The part where Ushio mentions that the lights represent the hope of someone in the other world and shows all the main characters while this song is playing was one of the best scenes in the whole series.
When I discovered this song in 2005 I was enraptured by it. To this day I still occasionally revisit it. It has existed on every CD I burnt, Every MP3 player I have ever owned, and on every computer I've ever owned. It is a timeless song that I will still listen to with the same amount of wonder and awe as I had on the first day I heard this song. I hope others come to feel the same way about this song. It is an essentially perfect start to the album and if you remove "Over" then the entire album plays as a journey into something liminal. It's soul stirring and heart moving...
You have beautifully worded the feelings that enraptured when we’ve first heard of this absolute masterpiece of a music, feelings that still continuously haunts us to this day.
The entire last episode of Clannad After Story was just one of the most perfect works of fiction I have ever witnessed. It was...glorious. I'll never be able to get over how perfect it was, and how everything tied together, and just...gah. ;A; I know a lot of people hated the ending. I didn't mind it at all. It made sense, it was foreshadowed, it has a legitimate explanation and it gave the characters the happiness they deserved. And it was a beautiful ending to a beautiful series, imho.
even ten years later ppl are still upset about it lol. for me as well it was a perfect ending from the build up, the different segments in the illusionary world, fuko's relation to that world, nagisa's connection to the city and how she was able to recall the illusionary world, and tomoya's connection to that as well when ushio built the robot in his memory, which is kinda sad to think about but I believe it was some kind of dream world that the city had created to house all those orbs in order to grant those in the city their wishes but it was tomoya that needed to make those connections in order to grant people their wishes. the vn goes more in depth for all the supernatural stuff but the anime did it perfectly as they could. def one of the best written pieces of fiction i've ever read/watch and even still I find new stuff about it that I previously didn't know whenever I look into it.
Clannad...one of the masterpieces in anime, I can't find something as great as this series... Just by listening to the soundtrack I feel sad and happy at the same time...I'm glad I watched this anime, I was skeptical about it...
This has to be my favorite track of Clannad. The low chanting mixed in with the slow, haunting, and eerie otherworldly beat brings out a feeling of fear and unbearable loneliness for me, but at the same time it's oddly comforting and even hopeful. It's definitely a weird package of emotions.

