The problem with your type dosing cup and ring funnel at the beginning, they extend too deep into basket and leave a empty volume around the wall which you need to distribute again by tapping, only your cup with small tamper like leave no empty space around the wall that good. So I always like that dosing cup that not extend deep into the basket which you can shake the content to break clump and distribute using tools then follow by tamper to finish it
Great video, informative as always. I would love to see a comparison between different approaches as well as an example of using multiple methods (maybe blind shaker => WDT => wedge or OCD) to see if it is worth combining or if it is a diminishing returns sort of thing. At home, I use a WDT and a Pullman Wedge. When I used only the wedge, I was still seeing some uneven extraction and some spurts & channeling when using a naked portafilter. Now that I've added the WDT, I don't see evidence of that, but I'm not sure that the taste gains were significant. Anyway, I always really appreciate the depth of your videos. Keep up the awesome work!
New subscriber! Thank you for the content! I definitely purchased the blind shaker from Weber workshops after watching this video, can’t wait to get it in time for Christmas ☺️
What happen if we combine 1st Blind Shaker shake it then use 2nd WDT on the portafilter then use 3rd Leveler for flatbed then tamp it What your recommendation for perfect extraction? Is blind shaker alone is enough then tamp it?
Ebay has a dirt cheap replica or alternatively as I have done, you can get a chopstick and tape like 6 or so fine sewing needles around it. Works a treat.

I grind into the blind shaker, Shake, place into the porta filter, use a leveler and then tamp. All the steps together are pretty quick.
Michael, you definitely need to try and test Bravo 58.4 Mm Espresso Distributor, in combination with WDT it is amazing
Do you WDT after the blind shaker cup? Or does the shaking in the cup de-clump enough that WDT isn’t needed?

So no naked portafilter pulls for each distribution tool for comparison? Disappointing.
If I use a WDT tool to break up clump should I still use the OCD after that? Or go straight into tamping?
Wow, this aged well! With Lance Hedrick's latest WDT video, it turns out the blind shaker is the best WDT tool.
比較在意的是 這樣整粉會不會一樣有通道效應@@?
what's your favorite tamper

I have a WDT and use the force tamper as a leveler, working well so far. But I just love the way Pullman chisel looks, so I am planning to get one.

I like how from the get go you were like I'm not gonna try to convince you I'm just letting you know these things work ok get on board 😂
Appreciate it!
Which design distribute better wedge or OCD?
the team at ONA tested a simple wedge, and didn't go with it
What happen if we combine
1st Blind Shaker shake it then use
2nd WDT on the portafilter then use
3rd Leveler for flatbed then tamp it
What your recommendation for perfect extraction? Is blind shaker alone is enough then tamp it?
That's what I do. No channeling, but sure about the overall extraction
What’s your opinion on just using the distribution tool and not tamping?
I've never tried, but I'm sure it'd work ok to some degree if you can manage your flow & pressure?
Are these manufactured in China??
Yes
I've done bit of research, OCD manufactured in China, but Pullman is made in Adelaide in Australia 👍
do you have a link for the WDT tool?

check dave corbey's videos. He has an electric distribution tool and also he tested cheap distribution tools and their tamping effect.
Errr I don’t believe the Niche dosing cup is marketed as a substitute for a distribution tool my d00d
Duomo WDT is the best one i've seen.
So I thought before, but the needles are thicc and the distribution of them might not be great
@@MrMarki134 yeah. Recently I saw the Levercraft WDT and it seems better. Even James Hoffman was prasing it.
You can just shake the niche dosing cup daaah
A waste of money. Spend any extra cash on barista training instead.
I would like to know the difference between 30$ distributor vs 200$ distributor, why would I want to pay so much more for one?
