He just adding turbo which is USELESS since installing turbo means you will make even more issue you will face than before. If he not installing it, I am very sure that he can beat under 1:40 very easy. His track time was 4 second slower than 1st one due oil leak means your engine is in danger while 1st one he dont have radiator which means he cant go all out due his car is too hot for going all-out. Stop doing useless mods, he just literally ruined his own project car that he builds for a year and now he just regret it for installing turbo
Thank you for doing this. Sounds like unless you get lucky there’s no point in adding a turbo to your miata unless the engine is just completely rebuilt to be bulletproof and handle the extra strain
I absolutely love the money pit series, and it’s cool to see what different upgrades work and watch the car improve. But I think at this point it’s starting to show that sometimes starting with a better platform is worth the wait instead of throwing buckets of parts at something cheaper. At this point money pit costs as much if not more than a C5 Z06, and that’s scary
Love the series, bit silly going out on track knowing you are leaking oil! Dangerous not only for your car, (fire) but others driving on the oil splattered track after you! Keep up the mint content . Cheers
I've been on fire in the past with this exact issue on an MG Maestro Turbo. Many years ago now, but when I popped the bonnet it let the oxygen into the fire. I lost my eyebrows, eyelashes, and most of my hair. Not to mention my t-shirt was melted to my neck and my lips were so burnt they stuck together. The fire brigade wrapped my face in cling film with a straw to breath through. Thankfully I heal like Wolverine so no lasting scarring other than a bit on my neck when I get a sun tan. Taught me a valuable lesson of not dicking about when seeing/smelling smoke.
Goal of shaving about 14 seconds off the previous lap. Then you realize that is about a light year of a gap on any track. But you guys are having a blast doing it!
i tought the same and went back to the old video too check and last time his fastest lap was in fact a 1.56 ot a 1.46. That lap he couldnt go all in tho so the 6 second improvement over that lap with 120 more hp is still disappointing ngl
@@theemeralddj1 they're straight 6s, so long, and they're both cast iron and very overbuilt, so heavy. They're probably longer and heavier than an LS3 despite having 2 fewer cylinders.
So your last video at Willow Springs you had $9500 worth of mods (no turbo?) And got 1:56 as your fastest time (and your gauges failed!). This time almost double the mods and horsepower, 1:50. That's about 5.2% faster. I don't know if I'd say it's worth it? 😂 I'm curious too as to why you couldn't get into the 1:40s. As always, awesome video!
The one thing that was overlooked... the PCV system. Getting all that crankcase pressure out. Not to mention, high milage engine, older gaskets, no PCV solution, oil weeping engine... ;)
Also, just to add, I like that things don't always go to plan. It's life. And Zack is about the most charismatic person I think I've ever watched on RUclips.
Ye great, just shove some oil down on the track because you covered the breather instead of adding the right 323 parts to it 🤷♂️🤦♂️. If that was our local open day it'd have been black flagged for that smoke and oil coming off.
Does that mean more expensive means more better? Zack: No, do thing in right way, then that is more better. Fu#ing love that you turbo that miata, even when the Z's got broken
I finally decided to become a paid member 2day! It's been a long time coming and honestly I should have made the commitment a looong time ago. I'm probably up there age wise when compared to other members (I'm 42 and will be 43 tomorrow). The one thing that I absolutely love about this channel is that age really doesn't matter here... Donut is geared towards gear heads and when your a gear heads it doesn't matter if your 16 or 60... We all feel the NEED 4 SPEED! When I hit my early 30's I realized that all cars no matter the make or model are awesome. Each has their ups and downs and none are "perfect". When I came to that conclusion it opened up a whole world of possibilities as I was no longer stuck on one or 2 manufactures. When I once had a few options to chose from I now had hundreds! It wasn't until I hit 40 though that I could reap the benefits. Money doesn't grow on trees and after many years of hard work and dedication I could finally afford to really build something different and unique! So what did I chose for my "blank canvas". I wanted something that broke the rules of cool. Where I live in Louisville, KY (yup, I'm a Kentucky Cobra) Honda Civics, Mustangs and Focus STs, and a lot of Zs seem to be the latest thing. Really it depends on what end of town your in. Rollin around the east end and you will see a lot of WRXs and 5 series Beamers. Knowing this I decided to build a (drum roll please)... A 2010 MINI Cooper Clubman S! In The Ville the only people you see driving MINIS are soccer moms, hipsters and college girls. The only people you see driving MINI Clubmen are... Hardly no one. Seriously even since I bought mine 2 years ago I have rarely seen anyone driving one. In all... Maybe 7! When it comes to actually built MINIS I have only seen 1. The 1 that I have seen was probably only rockin an exhaust and an intake. So yea... I used to be the guy that HATED MINIs and now I was planning to spend a lot of money on building one. Wow, I have almost typed a novel so I will cut this short. Fast forward to now. If I had known just how difficult it is to build a MINI I would have gone with another car, but once I started I was committed. MINIs are a confused and scared little cars. They never know if they are supposed to be doing what they are doing and when they are doing it they get scared! MINIs seem to have sensors for sensors that are for yet even more sensors and getting a half way decently modded MINI to go fast without setting them off is a complete pain in the exhaust pipe. Right now I am at the point where I have reached the point that the only thing left to do are internals. I've got the bigger turbo and everything needed to make it do its thing. Every bolt-on you can think of all the way down to the replacing the flywheel with a bad ass light weight flywheel. I've gone from ho-hum to holy S%#T. It's not the fastest car in Louisville by far, but I think it most definitely is the fastest MINI. Right now I am in the process deciding if I should yank the AC. Before you think I am nuts... I barely drive her. She is not my daily. It seems that when I do use the AC the car gets hot when I am sitting at a light for no more than a few min. I have not always been able to afford the finer things and I have owned many of cars that didn't have working AC so I am used to it. Right now I think the AC is a hindrance. Although I do well, working on modifying internals are expensive. Its the most expensive process in build a car (IMO). So... I am saving money for the operation and yanking an AC is something I can do for cheap right now while keeping my hobby going (along with other weight reduction). Well I am gonna stop right there. Let me end in saying that absolutely love this channel and everybody who makes it tick! Thank you for giving me something to look forward to during these very bleak and weird times. Oh... Another reason I decided MINI is because I have literally owned 32 cars before it. I wanted to build something that I have never owned and something that you do not see a lot of. I have owned everything from an '82 o24 Dodge Omni to an '84 Porshe 944 and everything in-between, but never a MINI. I know I am still gonna catch hell for it though.
Only way to make if fast, could have LS swapped it in one episode, laid down a 1:30, slapped a Hong Kong hurricane on it in the second and laid down a 1:15
This is what happens when you have no suspension mods on stock Miata. Put on some decent coilovers, sway bar, bushings, etc. I mean cmon, a spec Miata with 140whp can do 1:35 easily here
have you been around? m3s only been skyrocketing in price... they arent cheap, i wouldnt pay that much for such an old car anymore, espicially one that isn't even fast for todays standards... they used to be great cars to drift or build etc but now they are just overpriced for what they are, and all their parts are skyrocketing as well etc... deff not the move for a fun car unless you are trying to hold one to keep and not beat on it etc.
@Dick weed maybe $17500 worth? Look, sure you could do all that shit but, that doesn't change the point, you're only getting one M3 in that price range.

