I wrote this comment the month I finally got a home after the fallout of being robbed for half my life savings resulted in the loss of who I thought was the love of my life I supported for years, our rescue dog and our home for the previous 6 months. Over that time I got sexually assaulted, physically and vehicularly assaulted, lost one of my closest remaining family members to cancer, was ostracized from all of my friends, worked daily 10-14 hour shifts to pay for an Air BnB the size of a closet that cost 4 times average rent, got off and helped my former partner stumble out of bars to prevent another near overdose with the person who sexually assaulted me and lied about it to split us up. BUT, even after thinking I would never be happy, or trust, or love anyone ever again. I found somebody legitimately perfect. They incredibly survived very similar trials quite some time before our meeting and had plenty of much-needed wisdom on dealing with such trauma. Also a talented artist/former European fashion model with an amazing sense of humor, the kindest soul and the most beautiful singing voice I’ve ever heard. Just goes to show, no matter how bleak things look and how bad shit gets, it’s always possible to find the light on the other side of the dark tunnel we all walk from time to time.
