@@AlandaParker You should look up the live version of the actors singing the songs.. So fun to watch. They show the movie behind them while they sing live..
Can we all give love to the actual director of this movie "Henry Selick". He always gets lost when people talk about Nightmare before Christmas. Yes it was Tim Burtons short story and some characters, but the direction was actually Henry Selick 🎃🎃🎃
You would absolutely LOVE Edward Scissorhands! It's a bittersweet and beautiful story that is also very aware of itself. That makes for a really cool combination in my opinion. I think it's peak Tim Burton!
One of my favorite movies. I was 7 when it released in '93. I do want to clarify something though. This was actually NOT Disney. It was Touchstone pictures, Touchstone pictures was bought by Disney a few years later, and with it they got the rights to Nightmare Before Christmas. This movie was made before the buy out. It was also made by the same studio that did James and the Giant Peach. The music is by Danny Elfman who does most of Tim Burton's music as well as the music for James and the Giant Peach.
Touchstone was always Disney; it was a separate distribution company they created to put out more mature movies, like _Pulp Fiction_ This got put out as a Touchstone movie because Disney was nervous about this weird thing, and were quite surprised when it turned into a huge marketing machine.
The Nightmare before Christmas is a classic 🥰 I watched it a lot as a kid, the animation was truly something special, especially when you learn that it was all done with hand-made stop-motion. One fun fact though to keep in mind the with the movie is that Tim Burton actually didn't make the film, he mainly came up with the concept for it as it was based on one of his poems he wrote and his drawings of Jack Skellington & Zero and eventually went on to draw the rest of the cast for the movie in pencil sketches while giving short bios of the characters. He entrusted everything else (the character figures and the stop motion animation process) to Henry Selick who was the overall director of the film. It's funny you mentioned James and the Giant Peach and Coraline because those are films that Henry Selick directed as well, The Nightmare Before Christmas was his big break that got him into the industry. The main reason why they put Tim Burton's name on the project was because at the time Disney thought his name would attract more attention since he already had some notoriety thanks to his films like Edward Scissorhands and Beetlejuice. But yeah it was super fun to see your reaction to the film, your commentary is very lively. If I could recommend a future Tim Burton, definitely check out Corpse Bride, that's personally one of my most favorites but biases aside, it has a really nice story and a nice continuation of beautiful stop motion ☺
Oh my god 🙂 its a Christmas miracle . Canr believe you managed to fit this one in . Thank you for brightening up a pretty miserable Xmas eve for me Hope you have a great Christmas and I can't wait for whatever you've got for us in the new year Xx sending good vibes and festive cheer to you gurl 😘
🥰🥰🥰 I hate that your Christmas Eve is miserable but I sure as hell understand it. Happy to toss a lil happy your way!!! And thank you so much, Love! Hoping your new year is a lot brighter 💛
This movie always warms my heart so, so much. It was the movie that (weirdly) my grandma and I bonded over when I was a little boy. She and I would watch it, multiple times a week, my entire childhood when she was raising me. I'm missing her this year, but this is like a little connection with her. Happy holidays!!
So, like a lot of animated movie characters, Jack's singing and talking voices are different guys. Originally, Danny Elfman had intended to play Jack in the dialogue sections as well as the songs, but he didn't deliver a satisfactory performance so Chris Sarandon ( _Fright Night_ , _The Princess Bride_ ) was called in to do all of Jack's dialogue. In the video game sequel to this movie, Sarandon does both Jack's dialog and singing. And I'm not surprised this gave you _James and the Giant Peach_ vibes; same guy directed both movies, Henry Selick. (If you go back and watch the latter movie, Jack has a cameo as a pirate skeleton)
I really did like the scene at the end where Santa comes back to bring snow to halloween town just the sight if the two holidays/their icons saluting each other was a great touch.
