Isn't my city beautiful? I moved here from N.Y. 46 years ago, and never looked back buddy. I know its hot here, in the summer time, but It is a very friendly, family oriented place. And I raised my kids here. I know they have taken some attractions away, but they have a habit of recreating itself. I'm sure when you come back, there will be some pleasant surprises for you. If you visit in the spring or Fall the weather is beautiful!
A long time ago, several decades, I remember going to see a movie in one of those buildings across from the Alamo. It was a short tourist film about the Alamo. I love San Antonio, especially the river walk!
As a native Texan, I support the current move of the Alamo historical society wanting to preserve the original fort site. We have seen too many historical sites and statues fall to “progress”.
Jacob ur videos always brighten my day l have an illness which makes it hard to travel it takes a lot out of me wen l watch u it’s like going on vacation with an amazing tour guide without the hassle lol thank you and may god bless you while on ur journeys 😎🥸🤓
We were there a couple of years ago and were told when the leases for the stores are up, they won't be able to sign a new one. It was said they are wanting it to be more historical and you can't do this with tacky stores & other things.
That Joker was actually joaquin phoenix on the stairs. He is the newest to become Joker. Loved the video
That wax museum was hilarious. They looked like they were created purely from the artists' memory, with no references what so ever.
Good morning Jacob 🌞👋 thanks again for sharing Aventura to the Alamo. You have fun, stay safe.🤓📸👍
I wonder if they will finally recreate the Alamo's basement.😂🤣
My bicycle!
I'm sorry some of the tourist attractions are being removed, but I would think historical restoration is pretty important! Thanks for the video!
Yeah…preserving the history of our country SHOULD come first.
I visited the Alamo over 43 years ago. It sure looks different now😊 Great video!
5 days ago I was recently on the San Antonio Alamo place, and there I was passing by and there seeing Carpetbagger himself passing by him while he was recording! Don’t believe me? I was really there!
You are lucky
I can always rely on you to make me smile! Thank you Jacob!😊
Love the channel long time .thanks for taking us along for the adventures ❤🎉😊
It's amazing how I look forward to your videos, it always feels like going to cool places with a cool friend. Thanks buddy 😢
I always begin your videos with hitting like because other than your car troubles or troll talks ; I enjoy your travels alot and one day will run into you. .only wish I knew you had been in town for the Greenfield village / Henry Ford museums that day. I adore the village and have been numerous times since childhood...learning in the old school with a Mc Guffy reader , while dressed like Laura Ingalls...loved it and then my kids all did it too .took my son once dressed in KNICKERS and saddle shoes for toddlers was my favorite day ever
..he is now 19 and no longer a baby ...my oldest said why are we visiting a place where all the people are dead now Mom ? I think she was 6 yrs old and wasnt thrilled with the village then but now she invites us to go see the village all lit for Christmas and have an old fashioned Amish dinner which was fantastic...many happy memories there
I guess it right again! Thought about going down to the Alamo but figured we probably were going to be too late to see you there as my son slept in late yesterday . He is guessing you are at the Witte today. We will go check! Hope to see you. My guess is you are moving on to the next location out of SA. Wherever it is I will watch and enjoy your videos so much! Have fun!
My son made a video honoring you on my channel. Hope you love it!
I’ve actually been there and I LOVED it. I miss San Antonio. I miss Texas regardless. I LOVED the fishies outside there too haha. My aunt would take my sisters and I down to Texas every summer to visit my great uncle and we’d find things to do and enjoy.
Ripleys looks so much fun! I need to go check it out .
In 1980 I was stationed at Ft Sam Houston near San Antonio. I do not remember those attractions being across the street back then. They could have been but I don’t recall. But there was a bus stop out front. I’m glad they are taking back some property for historical purposes.
Thank you for your military service
@@mollysmith1226 Oh my gosh thank you for such a sweet comment. They were done of the best times of my life. ❤️
I love seeing all those Ripley's places
Was really busy this past week, trying to catch up! Hugs💜
Love Ripley's and the wax museum.
Daaaaavey, Davey Crockett king of the wild frontier!
Thanks for video. Always wanted to visit the Alamo. This is as close as I ever have
I've only just started watching, and I hope you check for the basement. :)
Jacob, I found a channel that I thought you would like. It's under The Wonders of mechanics and the title of the episode is C.W. Parker Carousel Museum. I thouht you and your viewers would enjoy it, so much more if you were there.
Before the Tomb Rider ride, there was a ride called Davy Crocket's Tall Tales.
The Ripleys haunted house was actually kind of scary!
Hey CB! Not sure if this has been mentioned before but look up a "Penny Passport" to keep your pressed pennies in. It should be a leather bound binder about the size of an actual passport that holds about 36 of those pennies.