these are some powerful words, they just make me think over and over. thinking about his loss is just so sad... i cant believe how touching everything about this anime and everything connected to it is. its the best thing ever
"I am this world", the understanding of the Otherworld dimensions, and the reveal at the end is absolutely beautiful in the show. She has always been pure soul, angelic. Thank you Ushio for existing and reminding us all the eternal love of family.
I had forgotten this song existed for years and I come back and re-discover it now... CHILLS. EVERYWHERE. What a MASTERPIECE of music; stunning incredible work.
Whenever I hear this song I cannot help but weep silently. The combination of the sad events it reminds me of in Clannad as well as the overwhelming beauty of the song itself is just too much to take.
When I was showing Clannad to my parents my dad asked what the subtitles on the bottom of the screen were for. I said, "They're the lyrics to the song in the background," He then asked, "What song?" They were just that enthralled. :'D
I never realised how freakin' epic and pretty this song is until I listened to this video. It's really makes me feel better when I'm sad. Thanks for posting!
I am walking. I don't know where I am going or when I will be there. I just know I will get there. The scenery is always changing. Like the wind is just blowing it by me and I only get to see a small part. Forests, mountains, plains, all blow by as I walk. Is this a dead world? or a world that has ended? Or is this a world that is being born? or a world that is beginning? As the song ends I reach it. But I can not begin to comprehend, let alone describe, what I have reached at the end of this...
It was a world created by Ushio after her original death. When Ushio died, Ushio created a world where they could both be together. But at the same time, Tomoya was still in the original world collecting lights to make his wish (to bring Nagisa back to life). So technically, everything that happened in the anime was before the VN, except the ending, which was the actual ending of the VN. As Ushio said, Tomoya was the one who existed in BOTH worlds, as the two existed alongside each other.
You know... I heard that this show was sad, and I figured... eh, must be some cheesy not-so-sad thing I can handle... I was wrong beyond all measure ;_; I haven't cried that hard in a show since the end of the Fullmetal Alchemist (not brotherhood...) And grave of the fireflies
I just felt the same before watching it....Man never I have been so wrong in my entire Life! This Anime was just....man....This Rollercoaster Trip from happy to so-sad-you-don't-think-you-can-ever-be-happy-again....damn.... >_
My take on Clannad is a such: The first series shows you what beauty you can find if you open your eyes and look around, and how much you can gain when you do so. After story shows you how terrible it is when you lose everything, and yet how hope still remains when it all looks to have collapsed around you. The storyline and all of the interweaving character arcs, while dropping into schmaltz at certain points, have enough gravitas without becoming portentous, and the humor is well placed and well timed although it does occasionally drop into silliness which can take you out of the story. Fortunately, it's really easy to become immersed in the story despite this, so it isn't a fatal flaw. The animation style is......well, cartoony. It's not the most sophisticated drawing style and character design set you'll ever see, but a drawing style needs to fit the tone of the anime and in Clannad's case this style is spot on for the purpose of carrying the narrative. There are also some possible problems with the ending which have been voiced by some commenters on this medium. Without specifically spoiling, there is a huge deus ex machina which may annoy some. However, I think both series set up the reason as to WHY this happens throughout its duration, so it deserves to be able to pull that card right at the end. This should at least be given a look if you like character and story driven anime as opposed to the aesthetic eye candy that looks to be starting to dominate current anime releases. Even if it's story and animation style don't win you over, the sheer attention to detail that goes into the character relations and their pasts and development are to be admired.
Yes there it isn't any deus machina in anime if you pay atention in some details you ill see that from the beginig of tje anime the orbs that appear in all the arcs did this not cuz was needed but cuz Tomoya deserve it when he was collecting them by making people achieve the happiness
....Please forgive me, but I've never seen such an over-analysis of an anime in my life. It's... an anime, not a Oscar-nominated film being critically reviewed from the New York Times. My Goodness.
During this I cried so hard... But all my tears were wasted when nagesa and ushio came back to life... Because my favorite scene when ushio called tomoya daddy I seriously cried... It was so cute that is why I'd rather have them both be dead than brought back to life. That scene touched my heart and I'm about to cry just thinking about it...if they hadn't met that I'd just be totally mad that's why.
Clannad vai ficar marcado na minha vida pra sempre, sem dúvida o melhor anime de romance que eu já assisti, o enrendo perfeito e essa trilha sonora maravilhosa pra acompanhar deixa tudo muito bom
It's almost dark, the world is ending, the brightful angels are leading the humans into a way, a crossing to a new place. They are singing this music. The final moment is coming, the music reaches the climax and the energies flow with it. Our work is done. Everyone is going home.
I convinced my brother to watch clannad but he barely paid any attention to it. He had no idea what was happening and never gave it a true chance. He didn't try to like the characters. I really wish he would rewatch this absolutely undeniable masterpiece
Illusions and shadows hidden in a world we don't know of. A dreamland. A mystery still locked. If any of us were there would our thoughts reach anybody here. A life alone. A life without death ,time or hopes or dreams. For that land somebody keeps tipping the half full hourglass upside down. Times the same. No warmth. No spirit, No point in there or is there. That was my perspective of the ilusionary world.
I don't know, but listening to this majestic song gives me goosebumps all throughout my body... but in a calming way. Now I'm thinking of making using this song for the slide-show of pictures of the brave souls giving aid and rescue to the victims from the recent tragedy that has hit Japan (earthquake, tsunami and nuclear crisis) as a tribute...
This somehow captures the feel of a distant world. Unknown, but beautiful. There is a hint of loneliness, sadness and love. God I love this anime and its OST.
ushio granted her dads wish for nagisa, tomoya, and herself to all be together. that's why it flashes back to nagisa giving birth to ushio. she gave her dad the one thing he wanted most.
This is one of my favourite songs on the soundtrack!!!!It has a combination of a variety of emotions which makes it sound brilliant!!!Clannad was the first anime I watched and is still my favourite!!!!

Due to the name of this song "the Girl's fantasy", do you then think it was all just a dream, and the place where the real world begins is when Fuu-chan is approaching Ushio, saying "now is when all the fun things start"
"I have to remain here, because in this world, I am the world"
I love how this part plays out so well.
The part where Ushio mentions that the lights represent the hope of someone in the other world and shows all the main characters while this song is playing was one of the best scenes in the whole series.

This song is wonderfully beautiful, and is played at the climax of the entire series... a very powerful combination for a scene.
Clannad can make you cry or laugh in the same time, its just GREAT anime
Can't believe that it's been 15 years...
19 years if you consider that the vn this Music originates from launched in 2004...
