Very sad. Caught this video by chance. Makes you realise how old you are getting. I’m thinking of all my loved ones that I’ve lost . People I would sit with and watch Brookside with . Especially my mum who I adored and my darling husband who also died too young. 😢
Sorry for your loss. I loved Brookside in the eighties and early nineties. I watched every episode and often again when the omnibus was on every Saturday. I was not allowed to watch it until 1984 once Channel 4 had responded to the complaints about swearing and it supposedly being a bad influence on society. Compared to today it was extremely tame. I am watching the re-run on STV having postponed it for over a year so I am watching a few hours at a time to ensure I finish it in a few months. I cannot believe I am watching television from forty years ago and it is as good as I remembered it for the most part. It ebbs and flows but this is also what I thought at the time. There is a lot of good acting, some less so. I cannot believe how grim the eighties looked at times though it was only thirty five years since the end of the war when the decade began so it is not surprising. The cars look so old fashioned as does the decor in the houses. I loved the theme music then and still do- the opening as well as the close out credits.
@ I’d go back to those times in a heartbeat . Happy carefree times. Plus all our loved ones we’ve lost would still be here. . Enjoy the rest of the series.x
Can relate my mum passed away earlier this year , good and bad days, we will all have to cope with grief at some point, welling up writing this , stay strong
@@johnou.k.3780 After my husband died suddenly 20 yrs ago . I swore I’d would never marry again as I didn’t want to suffer that kind of grief again. My husband was only in his 40s when he died. Over the those 20 year I spent more and more time with my mum , she was like my best friend . When she died 2 yrs ago , her death affected me more than I ever thought possible . I miss her every day . I know the pain you are going through . What I do is still and always think of her in the present and not the past , she’s with me always . So sad and scary, I’m older than many of them no longer here. I met Gladys Ambrose at a charity football match I was part of and she was the most down to earth person there. Ive pictures of her and me and she even broke into character for me. RIP ❤
I remember Ian Hendry from the film 'Theatre of Blood' ; he had throat cancer whilst appearing on Brookside and it was his last TV role as far as I know..
Remember him playing the gangster's driver in Get Carter. Michael Caine sez to him "You know what? Eric. Did anyone ever tell you you've got eyes like two pissholes in the snow"
I loved Brookside used to watch it religiously Barry was my favourite so sad to see soo many lives lost everyone of them were a credit to the show. May we all meet in Heaven one day
I loved Brookie and was truly disappointed when the series ended in 2003. All the deaths are sad and more so because many passed on quite young. Poor Kristian Ealey only got 38 years of life whilst my favourite, Kenneth Cope was allotted 93 years. Thanks for the entertainment, Mary Tamm, Dean Sullivan, Bernie Nolan, Bill Dean, Doreen Sloane, Gladys Ambrose, John Burgess, Ian Hendry, Ebony Gray and everyone in this special video. 🌷🥀🥀🌹🌹🌺🌺🌼🌼🏵🏵🌷.
would not be the same anymore brookie in it day had so many locals in the cast now it would be none locals jimmy cookhill made brookside sinbad the window cleaner tin ed clair sweeney there was not a soap like it or that is still on to this day that had locals in it hollyoaks tried as some where in brookside now there from all over the place ok you had bread but they where mostly jarg scouses
RIP to all these old familiar faces. Scary watching this type of video sometimes and realising retirement and feet up for a few years isn't a sure thing for all of us.
Remember when working in the Radio and TV department of a departmental store and most of my work colleagues would watch this in the office on Saturday at the time of cashing up. That was '84. I never really got into it but I recognise many faces of those now gone.
I remember when Doreen Sloane died, the first of the cast? Seemed the writers didn’t have much time to write her out. So sad so many died well before their 3 score and 10.
Didn't know Freddie Boardley had left us. He made a living playing Glasgow hard men. He used to advertise Mcewans Export with Karl Howman and came to a sticky end in Taggart

The series ended 22 years ago. It's no great surprise that some of the cast are no longer alive. The actor Bill Dean, first left of the three photos would be 102 if still alive.

Loved brookside so sad to see how many folk have passed 💔🙏
Brookside was such a pioneering drama. Well written, brave and well acted. RIP to those fabulous actors who have passed.
So so many gone too soon. Really thought provoking. Brookside was so good in its hey day ❤
So many great memories of classic Brookside , I hadn't realised that several of those who acted in it had sadly passed.

Jimmy Corkhill was a fascinating character. Despicable yet there's a good person somewhere in there.

Nice thought, but can you imagine the woke nightmare it would be now?, stopped watching Corrie 10 years ago, sheer lunacy.
Used to live around the corner. Loved it when I first realised the fact, as I was also a big fan of Brookside.
Cant believe these people are no longer with us,they became like friends.

Yes there was, a couple of terrible ones as well though , the kid that played Damon was awful and Jimmy Corkhill`s wife always fluffed her lines.
The Late GREAT Bill Dean, starred in so many plays and film’s always gave an outstanding performance…Wonderful Actor.
Loved shirley stelfox in keeping up appearances and emmerdale
Same here - I also loved her in the film Pat and Margaret - The Terrible Vera

Jim Wiggins who played Paul Collins was my english teacher at Birchfield Road school in the mid 1960's .
The untimely death of Doreen Sloane. The Collinses could have remained longer in the series had things been different.
Yes very sudden. I posted elsewhere I think she was the first cast member to die.
Alot of these also acted in other dramas films and sitcoms. ❤
Seemed like every other actor died of cancer.. so many taken too soon 😪
Very moving so many died so young You missed out Ray Dunbobbin who played Ralph, He was in the Liver Birds and a few Episodes in Porridge
