I can't take credit for the animation themselves haha, Djinn was kind enough to provide them. From there I had to do all the tuning for effects, hitboxes etc
This is fascinating. I wonder if one day down the line, we can port malenia's boss fight moveset and AI onto a custom Tomoe model, and finally answer the question if malenia was a re-used DLC asset for sekiro.

Omg the lightning reflection was amazing, i wonder if you could port the animation into the boss's movesets. I want to parry the waterfowl dance so much 😂.
Well now that this is possible, I thought you'd be having the Waterfowl for Geni instead since the consecutive Floating Passage sucks with no pause in the middle, I bet it'd be better for the lore too since Geni IS The Way of Tomoe

Hey Sir, this is an extreme long shot, but I'm desperate and asking everywhere all over RUclips, Nexus, GameBanana, private modding Discords for Sekiro and no one says anything. I need help with something that should be extremely simple in theory but I just lack the knowledge to do so even though I desperately tried from 0 knowledge and scratch and got pretty far. Basically the vulgarly short version, will provide more info if I get a reply, but I found a mod that has effects I want but unwanted new animations. I just want to add back the vanilla animations on the new effects making the effects cosmetic only. I have info on specifics but I'll leave it at this for now so I don't make a wall of text again before even knowing if I get a response. 😅 Nice mod though! :3
You’ll need DSANIM Studio to open the character files for both the modded player and vanilla player file. Effects and animations all live in that chr0000 file so you’d need to find the animation that has the effect you want through DSANIM studio, then copy it to the vanilla chr0000 file. You’d also need the common sfx file since I assume the mod uses custom sfx.

(Got it to run) I'm completely and absolutely new to modding at all, as in making my own and changing existing ones, I've installed mods before but not made ones and edited ones deeply, so I'm basically a modding toddler, sorry. 😅 I downloaded Yabber about a month ago and figured out a thing or two. I opened up the chr0000.dcx in question and started fiddling with the .tae files inside and fixed a bunch of stuff by replacing them with vanilla ones making unwanted animation changes go back to vanilla, the issue is I found which .tae causes ANOTHER animation I want to delete, but when replaced with vanilla files that one also deletes the effects with it that I DO in fact want... so they are tied somehow in a50.tae. I'm assuming again that the answer lies in opening the files in question in DSANIM to replace the animations while keeping the effects separately, unless the modder that made the mod tied the effects to the very animations somehow, then I'm screwed as I'd have to replace them with vanilla ones and manually add the effects back which is above my ability. I asked the modder in question for help as well, but they are unreachable and people asked for the effects without the animation changes for years to no avail. I would ask people for help but the modder has said permission is needed to change stuff, which is hard to get since they are gone, so I can't send stuff publicly to be edited for me as I'm strictly doing this for private use to respect the modders wishes for no uploads of edited versions of their work, otherwise I would have asked for public help long ago, but now I gotta figure this stuff out myself and I know Jack. 😭 Anyway, so you're saying I could copy-paste animation "blocks" from file to file in DSANIM if I get it running? If yes, then I'll try if I can get the thing to run. As for the sfx file, that one I replaced with one from another mod as that one needed its own to run properly. I'll mess around to see what I can do, but I believe I'm stuck here unfortunately. 😔 But I'll see if I can get SOMEWHERE before giving up, it's just that this has now been a multi month f fest of getting stuck at every turn and giving up this close to the end goal hurts, but I don't think I can do this and sending it around would be against the rules so I'm kinda done in regards to options.

It took me a LOT of dedication but I now fully learned how to mod Sekiro myself from scratch and I remade the mod in question the way I wanted it to be. You we're one of TWO people in the end that actually answered and lead me down the right path that made me discover what I needed, so thank you sincerely, Sir. I would upload the file since there are people like me that wanted this exact mod I made for 5 years with no answer, but since the mod is technically not mine even though I made it from scratch, I cannot upload it as it's still a variant on a mod you're not allowed to edit so I can't and it hurts but at least I have it now. Maybe I'll make a RUclips tutorial on how to make it for others as that SHOULD be ok but I'll see what I'll do. Anyway, thanks for everything, truly, take care man, what a journey... Never thought I'd call myself a modder, but it randomly happened. 🤷♂️😎🤣