Well one thing we can be assured of is that no matter what attractions leave, we know that the basement in the Alamo will always still be there. :D
I am very glad that they are bringing the Alamo back... its a shame that they didn't keep more of the fort intact. Love your videos.
Totally
Carpetbagger remembers The Alamo.
I saw you at meow wolf, and I recognized you! And I DIDNT KNOW WHO U WERE. I came home and was so upset that I didn’t take a picture with u!!!!
Love the video you got your jokers mixed-up from the wax museum the one in the red suit is Joaquin Phoenix who played the joker in the joker movie. Heath ledge was the joker in the dark knight
I love you carpet bagger! Keep up the awesome videos man, please!!!
32:27 (Best Mr. Burns) "Excellent!"
Sad. I was there in May of 2021, and I visited all those attractions. They also had a mirror maze and an escape room .
I love how excited you are about your fur baring bass you received you are a great man shows you truly cherish gifts that people give you. You are so awesome Jacob thanks for years of entertainment this is my new channel. I used the same profile pic though. I did it so I could get premium for free 😂
My daughter and I dropped your name at Ripley's in Niagara Falls today.
Hope you checked out the basement of the Alamo. Lol
Wallpaper is making a huge comeback and most of it is super pricey too.
As I lay in bed picturing myself in a rv traveling while watching your videos I feel a relaxing sense of peace
Oh man 😳 those are some of the creepiest wax figures that You have ever shown 😹 It was funny when You scared Yourself sitting at the illusion poker table 🤭 I think that recreating the original Alamo fort is more important than the tourist attractions, especially because there are so many elsewhere, and there is only one Alamo 🤠 Thanks again for braving the heat to make another great video Jacob 🥵🙏💝😻
Just wanted to share that 5 Thomas Dambo trolls are coming to the Pacific Northwest. One in Portland. I would love to see you and Jenn seek them out.
Yeah, the weather really sucks down here. If you ever get that chance you should stay at the Menger. Kinda cool and is very haunted.
I visited yesterday. 107° so humid
Wow. I moved away from San Antonio a few years ago and had no idea they were doing this. I guess understand why they’re reclaiming that area for the Alamo, but I honestly thought it was kinda cool to see how the city grew up around the mission. There are several other missions around the area that still have more of the orignal land area so the Alamo was unique in that respect. Oh, well.
Cool! You are close to the Riverwalk also. San Antonio seems to be having some problems. Probably from Covid debacle. I'm not sure the extent of it but hopefully it will bounce back.
Some of the figures in Wax Museum look spot on and some look absolutely nothing like who they are supposed to be. Weird.
34:44 the prince looks more like the undertaker getting ready to do his job, as in to pull out a tombstone piledriver!!
Pretty sad wax museum. Most of the figures didn't even come close to looking like who they were trying to portray.
Love this video carpetbagger your t shirt looks so colourful in this amazing video this one is in the bag.
Ooh. The wax museum is rough looking.
8:18 timestamp - Is somebody battling a bear? "Kilt him a bar(bear) when he was only three Davy, Davy Crockett, king of the wild frontier" from "The Ballad of Davey Crockett
Wow! I’m glad they are trying to be the whole Alamo fort back. I’m sad for the businesses losing their jobs, but they lived a great life. Hope you have a great day Jake!
I agree!
Love your videos, Jacob. A couple things about this one though:
Prince Harry does have a last name. It is Windsor-Mountbatten.
And that isn't Heath Ledger. It is Joaquin Phoenix. :)
Love your work though :)
I'm voting Jacob for president! My big inspiration. Always positive in the most disappointing situations. Always smiling and appreciative and not scared to be him self anywhere. ❤
i guess that's why the gazebo got thrown out. the front part will help open up some space in the green/back yard if they move the Living History demonstrations over there.
Lol at the Poker table
Wolpertinger - word for the week.
Great video Jacob . I miss the Ripleys haunted house 😢
Explore the Mission trail. It includes 4 missions that extends 15 miles south of San Antonio
Epic!
Visited some of the other missions and enjoyed them more (less crowded). Got startled at one as they had a mannequin of Jesus, I believe it was, in a glass case. Was not expecting to see that. Had an interesting experience at one, not sure of which exactly. All in all worth the time spent seeing them.
in all honesty. the downtown historical/ alamo society of sorts have been fighting against the signing and sidewalk promoters in Alamo Plaza for decades. ....didn't realize the businesses would leave or be removed..
Tomb Rider was one of the attractions right at the top of my bucket list since I saw your video on it, very sad I won’t get to ride it :(
i hope you will have a great day in texas.
by exploring everything.
