you!☀️
Great ideas! Would love if you can share some written recipes of your meal plans!
thankyou for sharing Pursuit of simplicity, that soup recipe whizzed with some chilli and soya sauce would make quite a good satay for other recipes too, could try with leftovers of it. I loved your pantry tour, you discussed recipes for your produce which was helpful.
Looking forward to watching, just subscribed. Hi from Ireland. We don't get the array of products you get over there and unfortunately I don't have a pantry like yours - biggest regret now not putting in one when we were building!! I've managed to stock about 80lbs of flour, 30lb pasta and rice, have some tinned tuna/spam (I would not normally buy spam but if things get really bad then it'll be eaten) tinned fruit, tomatoes. I have some lentils, bulgur wheat, gluten free pasta (I'm gluten intolerant) beans are not plentiful here and come in very small bags but I do have canned black beans but only I eat them but if things got really bad they'd eat them if there was nothing else
Thanks so much for sharing!☀️Where do you live?
Chalulu is King !!!!! Love your pantry , reminded me of things I need to add. We can red meat raw pack method and it makes the best hamburger meat for meals, stew meat for stews, chicken strips for meals and it taste great. Definitely give canning meat a try.
Your pantry is so organized!
Thank you☀️
Thank you 🙏
You may want to consider doing onion starts instead of onion sets to get bigger onions. Onion set bulbs are on their second year and are using energy to flower, so you may not get as big of bulbs.
I’m definitely trying that next year! I may even try some now…but I think it’s too late to start from seed.
Great stock and ideas! Minestroni soup mix? I would love recipe, thanks! ❤️
those would be japanese lady bugs and they bite. the red ones are lady bugs the orangey red are japanese.
I leave my onions in the ground year around and go pick them as I need them. I'm afraid you better go buy more onions lol. I think I have a video on my wee tiny channel onions. I just document my gardening to see my process 😎
Would you ever consider filming videos of how you can your beans and potatoes? I got a pressure canner for Christmas but very intimidated to start using it.
Absolutely! Thank you for the suggestion!
Rosered Homestead is a great canning channel.
I’m growing weary of seeing what everyone stocks! I need to know how to combine things to make meals!!! Wonderful pantry there!
I’m going to do a meal planning series using what we have in our pantry. Stay tuned☀️
Hello! Fellow South Carolinian! Just recently found your channel! New subscriber!!
Hi neighbor! Welcome!☀️
I just had some Peanut Butter from 2013 out of my pantry.... was tasty : )
New Subscriber from Alabama 😁♥️
Hi April! Welcome☀️
fyi peanut butter made with palm oil, like the natural peanut butter from aldi or sams club, lasts much longer than those made with veg oil. i have kept it about 3yrs with no issues at all, and no change in taste.
Awesome video. I need to do this same assessment this weekend. We have the freezers sorted out but definitely need to get the pantry in the same order. Would you please share that Peanut Soup recipe? I have looked at ones on Pinterest all winter but haven't pulled the trigger yet... Thank you so much for sharing!!
Thank you! I added it to the description box! Let me know how you guys like it!☀️
I just investing in a solar dehydrator. I've always canned but I want to try something else. If I like it I want to get a couple more. They are definitely an investment not cheap but can you put a price on having food preserved? New subsciber ❤️
SUBBED. Thank you for sharing. What if i have canned foods from over a year ago? How long of a shelf life do you believe they have? Thank you.
Canned food lasts far longer than the date printed on the can. I wouldn’t worry about that at all.☀️
The Aldi pasta sauce was about $1.25 the last time I purchased it.
It’s still under $1 here in SC.
i can deer meat yrly..just cube up and raw can. add 2 bayleaf per quart jar and fill with water. it cooks in jar and is so tender and yummy. weake bbq sandwiches , stew, noodles, etc.
Thank you!!
I would love to see how you make your soup mix :D I've been looking on youtube for soup mixes..remember Soup Starter? lol , I'd love to make my own
awesome pantry , forgot to say that
Thank you! I’ll link my soup video in the description.
I have found that my potato chips stay fresh for quite awhile storing in cool dark room. Oldest i tried was 6 months and it was still fresh in bag. Can you share your West African Peanut soup Recipe? Thankyou, it sounds good.
If you don't mind me suggesting put the sugar in the Dollar tree containers they is real good they have the medium and the large
Thank you.😊I’ll check them out!
I love your mini store. You are very organized.,Can I ask you where you got the large plastic containers on the floor?
They’re charcoal containers from Amazon.
