Nice car and great review. Just an FYI- these are rated at 480 hp and 460 tq, but with Sport Chrono it is still 480 hp with an increase to 505 tq. for 10 seconds of over-boost. Note to the new owner- swap the intake back to stock. That set up is robbing power and not adding any most likely. Thanks for sharing this car with us.

Damn good video! And that’s saying a lot since everyone is doing videos on the Mezger motor 997.1 turbo manual coupes these days. I have a 2008 myself and will pass it on down to my son regardless of how much it continues to soar in value. I have daily driven it since early Jan 2017. And I live in NY. The rear seats are perfect for small children. Checks all the boxes as it’s got traction for cold, slippery days, a surprisingly comfortable upright seating position that’s more akin to an S Class than a comparable super car. Thee ease of egress and ingress mean getting in and out are far easier on your knees and back as well. It’s THAT good. If you’re on the fence, my only advice to you is buy it now before it’s no longer even an option fiscally. Then flip for a solid profit. You just CANNOT lose with this car.
Thanks for the video! I bought our 2007 997.1 two months ago (December 2021) My wife wanted to test drive a Panamera. We didn’t care for it, too synthetic. Then I looked down the row of 911s. I asked which one was a stick. ONE CAR! Well, I drove it and couldn’t get it out of my mind! It’s black with the upgraded supple full leather interior (in saddle which is an awesome combination in my opinion) I didn’t expect to buy it! We own several collector cars but no Porsches. I owned a 911 back in the 80’s and a 928 in the early 2000’s (wish I still had it). It was difficult to wrap my arms around the price as I thought $95,000 +/- made sense considering the age of the car. (Oh mileage was 26,000) I capitulated and paid within a few dollars of what the car featured is listed for! A velvet hammer this car is, and I smell the leather from here!
Congrats and best of luck with your Turbo! I wish I could find a 997.1 manual with low mileage like that. I’m in the market and seems like all low mileage cars are above the 120K mark now. Some even higher.
I have one of these and your review is great, very accurate. The 3rd and 4th gear pulls you did give you exactly the same feeling of driving the car, it felt very familiar
Mine is a 2008 997.1 TT Cab with a 6 speed, best car I've ever owned. The mods for this thing are endless! So far I have put a Klien exhaust, IPD turbo plenum and Gt3 throttle body, IPD high flow Y pipe, Fabspeed carbon fiber intake, and stage 1 tuning by Cobb. In two week I take her in for a SPEC stage 3 clutch and single mass flywheel, BBI slave cylinder, RSS rear dog bones and front/rear toe-bump linkages, AMS intercoolers, and stage 3 tuning!
I have a 997.1 Turbo Cab. With Tip. A 2009 with ceramics, and most factory options. Stock exhaust, low miles, and well maintained. I love this car, and will never sell it. A manual would have been nice, but I really like the Tip. I also have a 2012 Turbo Coupe with PDK, but for a combination of reason, I just seen to enjoy the 2009 more.
Mine is a tip too. So much disrespect for the tip. It holds tons of power and isn't as costly to repair or replace like the PDK. I've drive almost exclusively in "manual" mode and love the 2nd gear pulls.
yep. and the sony touchscreen still has the physical buttons for volume and next track underneath the screen (ie the important ones that you need to be easy to get to while changing gears).

I have owned this car for three years the 997.1 turbo which is considered the true mezger because the e internal engine metals were the same materials as their racing cars. Those rare metals were never used again hence the mezger engine . That is why this engine can push 1500 hp when tuned properly. This is a true gem.
Liked and subbed. Great review. I love your enthusiasm and style. I could live with less "Rights" but that seems to be the thing these days lol. I agree, modifying these for more power is silly and does nothing but kill the value. This one is super sweet and I'll be looking at their inventory!
Thanks for watching and subscribing sir. Working on new content right now, we’re switching cameras and mics, so hopefully you will see a little quality bump.