Remember the Alamo ... attractions
What you are calling the “Mission” was the unfinished church. The whole complex was Mission San Antonio Valero, the first of the five missions in San Antonio.
It looks really interesting the changes that are being made on the Alamo.. It will be great to see the finished results... Hope your doing well and keeping cool.... XXX
Jacob toward the end of the video when you were looking at the horror section and you saw the truck with the license plate BEATINGU, that was from Jeepers Creepers.
Alamo Paint Ball Course!
Pancho Villa wasn't a bandit, he was a general during the Mexican revolution.
I was at the Alamo about 7 years ago.
Epic!
@@EpiCTriPpiNDeAdaHeAd cool
Do you remember it?
@@GR8FLMD3AD Oh yeah. I had a great time!!
love your awesome videos
Me too
and they are like every day its so EPIC!!!
River Walk San Antonio is also good
Did you get to see the basement?
They can put a Ripley anywhere. You're is only one place for the Alamo.
Don't miss the basement. Best part of the Alamo.
I store my bicycle there at night.
That wasn't the heath ledger joker. It was Joaquin pheonix
Jacob, I love your channel! Your an absolute riot. For a guy who doesint like roller coasters you sure ride a lot of them. I love watching your face as you do 😂 I so want to ride Iron Gwazi. You should ride Velocicoaster if you have not. I got a chance to ride that one and it's brilliant. Your channel is amazing keep up the good work! Oh BTW the 2nd Joker in the wax museum was Joaquin Phoenix not Health Ledger.
If memory serves, wasn't Davy Crockett the mythological persona, while David Crockett was the *official* name used on documents and whatnot? 🤔
It's a shame they didn't at least relocate the fun rides somewhere nearby.
Did they get rid of that fun house in the Odditirium? Last time I went, they had a room with sloped floors, a severed female head that talked (it was a hologram) and a hypnosis spiral
It was not built as a fort. It was built by the Spanish to convert Native Americans to catholicism. That's why it had windows all around and a chapel. The Commanches couldn't be converted so the Spanish stopped construction.
Why don't you just keep a ziplock bag in your pocket to keep your souvenir pennies in so you won't lose them?
You can buy penny books for different states they have one for Texas too
@@Alacallacazam carpetbagger is always talking about losing the smashed souvenir pennies that he collects before he can get them home I don't know how a Penny book is going to help him do that
Jacob Carpetbagger for President.
So does the Alamo have a basement ;) Happy travels
The Alamo's in rough shape compared to how it looked in the 80s. Do they not do containment or paint it anymore?
I think i have the answer for the bear fight in the Alamo i am unsure if it is historical at all but growing up with Fess Parker playing both Daniel Boone and Davey Crocket and a big western fan as a child i was most moved by seeing i believe Davey Crocket's gun was a big fan of his and i use to know the song by heart - you being a bit younger the tv series and somg might not be a memory for you but part of the Crocket legend in the song reveals your answer perhaps - The Ballad of Davey Crockett is fun and maybe educational lol - the first verse is - Born on a mountain top in Tennessee
Greenest state in the land of the free
Raised in the woods, so he knew ev'ry tree
Kilt him a bar when he was only three
Davy, Davy Crockett, king of the wild frontier - you should check out the rest of it look up the audio version
I hope you could go to old western tombstone theme park
Are you going to the Smoky Mountain Bigfoot Convention in a couple weeks?
That was not heath ledger as joker it was Joaquin Phoenix
Did you go down to the river walk and eat some good Mexican food?
1:01 ✌The guy in black t-shirt , 28:26 Selena were killed by her manager who were a women . She have a beautiful gravestone ( seen it by youtube) . 29:30 What have happend to his (John`s) arm? 30:50 Background are so cool. 39:10 I see 1 face "outside " from the window, 39:52 Bates and his mother
Shadowbanning has legal repercussions
I love your Ripley’s vids sooo much
sad for attractions to go but history is more important, especially as many of the younger generations are growing progressively apathetic towards said history, people need more museums and so forth to try and combat this, if people don't care for their history you get the horrors that are destroying statues etc etc.. we'll always have oddities to find and explore but we may not have historical stuff unless it is shared and valued.
Wish I knew you we're here! I would love to have like to meet you 😎
Perhaps the attractions have simply relocated
Jacob I love you but that wasn't Heath Ledger lol that was Joaquin Phoenix. We all make mistakes 😂❤
Carpetbagger that was not Heath ledger that was Joaquin Phoenix
That's Joaquin Phoenix as Joker, not Heath Ledger.
Also, those are some shady wax figures haha.
