I mean I can't update the game because the app no longer works for me. The EA app won't update because I can't afford to update to Windows 10 from Windows 7.
Sorry to hear that, Windows 10 Pro is free to upgrade so you wouldn't have to purchase a new OS.

I'm so glad i backed up my save, mods, and tray files cuz i said fine whatever, update then. That update cleared EVERYTHING. 5 generations gone! Be cautious. I never would update so soon if i wasn't forced to.

Oh wow, my game auto updated. I had a backup a few saves ago, so I wouldn’t have had to start from zero. But my update was fine, still don’t like that it was FORCED.
With the recent news that EA is looking to add ADs into their games, I wouldn’t be surprised if they are working on “fixing” the foundation so they can implement that
I'll stop playing if there are adds. They have gotten so much money from me. I've earned an add free space.
They already advertise their packs in game enough. If they start selling adspace, I'm uninstalling the game.
Oh this is wanting me to update my game now.....I have not played in over 6 months due to bugs and could careless about it.....not even our son is playing it anymore.........and with their track record I am will to bet this game will soon be unplayable lol

Paralives has been ongoing for over 5 years now and there hasn't been any news on a release date either so I wouldn't expect that game anytime soon.

My only issue is that its forced, I know when I am choosing to play with an older version it *may* not be supported, but that’s my choice and my business.
I do use several gameplay mods and they are core to my gameplay. They seem to filter through this update unharmed, but it doesn’t make it okay.
I have a game that I can't play due to a problem in the app and when I asked EA they basically told me to buy the game again through their app, I'd say it's unbelievable, but it's EA.

Thankfully I don't play with a lot of mods either (mainly cc clothing), so I've already updated my game. You really hit the nail on the head when you said, "we don't know what to expect" cuz we really don't when it comes to EA. Most simmers (myself included) no longer trust them to release patches & DLCs that aren't severely broken. The crystal creations bug, the broken residential rental lot type that corrupted ppls saves, the growing together loose tooth glitch that also corrupted ppls saves, the broken high school years patch that caused ppls sims to rapidly age up/die of old age/have incestuous wants, the My Wedding Stories pack in general, & I could go on. Sure, some bugs are caused by outdated mods. But the ones I just listed weren't. Like you said only time will tell & actions always speak louder than words.
And the list goes on and on but those were definitely the most notorious ones I remember. Thank you for watching.

Same! If there is an update, I can't even play until the update is done. There must be a way to get around it? Are they forcing the Direct X update? It's so unclear from that message on launch.

Glad I've been on my Sims 3 wave for years now. I can bypass anything EA app related.
When you launch you game it pops up to update it or else you won't be able to play but there's nothing to update....crickets!! All the packs you buy and they do this? Bullies!!

I can understand why they're requiring this, and why people are upset. Since some people still work with outdated mods and they can get reports from people with outdated software, requiring an update to filter out the bugs makes sense. It can get a little hairy, since playing with a save across many updates is risky regardless. However, I do stumble when people say "I won't update until you fix the bugs!" I /kinda/ get it, since EA has been shirking their tasks with TS4, but you do kinda need to update you game to get most bug fixes. They do fix things occasionally, it's just not a priority. I do hope it becomes a bigger priority later.
I know the game is different for a lot of different people.. especially when you and buy or not buy a bunch of different packs, I got all but three, I update my game when the updates come out, and I have the EA App.. and I use a lot of mods.. I have 2195 mod files in 87 folders and 7.67 gigs of space for all them mods.. and I think my game runs fairly well most of the time, there are some bugs I would love to see fixed.. and some updates to the game I think they could update.. one being dinning out, that needs and overhaul a bit.. I would love to see the careers of get to work reworked as well.. the rabbit hole things, well, its a rabbit hole.. nothing needs to be fixed there, they just all disappear and do nothing, its the things you actually have to do which needs updating.. if that is the Doctor thing, then fix it, it always seems to be a problem when working the doctor office, when someone shows up pregnant, they will not deliver the baby.. pathetic.. or the detective career, should be totally reworked, and include with it the an update for a career thief and allow cops to catch thieves, not just a crime scene, but some burglar show up and try to steal something and you call the police, or they trip and alarm and the cops show up.. or not.. some times they might get away.. of you can take a photo of them, or they can send a team to the house to do their investigation gathering clues.. but over all, my game is pretty playable.. and all the mods I have, I update if need be, if the mod makers update their mods.. most do that I have mods for.. many love then new curse forge app, I am staying away from that.. I just use discord of the mod creators or keep their web pages in my bookmarks, so if I have to 50/50 some mods, if I figure out which is causing a problem, I can go look for an update.. but again, over all my game runs fairly decent with all the mods I have..

My app is so broken that my app won't connect and library won't load. Restarting hasn't worked, clearing cache hasn't worked, ending background processes... thousands of dollars down the drain
It’s not even the tenth I launched the game without the update, it indeed did not work 😭
I did the update today, but then got a message from my antivirus software saying it couldn't allow launch because the certificate isn't signed. Then I had to say whether to drop the launch, allow the launch once, or always allow.
I did update before 10 of June and now my the Sims 4 doesn't open, like the EA opens but when I go to play the Sims they something is wrong with ea
I play sims on ps4 and I have the sims 4 updated to the latest version and somehow it kept saying “game is trying to update connect to internet” in the corner repeatedly.

Since the recent update my game been crashing and the loading screen be stuck for hours i literally have to hard reset my PC every 5 mins and the graphics are messed up SMH!

Why should it matter? The EA App at least for me literally makes me restart it before I can play anyway DAILY. If they fix that then it shouldn’t matter 😂
We all know I’m no loyalist, but I get why they’re having us all be on the same update. But at the same time, you can’t blame people for not wanting to update when they add things that makes other things worse. Like it’s funny that they don’t even play test their patches before releasing them and then fix it. Cause an emergency patch isn’t it

Am I the only one experiencing serious lag issues after the update? My computer is ok and was playing very smoothly at medium quality before, but today I noticed that it became very slow and lagged badly even at low quality. Maybe it's a problem with my mod......

Your console will auto update as long as its on the internet.

I have no problems with the app. But I do not like the message from EA. This is not ok.
What's next? Are they gonna bork TS2UC & TS3 so we all have to switch to TS4??