As someone who has one and is now making 1209WHP on $2.50 per gallon E85, I’d have to disagree. Monetary value, will be the same as stock if done by a highly reputable Porsche exclusive tuning house. The Mezger motors are the perfect candidate for extreme builds. Unlike just about any street legal car on the planet, this car, still utilizing the stock engine block, heads, crank, ECU transmission and full interior is perfectly daily drivable. Sure I’ve spent several tens of thousands and won’t get a penny back, but they way I’ve done it with who I’ve done it with means I won’t lose a penny in value and you just can’t put a dollar value on the experience of accelerating the way this car does and yet docile enough for date night with the wife.
I have one, engine built by SharkWerks, 600+ to the ground. They are also phenomenal vehicles stock, very much fun to drive, so much enjoyment listening to the engine/turbos and the feel is incredible. The powerband is continual with mine, 1st gear is very short but absolutely a wonderful car. I would never recommend buying a car as an investment (minus obvious examples, i.e. Shelby Cobra, 959, etc.) but, hopefully, the Porsche market continues to climb and this generation is a definite plus regardless. FWIW, the 997 is the last generation you could get the turbo in a manual and the Mezger engine is bullet-proof. I have been told by builders that you can push 1000+ HP through it without modifications. It was based on the GT1 racing engine.
Great car if you like a manual. Very analog last of the breed. Of course the 997.2 Turbo S is a faster car. But it’s a different engine etc. The PDK is awesome but scary if it ever breaks. The manual is easy to maintain. I think it’s the next 993 turbo in terms of value. Not yet but it will get there.
Nice video. If you have the money, buy this car. It’s money parked in the garage that you can enjoy. I have an 07 997 TT manual with 16k miles. Hands down one of the last of the best raw sports cars you can buy. It’s also worth mentioning that the 997 is the last “Turbo” 911 with a manual trans.
Love the 911 turbo as it is my all time dream car. I have never ever cared about other sports cars. I’m pretty much picky about mods because i truly love these cars. The only modifications what i accept and even appreciate is what coming from RUF. They really know everything about Porsches even creating and doing things before Porsche like the g50 transmission in the 1980’s. I really don’t like these stupid aftermarket airfilters what is on the video. Ripping out the airfilter boxes is not a smart thing. You can buy type specific airfilters what would give you better performance without ruining the car and it’s value.
No way thats a six speed Turbo then. IG or email me the link. Probably a Tipronic at best. Watch this video, the trans ain’t as bad as some people say, but manual is the way to go. ruclips.net/video/ILzCB79U9Kg/видео.html
why? the reason water elbow glue failed is that they run their vehicle too hot. I have one @52K miles never had an issue if you drive it just above normal.
@Joelusa1 unfortunately that is far from true. At 52k miles you will be experiencing the dreaded coolant leak soon. Have $7k put aside for the engine pull and repair. It happened to me too. At roughly 55k miles. I take relentless care of my 997 Turbo. But it happened. I wasn't pleased but now is back together and enjoying the California coastline again. IG Calspeed
@@calspeed1 Yep, mine was already starting to leak at 50K so I decided to do a replace on all the elbows since the engine was already out for some other car upgrades. It's basically not a matter of "if" but "when."
haha bulletproof. I have a 997.1 turbo I've owned for 13 years. It's definitely NOT bulletproof. I've had every known error happen to me: epoxy coolant pipe failure, spun camshaft drivers side, failed spoiler deployment, autotrans gasket seal leak, radiator leaks from the awful design with grills that allow every rock chip to enter. Despite all this i still LOVE the car. Just don't buy any of these cars going in thinking they're bulletproof. Yes they may not have the IMS bearing issue but they definitely can and will have very costly issues.
@@krisi.2011 on mass production cars, I think yes but new supply will stay tight, but demand will also fall to offset. Wait two months market may shift. No more over MSRP soon, but Porsche may be the exception across the board. I think these will all go for MSRP or higher within 3 years.
