Used to work at a used car dealership and something I'd advise people to do is bring along a mechanic or someone who has experience with cars. Take the car for a test drive Atleast twice before buying it. Most of the cars we sold were just "fixed" to the point of you being able to drive for a few days. I remember some guy bought an X5 for 180k and a week later the gearbox had issues, the dealership knew about it but kept quiet

Well if you're going to buy an x5 for 180k something has to be wrong with it. Thanks for the advice though mate.

I bought a ford focus at NTT Toyota (One in my channel) in December 2021, same day lights were not working, oil leak, they came and fetch it, fixed it then later the check engine light came on, they fixed it again then again it came back twice, i took the car back and walk away from the deal and paid nothing

Great video as always🔥, my 2 cents on the mileage thing is that. If a car has a high mileage but with full service history, I will take it because it is proven to be reliable as all the parts have been serviced and the ones that needs replacing has been replaced... always go for full service history if you can.

This is very informative. I remember buying my first car (secondhand) at those dodgy dealerships and had engine light issue 2 days after buying it. Took the car back to the dealership and the owner told me to just ignore the engine light and keep driving the car as is. Before buying the car I was being treated nice and after buying the cars the entire dealership became hostile. DO NOT BUY CARS AT UNCERTIFIED DEALERSHIPS!!

When it comes to bumper gaps and incorrect bumper alignment, that does not necessarily mean the car was in an accident. 90% of all second hand cars for sale, will sooner or later have their front bumper removed at some point of time to have it resprayed due to stone chips. When putting the bumper back on, this is when workshops fit the bumper incorrectly and that's why bumper gaps and alignment is not how they're supposed to be.
Good content though! Loving every video.

Good advice. I once bought an Opel Astra in 2004. It was sold to me as a demo at a GM dealership. A few months into owning the car, it would just stop and would not start. Each time I took it in they were fixing something. I travelled from Pta to Jhb for work daily. One day I got stuck in Jhb the car had to be towed in to the nearest dealer in Randburg. When I went to fetch it they said it was a gearbox, I got mad and asked them why would a car as good as new have gearbox issues I told them it's not the first time I got stuck with the car yet I bought it a few months ago. Then I took the service book and looked at it, to my surprise the car was not a demo it was used by Hertz Car Rentals before. From that info I wasted no time I shopped for another car and traded in the troublesome one. I had the car for 14yrs, it was a 1yr old model with under 10k mileage. It was over 200k when I sold it and the owner is still driving the car till today.

My car does have a few small minor gaps, but it has never been in a accident, plus I bought my car with 98k on the clock with 2 service histories recorded and I have no issues. it's really difficult to tell, which cars are going to be problematic. A friend of mine bought the exact same model polo 6 R 2010 at Mastercars and after a year, has countless issues (engine issues).

People go to we buy cars because they can't afford cars from a dealership. Dealerships are just overpriced, and dealerships aren't free from defects. You could get a dud or a gem at a bargain at we buy cars, it depends. Test driving the car for mechanical problem with your mechanic is a must. Great content nontheless

I don’t work for We Buy Cars but I find when it comes to used car dealerships they a the most transparent… I’ve bought cars from MasterCars that the dealer said had no issues and had 80 point checks done only to find out that the car burns soo much oil that it needs a engine rebuild or it needs a gear box change coz the synchros are gone and yes they offer warranties but it’s mostly third party and requires you to pay close 40% of the repair bill… buying used is taking a shot in the dark you can never know what you getting even if it’s a reputable company !!! But with the Dekra report you getting a lot of information irrespective of it being a marketing gimmick to you… your review has a lot of valid points when it comes to the bodywork of the car but also you fail to inform your viewers that a resprayed bumper could have been a minor scratch that was repaired you have to check inside the engine bay or boot in order to see serious damage . Thank Dr

You are right, buying a car is just an extreme sport whether used or new...because even brand new cars are not free from defects. You just have to be aware what you're getting yourself into and what back up you have if things go wrong.

In all honesty, when you buy a used car, no matter the condition, you are accepting all risks. Non-accident and low mileage do not explain anything. I have been buy high mileage and low mileage cars for a long time and my advice is, always have an extra R20K - R30K when buying a second hand car. get it privately inspected and serviced immediately. You will not regret.

I bought a fiesta at 3000km in 2017. The only time I found out it was in an accident was when I sold it now in 2022 and everyone brought up what you did. The work done on the service book could have also told me a lot but I never knew what anything meant till I sold it. Now I am just turned off by second hand cars, more so because I know the condition my car was in when I sold it

For me personally it's not about the mileage. It comes down to the condition, service history and year model. I bought a 2007 polo 1.4 with 147000km and sold it at 194000km. Never had an issue, it's about how you drive and look after your car. It's like a baby, you have to invest at certain times.

  • @SHENGEsiyabonga

All dealers are the same if we're being honest. It's just a matter of "which dealer has the most to lose". The reason why I am saying this is because Sambo mentioned reputable dealers such as your Master cars, which he is not wrong.
The problem is, there are instances where even these dealers were in the wrong. An example I can make is of a gentleman who wants bought an H1 from a Mazda dealer in Roodepoort only to find that the H1s clock had been reversed for the sale. This was evident when the gent took his H1 for a service at Hyundai and they showed him that through the vehicle history that spans to KMs higher than that displayed when he bought the vehicle.

I plan to drive my cars till I sell them to scrap yard. I drive a 12 year old Ford Fiesta, recently I went to cape town and back jhb no problem. I am now looking at much more comfortable ride, have my eyes on Lexus is250 from 2008 - 2010. You can get a good deal just keep in mind if the car was repossessed that person wouldn't have been able to afford maintenance, I used to deal in used cars and believe me, when money becomes tight the insurance is the 1st to be canceled by owners and they will always do cheap repairs thus voiding the warranty so be prepared to spend money if service history is not up-to-date to get it up-to-date with quality parts

    I love this guy.
Yes WBC r crooks. They got 2 big and run the market. Those Dekra reports are based on business between WBC and Dekra. They will overlook allot to get the report right. Obviously the obvious wont be overlooked but i can assure u they overlook allot. I would never buy a car from WBC. Road worthy certs also mean nothing. Get a trusted mechanic to check ur car out.

Thanks for pointing this out, ive been telling pple this as well. That roadworthy certificate of theirs is a scam.

Great content by the way. 👊

Buying a second hand car can be like having one-night stands without protection. Save yourself and bring a knowledgeable person to check out the car