I love this movie, but I think my favorite Tim Burton directed movies are Edwar Scissorhands (which you mentioned was on your list) and Big Fish. Both are such beautiful stories and were shot amazingly. If you haven't seen Big Fish I would highly recommend you add that to the list.
I've just come across your vids this week but I am OB.SESSED! Your commentary is prob the best out of any reactor on RUclips, huge fan of your Scream vids especially
just have to comment about how much I looove that shirt!! the whole outfit is everything, beautiful as always PS it's all claymation which makes it even more badass
The Nightmare Before Christmas is my favorite movie of all time. I'm so glad you watched and enjoyed it! 🎃🎄 I recommend you watch Frankenweenie! It's another stop-motion animation film so I'd also recommend watching behind the scenes on how they film them. It's amazing to watch and you have such a huge appreciation of the work that goes into making them! I always look forward to new videos from you! Happy Holidays!
I remember being being 8 yrs old when this came out but watching this a year later when my neighbor lending our fam the VHS .. we loved everything about it… Great review girly Hope you had a great Holiday 🏳️🌈❤️
I really love your videos ! If you want other Tim Burton movies I recommend Sleepy Hollow and Dark Shadows (of course Edward Scissorhands but you mentioned it) can’t wait til your next reaction, merry Christmas queen !
BEST reactor of all time continues to deliver! Your commentary is so perfect, I just love your mind and how you think, you’re so quick and witty! Love love love you! Have a happy holiday, a merry Christmas and a blessed Kwanzaa Alanda!
I remember watching this movie as a kid and many of my friends were afraid of it 🤣 I never understood why, it’s so jolly and high spirited. And you can watch both on Halloween and Christmas. Win win situation. Happy Christmas everyone 🎄🎉🥂
It's a joy to watch someone watch this for the first time and still enjoy it. It's timeless! I'm such a sucker for stop motion pics, this and James and the Giant Peach included. For the longest time, I had a crush on Jack; who doesn't love an energetic Bone Daddy? LOL Fun fact, the director, Henry Selick, is doing another one for Netflix in 2022 starring and written by Key & Peele! It's called Wendell and Wild
Glad you seen it. Its a shame when folks dont see the classics during their own childhood to the full appreciation of such works that require those youthful qualities and inclination toward wonder which make for the full enjoyment of such works. But again, glad you have seen it finally.
Alanda, your facial expression at 6:57 is to die for. I asked Jack Skeleton and he agrees you can visit Christmas Halloween town any time you wish. You were so excited to discover this twisted version of the Christmas cheer. Your reaction was simply flawless.
I am so glad you finally watched The Nightmare before Christmas. It has been my favorite movie since I first watched it. It came out when I was 11 but I was probably 12 when I saw it. We didn't go to the theater often. That was a rare treat. My Dad took my Brother and I to Walmart and we bought The Nightmare before Christmas on VHS. We wore that tape out. Lol. It never scared me or my Brother who was 3 years younger than me. We both have a strange sense of humor. So this movie was awesome to us. Still my favorite and every now and then I will paint a Nightmare before Christmas scene for my Brother Zach. Thanks for watching it and I am so happy you enjoyed it.
Hi Alanda Parker. First of all, absolutely loved the jewelry...flawless! I'm glad you enjoyed Nightmare Before Christmas. You cracked me up when you advised the character to get moisturizer for her hair. Tim Burton also did the the first serious (semi serious) film treatment of Batman in 1989. Hope you review it soon. Merry (belated) Christmas and Happy New Year!
Little fun trivia. Tim Burton worked for Disney as an animator (for instance on Fox and the hound. He tried to make this movie during those years but Disney wasn't having it (back then). After he left Disney and made in his own movies and after the smash hit of Batman, Disney came crawling and asked him to make it then. But by then he was too busy making Batman Returns, so he asked Henry Selick to make it in his stead. (The same Henry Selick that made James and the giant peach and Coraline.) Disney still found this movie too dark for their wholesome image so at first, they released it under Touchstone Pictures. I would really recommend Edward Scissorhands and Sleepy Hollow as well. Happy Holidays and a happy new year from Sweden.

