On the south side of the city the predominantly Mexican Nations have much less Black and white members, but there are a few.

I've seen white dude's run with black's in the penitentiary, due to them more than likely being connected from the streets, or a relative of a female, so it's not uncommon.
It's just these days, compared to the 90's, 80's and further back where everything was still kinda segregated, is different.
Tensions we're high back then, nowadays you'll find a lot of guys with kid's, from somebody of a different race, so it's not the same.
My wife of 20 years is Latina, and I just so happened to get locked up with her best friend's nephew, who I knew from the streets.
Both he and I being solid respected guy's, did our time around each other, no problems.
I could only imagine it being way different in the 80's, we probably would've had to pick sides, or be subject to prison politics.
