What an amazing tool! Very useful around the garden, especially for strawberries. For sure it helps loosening the soil around them without harming the stems. Wonderful video!
Perfection in every way !!! Respect for this blacksmith. An exquisite craftsman with a beautiful and clean forge. This is not a cultivator but a work of art!
Amazing how a length of a heavy spring can turn into a useful tool. I, very much appreciated, the way you performed the steps to yield the finished claw. Congratulations.
You've got to have some of the cleanest forging work I've seen, even mid-forging, nice straight lines, surfaces brushed clean. These are probably my favorite smithing videos on RUclips.
Whilst cleaning out my late grandpas garage I came across a huge old anvil. I’m so excited to try my hand at smithing and honour him and his work. Thanks for the inspiration and showing me a few lil projects I can get started on
The thing I like about your making anything.. is that at each step it looks good. Stuff is always adjusted back to normal so we can see how it is supposed to go. And, you don't stop at good enough. The draw knife was a work of art. Hope you think of more stuff to make.
Phew! For a minute, i thought the music would play the whole video... But thankfully it stopped. Again, a really nice piece. The blackening looks very nice in particular.

Thanks! Cool Sunday afternoon surprise! (East Coast US time) It would be cool to jump ahead 100 years and see what a genuine TA tool would sell for! I’ll bet they’ll be real collector items and probably very valuable things to pass on to the great grand kids.
It's a bit funny that I for a few days ago thought that it's time for Torbjörn to upload a new video! A few days later, it happens! :) Awesome video, awesome work as usually!
I could swear you magically get more material out of the same amount of coil spring than I do. That looked like quite the short piece but made for a beautiful tool. I'm gonna have to try to make one of these. Maybe I'll figure out where the material is hiding
Absolutely amazing. I've been watching forging since I was 13 years old, practicing here and there and just finally built my own Forge. You are an inspiration to anyone who is interested in blacksmithing or metal works of any type
@@torbjornahman Thanks! Just finished my first Damascus blade, a gift for my wife for Mother's Day. A bit rudimentary but I'm happy that I was actually able to forge weld for the first try. I'd send a pic but I don't think it's possible on RUclips comments. Thanks again for all the great videos.
I always admire the tools you make. Totally utilitarian and beautiful and unobtainable in the commercial market. I also appreciate that unlike a lot of RUclips blacksmiths you don't waste your time making silly weapons.
in order for the swage tongs to be made even more effective, one MUST click them a time or three before use @ 6:50. just like BBQ tongs. makes perfect sense now. great video BTW. all of them are.
A genius enjoying his work thoroughly. Amazed at the clarity of ideas and accuracy in implementation and ease with which he works. Your engineering skills are like poetry. I wish a lot of youngsters watch this video to be inspired. I never understood the concepts of engineering but am awestruck at the way this genius works. Thank you very much for this video.
As a mechanical engineer, I truly appreciate how you solve and attack each problem, or situation..like the saw blade in your lathe to create equal distancing center to center..most people would have broke their heads doing unnecessary math..keep up the great work!! And again, congrats on 500,000 subscribers!!
When the music started I was dismayed to think you had decided to use music throughout your videos. I was very relieved when the music stopped and I could again concentrate on the skills you were demonstrating and the wonderful sounds of your shop. The little snippets of music, used at appropriate points in your videos, have always been used nicely as brief highlights. Many thanks for the work you do and the chance to watch it happen.
What a beaut! So many delightful surprises in the processes that were used to take that short piece of spring steel and work it into the final instrument. Such pleasure.
I found the New Retro music and special effect added to his overall aesthetic. Keep doing what you feel is right in each individual video, besides, adding 45 seconds of music and a comedical special effect won't take away from your overall catalogue people know you for. By the way, I wish I had half your talent. You are an inspiration to many young men, keep up the amazing work.
That intro music had me thinking "Finally he's channeling his true inner Thunder Bear"! It's a good thing you're also a comedy genius, so you have something to fall back on when you eventually give up on becoming just a half decent blacksmith. On a serious note; it must be SO satisfying to use an absolutely beautiful tool that you've made yourself. - and why would you ever buy tools when you can make something like that in under 18 minutes?
Your having the skills is a great, You don't need anything else Sir. You are great at all them great tooling, Probably from long days and love for your work
I love that you don’t use music throughout the entire video - it leaves it open to interpretation. You could be a metal guy, indie guy, or maybe you’re into Barbie girl... I like to assume the latter

You never disappoint with your videos. As always a pleasure to watch and wonder how you managed to become so skillful to make it look like child's play. Thanks for the video.
I am thinking about starting blacksmithing myself. Even though it is fairly simple from a scientific point of view, I find it fascinating to see some old rusty block of Steel or Iron, or even some piece of scrap metal, being not just restored or taken apart for recycling, but really transformed into something completely new that is useful again. And what I like about your work, different to most other smiting channels, is that you create actual tools instead of just creating weapons. Of course an Axe or a Knife can kill, and so can a pencil, but it’s not the primary thing you can do with them. I want to create something that can actually be put to use, like an Axe to chop firewood with, a Knife to cut stuff with, a Pan, or something like that. Not something that gets created with the sole purpose to kill someone like a sword or a dagger. I find it a perversion of this fertile art to use it to create means of death and destruction.
Reminded me of one of my favourite films, Sherlock Holmes’s The Scarlet Claw. Obvious flaw, it isn’t scarlet. Thank you for making these videos. Stay safe, stay healthy.
