Hi sir. I found your video exciting. Seen sony antique products repairing nicely. I want your little help. I've sony hifi music system model Sony LBT - zux10d. Its been working nicely but recently whenever i start the unit it display shows Please Wait. Dvd tray open & close but disk doesn't play. Its display show Only Please Wait. When it shows Please Wait sound doesn't come even in Fm, not even in tape and audio in. Please suggest what is the problem in it. Thanks alot
Just guessing but does it only show please wait when you select CD or can you listen to FM, turn it off, then turn it on and get message? If CD triggers it I would say check the limit switches etc. It might be trying to home the tray or laser or something but can't tell when it's ready. If any source does it maybe it's waiting to see if the speaker output is ok. Firstly check the board for bad solder joints around high temp areas like power supply and amplifier. Unplug and reinsert flex cables to make sure connections are good. Then make sure voltage rails are complete and clean.
Hi there I have a Sony mhc gnz8d 5.1 the sound of front and left channels are dead rest surround and centre channels are working fine. What could be wrong with the player please need your help.
Hello. I guess you've tried one of the other speakers in that connector to make sure those speakers aren't dead. If they're ok you'll need to start tracing with a scope. Find the amp IC and make sure it has signal on input. If yes then amp IC likely dead, check datasheet for any mute pins and make sure they aren't active first and also that the IC has power. If no input signal you'll need to trace it back further and find why. I haven't seen this problem on this unit so I can't tell you exact cause.
Jonny Fix I don’t have a remote for my player any remote that may be a universal remote. My problem with the front channel is not fixed and I m listening the Sony with the surround channel I don’t know how to fix it
i have the same music player, and it has the same trouble, only i can get it to cd mode, after you press on, i always quickly turn on the cd player, and very quickly i have to open the disc tray and insert the cd and then do eject to get they disc tray inside, if i don't do that the installation shuts itself off, if i do manage to do that rather quickly (just a couple of seconds time) then there is no problem.... really weird....
Hi Dear, recently I happened to see your video; Its very nice. I have this music system unfortunately its not working since one year, could please help me❓
The service manual is easy to find on google. First try a cold reset by pressing STOP, PLAY MODE/TUNING/MODE AND DISC1 buttons at same time. Display will show 'cold reset'. If that doesn't work start troubleshooting via schematic. There is a relay between the amp and the speakers. Is this relay clicking on when you turn it on? If not then the unit is in protection mode. Check there is no DC on the output of IC301, if yes then chip is likely bad. If relay is clicking on you need to use a scope to check for input signal to IC301. If it's missing make sure it isn't in mute mode by checking Q373, Q375 on pg67. If not in mute you need to keep following back to the source. It uses a DAC which could also be faulty. Good luck.
when i plug in sony music system it gets its power on but when i press the power button to play it, it goes off and the power button start blinking. What maybe the probable troubleshooting
I would start by monitoring the power rails to make sure they aren't dropping off which they may be doing as a result of extra load from the mechanism when you press play. Also, google search your model number and blinking power light, it might give you some direction.
i have a sony GR7 stereo system and it makes this buzzing when you turn the volume on from 1 to the max it goes once you turn volume off or disconnect the speakers i tried fixing it myself first i thorght it was the transformer because i have two of the same stereo system i just swaped them around it wasn't that so i tryed swaping the amplifier but it wasn't that either would you know what the problem is...... please reply
So it buzzes only when turning the volume control? A quick google search found service manual. If this is the case I would look at IC201. Volume is managed digitally so any noise induced will likely be digital. If power supply to chip is clean and accurate then I might suspect that but be good to use a scope to probe around and check for sure. Read the datasheet on it and see if there's special mention of component values (like caps) required to minimise noise. Maybe caps or something related to this chip are failing. Good luck!