This is one of my top five favorite Disney movies. And it can be a little triggering for some kids. My son was an emotional wreck when they kidnapped Santa. I felt so bad, I had to ensure him it was going to turn out o.k.
I would highly recommend the two Burton Batman movies - 'Batman' is still great; 'Batman Returns' is one of my absolute favorite films. They're not, perhaps, for everyone (though they certainly were popular enough back in the day), but they are classics, regardless, and there's an awful lot of current movies that would simply never have been made if it hadn't been for their influence. (Also, Danny Elfman - who scored most Tim Burton-related projects - scored both, and if you listen closely to the 'Batman Returns' score, you'll hear hints of a few of 'Nightmare's songs. It's well-worth listening to, anyway, 'cause it is GORGEOUS.)
Patchwork Princess😆 Asking if Sally sewed her knees wrong lolz omg all my life, I always thought Sally's legs looked so weird when she was walking up those steps This movie is timeless. It could come out today and still be a hit
My husband and I used that last verse between Molly and Jack about being meant to be on our wedding announcements. We love this movie so much--it's such a surprisingly affecting love story.

You know what I appreciate the most from you, is not necessarily the reactions in general, but that your responses such a great vocabulary. You got such a large education of words that we don't use regularly, and words that I've been used in a long time, and it's consistent and every video. The I understand that it's just who you are as a person, but it's so wonderful to hear and listen to. 👍 have you ever considered doing an audiobook?!
Merry Christmas and happy holidays to you. One of my favorites. Had my Jack Christmas PJ's on all day. Merry Christmas and happy holidays to everyone stay safe.
Speaking of Coraline and James & The Giant Peach, this movie was directed by the same guy who made those movies, Henry Sellick. Though this movie is more of a Tim Burton-movie because he created, written and produced this movie. He was supposed to direct this one also, but he couldn't because of busy schedule.
Lotta people clarifying that Burton had nothing to do with Coraline: let me give you some background. When it came out back in 2009, Neil Gaiman wasn't as big a name as he is now. He was know in the comics community for Sandman and in the fantasy community for his novels, but he wasn't really mainstream, so the studio didn't have confidence in using his name to market it. What they did know was that it was stop--motion, directed by Henry Selick, and was kiddie-creepy. So they HEAVILY marketed it as, "From the director of The Nightmare Before Christmas'. However since Nightmare was heavily marketed with Tim Burton's name, most people assume he directed it. That, combined with the similar tone is why people associate Burton with Coraline.
I recommend a Tim Burton movie called Ed Wood. The story is about a not so great movie director, Ed Wood, and his efforts to make, in the end, terrible movies. Drama/Comedy. It stars Johnny Depp, Sarah Jessica Parker, Martin Landau and Bill Murray. I also recommend another Tim Burton movie called Pee-wee's Big Adventure. The story is about Pee-wee Herman (Paul Ruebens) traveling across the US in search of his stolen bicycle that he cherishes. Comedy/Family. Thanks for the upload. Nightmare is one of my favorite movies. I saw it as a kid when it came out and loved it. I've always liked dark stuff and with Danny Elfman doing the music and singing as Jack it was a hit for me and my family. Glad you enjoyed it. Merry Christmas!
The kids were terrified of the HallowChristmas gifts from Jack Skellington, but years later when it costs $70.00 ON AMAZON they're gonna wish they kept it!
Alanda your reaction videos always make me smile. You singing 'Ring the Alarm' sent me when the alarm started going off in HalloweenTown!! Love your videos!! Keep up the great work :)
This is a Danny Elfman movie in my opinion...I adore the stop motion art for sure but the music is everything in this classic ❤ fantastic reaction as always..
i’ve never seen this movie either, i always love your reactions, happy holidays & omg you should definitely watch edward scissorhands, a visual masterpiece for sure!!
I was 10 when this movie came out 😅 I even remember the trailer on tv , it showed the boy opening the gift with the head 😂😂 now I’m grown with two girls of my own who love the movie 💓 when we went to Disney in 2019 we all met Jack and sally 💗 we are hoping to visit Disney world again next year and we wanna meet them again , my youngest even wants to be zero for Halloween and dress up for the Disney event , she said I have to dress as Jack since zero is his dog 😂😂 I don’t mind since I adore Jack , I own so much nightmare before Christmas stuff 😆 When I’m told to put my stuff away after Halloween im like fine and then bring out all the Christmas theme Jack .. so I still win 😂😂
Santa must’ve gotten my list, cuz all I wanted for Christmas was Alanda THEE Parker 💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻

Tim Burton actually repeatedly confirmed that he was not involved with Coraline. Which explains how horrifying it was.

I was supposed to be Shock in a school play. It never ended up happening, but we had a lot of fun rehearsing for those few weeks. Lol
Alanda your reaction videos always make me smile. You singing 'Ring the Alarm' sent me when the alarm started going off in HalloweenTown!! Love your videos!! Keep up the great work :)

🥰🥰🥰
I was 10 when this movie came out 😅 I even remember the trailer on tv , it showed the boy opening the gift with the head 😂😂 now I’m grown with two girls of my own who love the movie 💓 when we went to Disney in 2019 we all met Jack and sally 💗 we are hoping to visit Disney world again next year and we wanna meet them again , my youngest even wants to be zero for Halloween and dress up for the Disney event , she said I have to dress as Jack since zero is his dog 😂😂 I don’t mind since I adore Jack , I own so much nightmare before Christmas stuff 😆
When I’m told to put my stuff away after Halloween im like fine and then bring out all the Christmas theme Jack .. so I still win 😂😂
Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and Happy New Year, Alanda!
You came a long way Queen. Going outside of your comfort zone.