Taking extra laps when you know you’re blowing oil is unconscionable, especially on a track used by motorcycles. You could see it on your warmup laps.
I was thinking the same thing...any of that oil gets on the track, and it willl...bad for everyone’s day.
if there was an issue the track officials would have done something, relax
@@Mister_Mag00 well, yeah, after some biker crashed after riding over it, possibly. a few drips of oil on the track / tire are enough to go down on a bike. not a laughing matter.
It'd not like gushing oil lol it's burning away 95% of the oil that's coming out, it's not puddling on the track it's all in then engine bay and in the air

Eh it's not loss of reliability, it's about as unreliable as before but in a different way :)

Please do "Is driving school worth it" ! Take some of the donut team and see how much their lap-times improve with some professional instruction
Driving school is honestly just for the absolutely clueless. You don't become a pro in a weekend. If you want to get fast, get into karting. All of the fastest track drivers I know are avid karters.
Here's what I love about Donut. One of the #1 car channels, posts honest win/fail videos. Interactive with fans. Comes back each week without giving up.
The real "worth it"s are the Miatas we made along the way!
It's not, since they added so much shit that the car clearly is less reliable and deduced its power/weight ratio.
@@hartonosutrisno5452 he ran 1:56 w/o turbo, not 1:46. He is 6 seconds faster
@@RazorHK at 1:53 he clearly states that he ran a 1:46 and was hoping to bring it down to 1:40.
Thank you for doing this. Sounds like unless you get lucky there’s no point in adding a turbo to your miata unless the engine is just completely rebuilt to be bulletproof and handle the extra strain
Yeah really think FI goes against the bulletproof simplicity of the Miata
"I'm Zach and this is turbo pit" 🤣🤣 0:21
I absolutely love the money pit series, and it’s cool to see what different upgrades work and watch the car improve. But I think at this point it’s starting to show that sometimes starting with a better platform is worth the wait instead of throwing buckets of parts at something cheaper. At this point money pit costs as much if not more than a C5 Z06, and that’s scary
I mean, its literally called money pit, in that case hes rly doing everything right
"Whooooo yeah baby, that's what I've been waiting for that's what it's all about"
Ah yes, a man of culture.

Please don’t ever end this series sooooooo good maybe try it on other platforms but stupid hype it’s on the miata !!
Love the series, bit silly going out on track knowing you are leaking oil! Dangerous not only for your car, (fire) but others driving on the oil splattered track after you! Keep up the mint content . Cheers
oh yes because there's NO safety precautions at all right?
Who cares
Tracks usually care a lot about that. The fines for spilling oil are almost more than the Miata is now worth 🤣@@obeseperson

But you guys are having a blast doing it!
imagine doubling your horsepower..and going slower lmao.
i tought the same and went back to the old video too check and last time his fastest lap was in fact a 1.56 ot a 1.46. That lap he couldnt go all in tho so the 6 second improvement over that lap with 120 more hp is still disappointing ngl
lmao i thought the same thing. Im sure it will get better though
@@alexsupertramp4907 lol! That makes more sense. He gave us the wrong lap time. I said no way would his time be slow after doubling his horsepower.

So your last video at Willow Springs you had $9500 worth of mods (no turbo?) And got 1:56 as your fastest time (and your gauges failed!). This time almost double the mods and horsepower, 1:50. That's about 5.2% faster. I don't know if I'd say it's worth it? 😂
I'm curious too as to why you couldn't get into the 1:40s.

Yes i see this as an absolute win to my money, I'm just gonna stick to NA for now😅 great video I've learned a lot.

M3's are not cheap, especially in generations that are "iconic" like the e36.
have you been around? m3s only been skyrocketing in price... they arent cheap, i wouldnt pay that much for such an old car anymore, espicially one that isn't even fast for todays standards... they used to be great cars to drift or build etc but now they are just overpriced for what they are, and all their parts are skyrocketing as well etc... deff not the move for a fun car unless you are trying to hold one to keep and not beat on it etc.