Jonny Fix thankyou for your reply but me being me i just couldn't wait and it was annoying me so much so i just swaped the whole motherboard around because i knew it was something on that.... anyway i fixed the buzzing but turns out that the sony gr7 i thorght i had was a gr8 so once i switched the boards around i noticed i couldn't use some of the (dj mix) features but that's alright there not too important in total just 5 buttions on my sony gr8 that don't do anything but all functions still work.
do you think it will be fine me swaping the circuitbored from gr7 to gr8? will there be any future problems? such as overloading or overheating of any chips or damage to any parts?
SkidMarkz I'm a little surprised it worked at all. No idea without looking over schematic of other and comparing but if front controls are all that changed it'll probably be fine. You got lucky lol!
Sorry I don't have this machine anymore but study it for a bit and see how it goes together and when you remove pieces lay them out in a methodical order to help reassembly. If you have a camera take photos as you go for reference or even video the whole process for reference.
Hello, ive bought a sony rx 90 hifi and after a few minutes of play it started to make this weird behavour! Whats wrong with it? Why cant it read the cd? Hope you can tell me how i could fix this little beauty. Also is it normal, that the little fan/Cooler on the backside dosnt spin? Or does it spin from time to time? I would be very thankfull! Her is what it makes: ruclips.net/video/r2RnpR2Nip8/видео.html Do you have any suggestion or recomanedations? Thanks!
I believe there is a rotating switch (or a few micro switches) in the mechanism that can cause erratic behaviour if it is dirty/bad contacts. Basically the processor doesn't know what position the mech is in. If it's only having trouble reading CDs try cleaning the laser lens (no harsh solvents). The fan might only come on at higher volume or when a certain temperature is reached.
hi, the fan came on on louder volume! So at least it works. Ive swiped the lens with a earpick already. dosnt helped. How can i see this micro switches or roatitng switch? Antother question: When i plug my mp3 player into the "video/md in" rca connection via chinch cable, i only barely hear the music. There is a loud grooming sound on top of the music. When i touch the mp3 player(which body is made of metal) the grooming gets louder. Whats even more strange that if i touch the housing of the sony hifi, the grooming get quiter. Is there some grounding problem in this piece? Normaly i should be able to plug any source into this "video/md in" port, right? This is so fu..up! I boght this beauty and now i cant use anything exept the tuner. Would be great if you could help me out.
The switches would give problems like tray won't stop rotating or random eject etc. Not reading disc, if lens is clean laser is probably dead. Switches are under cd tray. If MP3 player is battery operated maybe the cable is bad, try it on another amp. If mains powered it might be some weird ground issue. If you're holding the player while you touch the unit and noise gets quieter then my guess is bad cable.
hello, my guees is the laser too! The mp3 player ist battery powered and works flawelessly on another amp. So cble and mp3 should be fine. Found this video! Same behavoir like mine, except that on mine it dosnt helt if i spind the disc with my fingers. Mine dosnt read it like his. He says in the comments below, that the spindle motor war fault. ruclips.net/video/K9XtW-wmE9M/видео.html Another question: Can you guys tell me how to connect a chinch port to the signal of the cd player? Because the MD/VIDEO IN is useless with this grooming. I dont need the disc segment if i can make an AUX IN
At 5:10 you can see a white flex on the right side going up to the top. This probably carries power and signals between the CD deck. If you're lucky they labelled the board by the connector and you'll see which pins left/right. If unlucky and all the decoding is done on the main board you'll need to look around for where it becomes analogue and connect to there. Or, find out which chip handles source selection and connect to that.
It's rare to find a channel like this
I have checked power connector but the voltages are not ok .any diagnostics for power and amp board ?plz help

Which ic used for sound system
Not shown in this video but you can kind of see it at 4:40 mounted to the heat sink behind the transformer. I don't know what part number.
Sony hcd v717 not is powar On plz solve the problem.
my grandma have Sony LBT LX30 it dose do the same too
when my aiwa stereo made the same noise it didnt shut off its probably the tape circuit board
I also have sony grx8 1987 model I connect a LG subwoofer with his original I don't have any problem
upload a video how to repair Sony vx777music system please with fully detail
