      Exactly, oats are definitely less expensive, especially if you grind your own oat flour, and I also enjoy the taste of the oats.

    This recipe is great! I tried it twice (although I tweaked it both times).
    The first time I did 2 TBsp butter and 2 TBsp applesauce, and I added more milk.
    The second time I didnt have eggs so I added a small piece of mashed banana, along with the first 2 tweaks I mentioned.
    Both times they were super good!

    I've been making half all purpose, half oat flour pancake/waffle mix that I keep in a jar on my counter. It's inspired by your cooking style since I mix it with milk, yogurt, egg, and applesauce! But with the cornstarch trick, maybe I can try for 100% oat! Thanks for the awesome ideas 👍

    It is worth noting that using a detergent cleaner on a waffle plate is never recommended ruclips.net/user/postUgkxUfphIgghPSpAXNq6OG2WRYsFVqylcqMn though people who don't understand about kitchen hygiene won't understand that a stiff brush is all that is necessary to clean the inside of the unit. Let it cool slightly but still perform the cleaning while it's warm. I used to have a Black and Decker unit that I just loved, and was concerned when we had to replace it that I might not find one that I like just as much. This one does it for me.

That means I fast all day on Monday and Tuesday, then eat on Wednesday, then fast on Thursday and Friday and eat on Saturday and Sunday, then fast on Monday and Tuesday, and eat on Wednesday, etc. I keep Saturday and Sunday open for eating, then I get right back into my fasting routine. I respectfully disagree. Easier with fewer ingredients, yes, but homemade applesauce and NF Greek yogurt are healthy additions. And a miniscule 1 tablespoon each of coconut oil and honey (my personal favorites instead of unhealthy processed fats and sugars that are out there) are not unhealthy and do add to the taste and texture. I followed his recipe exactly and was blown away! Since I'm trying to stay gluten-free, per my rheumatologist, I intend to use these waffles as a bread for sandwiches as well!

      Do you know what the measurements are for the recipe your talking about??

    • @clausch.3517
      @clausch.3517 3 года назад

      @@sarahsantos4001 Same volume of oat flour as milk, for example: half a cup of oat flour and half a cup of milk. Keep in mind that oat absorbs liquids so you may have to keep an eye on the milk used. As for the baking powder I use between half and 3/4 of a teaspoon per half a cup of oat flour. Add some vanilla extract and cinnamon or cocoa powder and you're good to go.

    Then I made this waffle recipe. It is delicious and so versatile! So good with homemade chia-blueberry/blackberry spread.
    For lunch today, I made avocado "toast" with a sliced boiled egg and sprinkle of salt and used the oat waffle instead of bread. Great bread substitution! 😋

      Yes, you could do that too, but put the batter in the fridge as soon as possible, to slower the leavening reaction. Also I would go with 1 tsp baking powder instead of 2, and maybe make the batter even more thick, adding a bit less milk.

    Already make wafels with oatsflour, but the new thing i learned here is to add some cornstarch. I will give that a try if, as you say, it will add crispyness (which i found a bit to be missing in my oat based wafels).

      I use cornstarch with my oats all the time, just improves the texture in the lack of gluten.