If you check with Food and Drug Administration in the U.S. dates mean very little
Lady bugs are good they eat the smaller bugs in the pantry, you need them to keep all the weebles away from your rice and flour..❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
We actually have Japanese lady beetles which are NOT beneficial. We definitely love our garden lady bugs!☀️
Last I priced oats,,Azure was less expensive than Aldi.
Wow, thanks for sharing!☀️
❤️❤️❤️
👌🏻👍
My Aldis has started raising prices, the sauces are $2.45 now
Can you share the Amazon link for the blue top storage containers? I couldn’t find it in the description. Thanks
Yes, I added it to the description box.☀️
Can you please post the recipe or a video of the West African soup? Thanks!
It’s in the description box.☀️
@@Pursuit.of.Simplicity thanks!
It's just plain common sense and things will improve hopefully in time.
Do you know that if you put in your garden the Ladybugs, or lady beetles, they are considered a beneficial bug which Helps Rid an area of Crop-damaging aphids, mealybugs and other destructive insect pests? The adult ladybugs feed on Crop-damaging insects.
Greetings from Europe... sorry my bad english :)
Oh yes, we LOVE ladybugs in the garden…just not so much the kitchen.😁My sunflowers attracted lots of ladybugs in the garden last year and we didn’t have a single aphid.
@@Pursuit.of.Simplicity You are very lucky to have ladybugs, many have to buy them :)
@@isagt57 yes, we’re definitely thankful for them in the garden, but not necessarily IN the house.😁They bite!
@@Pursuit.of.Simplicity Well, I'm a grandmother and when I was young, I liked to play with ladybugs, letting them walking in my hands and they never bit me, maybe a sign of the times. Now, there are more people who like to "growl, bark and bite"... after more than 60 years, maybe... ladybugs have also "modernized" themselves lol
Or maybe... different species :)
I haven’t been on much, did you ever get your taste and smell back?
It’s partially back. I can smell most things but my taste is still quite muted.
How do you can your pickled banana peppers?
Water bath
How long will home canned salsa last past the recommended year shelf life? Do you think it would last 5 years if stored properly? I find myself just buying canned goods rather than using my pressure canner because I'm not sure they would last longer or as long as store bought canned goods.
Definitely a couple of years. I don’t really plan on any of my home-canned foods staying on the shelf for longer than two years. That’s just the nature of gardening, preserving, and food storage. It’s a constant rotation.
Adam Arzo, canned tomatoes are very acidic. My canned (tinned) tomato sauce went bad after 5 years because the acid ate through the metal can. However if you home can tomato products in glass jars, you should get many more years shelf life out of them.
Do you have a "how too" can meats ???
Not yet but I plan to soon as I’ll be canning venison and more chicken.
Don’t know your local pricing but a 25lb bag of rolled oat (not organic) from azure is cheaper per pound for me then Walmart or Aldi
Thank you! You’re the second person to mention that. I’m definitely going to check that out. It’ll be interesting to see how azure’s prices will fare with rising fuel costs.
Please which grain meal do you use?
I’ve had a Nutrimill for over 10 years.
@@Pursuit.of.Simplicity thanks!
Ladybugs are good they'll eat all the bad bugs so don't get grossed out on them
Can anyone tell me how many people she is putting things back for?
We have 8 children and my mother in law lives with us as well.
Also, we’ve been slowly building our pantry for many years. This didn’t happen quickly.
Japanese Ladybugs Are Hard To Get Rid Of
For sure. We get them every year.
Sorry to burst your happy Ladybug bubble but those are not Ladybugs. Ladybugs are bright red with a couple black dots. Those orange/red with lots of black dots are Japanese beetles. They are not good bugs. Yup, I have them too. My kids and mine ahh bubble got busted by those impersonators. 🤨
Those beans she's got laying out makes me nervous. I moved into an apartment that was infested with "closet bugs" unknowingly! Pain in the neck to get rid of. Took two exterminators.
sorry, what you are describing are NOT Japanese beetles (do a bing search on what a Japanese beetle looks like). They have bright green heads and a copper- color lower body parts. What you are calling Japanese ladybugs are actually ASIAN lady bugs.
The ladybug that is infamous for invading homes, is the multicolored Asian ladybug. This insect is not native to the United States.
The ASAIN ladybugs are not harmful to humans/pets, nor are they poisonous. More a nuisance than anything.
Another tidbit of information: "Unlike harmless NATIVE ladybugs, Asian lady beetles bite. They aren’t poisonous, but you will feel a little pinch
