Hahaha! I always say Drug Store and my kids laugh at me same as I catch myself still saying chesterfield for sofas, it’s just what I was brought up with lol
Yes! I'm 75, we did all that treacherous stuff! But, were told to let the water run a minute so it was clean! You held the hose sideways and it splashed your face. Or, upright for the fountain effect, lol! The fine art of hose sipping! LOL!
@@kathipetersen2277 I almost forgot about playing with the outdoor hoses, we ALL drank from it on hot summer days, & yes holding it uptight to get the fountain effect- oooh, haven't thought about that in years, since I'm in my 8th decade I guess I wasn't harmed by it! Thats what I said. Like one of those little ones you get to put on back windows to keep the sun out of a child's eyes in the back seat. They are like little shades so they can be pulled down or haldway and ya can still kinda see threw them.
Love you all! I'm 86 and originally from Ohio, now in South Carolina. My grandparents were from Southern Ohio, near the West Virginia border,, and you sound just like them. Grandma was an apprentice midwife when she was 16 years old, but never became "official". She learned enough about caring for sick people, that she became a neighborhood nurse during the Spanish flu after WW1.
My dad use to make dried fried apple pies. He would air dry sliced apples then cook them until they thicken adding sugar & cinnamon. Put them in rolled out dough or rolled out biscuit dough. Fry them up. Man they were oh so good.

Jason and Brooke, I know just what you mean about a cow in heat. We have one too and she can’t be bred because she has issues with her front legs and could not handle the weight of being bred or carrying a calf. She was born here on our farm in August 2019 with her front legs and she couldn’t stand up. Her mother abandoned her in the hot August sun because she couldn’t nurse and was a predator magnet( our opinion) so I convinced my husband to take her to the barn and see if we could save her. She had a really strong will to live evidently because she didn’t need much encouragement to take her first bottle. From there we called our vet to see if there was anything we could do about her legs. We wound up taking her to our Oklahoma veterinary school, Oklahoma State University. Those vet students were so excited to get to try to get her on her feet like a normal bovine. The teaching vet warned us it could get expensive and the outcome may not be good. We told him she deserved every chance regardless. She is a $5000.00 cow (sssh, my husband thinks it was $3000.00) and she’s not even a full size cow and not worth much except to me. I love her like y’all do Mildred. I bottle raised her except for the time she was at OSU so I’m her mama. I’m sure glad her heat doesn’t last any longer than a day. She’s in a pen at night not far from our back door so we hear her loud and clear. So this was so long but that’s our girl’s story. I love y’all and praying for healing Brooke. Take care. Love, from northern Oklahoma.
what a grand idea!!! Hey @ Cog Hill Farm! And write it with your southern pronunciation. Put me down for the first three copies! It will be a best seller!!!❤
I'm originally from Detroit, they were called drug stores. My sons started correcting me when I said drugest. (My uncle was a drugest) It got changed when one of the Presidents started his "WAR ON DRUGS". I still need to be corrected. Yes , Hot water heater, still.
Hello Jason and Brooke, I am from Pennsylvania and I say drug store, beautician. Ok fry pies are made by the Amish and they make all flavors including chocolate, pumpkin, and they even put cream cheese in with certain flavors example blackberry w/ cream cheese. They even make buckeye fry pies
That was a fun trip down memory lane! I live comparing the vernacular between North, South, East and West! Not to mention generations! My Mama had a ton of old sayings she used all the time! For me it's (" my Mama used to say,") ( her birthday is February first, and I always remember her even more then.)
I called a farrier for my burro , but he said , let me show you how. The burrow only needed to be filed once in awhile because they would wear down on their own. He was very kind.
I'm in Northern California, we call those turnovers. Not Fried Pie. Hostess puts out a turnover, but you get maybe one piece of apple in each one! Still my favorites are apple or lemon which is just like lemon pie. The crust is thick and drowned in glaze. We are Apple country in our hills, and every farm has a restaurant where they make turnovers and pies (my favorite is sour cream apple pie!) They also make delicious apple doughnuts! And Carmellos, they made their own carmel made in a big copper pot! Then, they poured the carmel over marshmallows on a piece of wax paper. Soo good! Messy, but yum! When you drive through the area during season it smells wonderful with the cinnamon, apples and pine trees!
We had named "Rexall's Drug Store", "Home Town Drug Store", "Buchanan's Family Drug Store", & "Mann's Drug Store" !!! They weren't calked Pharmacies around here until the 60's!!! I still call Walgreen's, CVS, etc... Drug Stores!!!😊😊😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤❤
My Mother made chocolate fried pies. She made her own pie dough, rolled into a circle a single bit of dough, and put a pat of butter, a couple of spoonfuls of sugar, and a spoonful of cocoa. Sealed it and fried it. So good!

I just love this, I am an eight generation South Carolinian and we say alot of what yall say but what is sad is my native county is now a tourist county and you hardly hear anyone that talks like us. Our county is a coastal county and most of NY, NJ and Pennsylvania and other parts of the country have moved here. We live in the rural part of the county but not for long, they are moving out of the beach areas and coming to the country
Jason, you'd have a problem with Lume. You can can use that everywhere. I love Lume. I friend gave me one, and I've wound up ordering the bodywash and all the rest of their products.
Two questions: 1. Are you keeping the silkies in the barn to keep the breed "pure" for new chicks? 2. Have you thought of getting a herding ball for Holly? They have them for Aussies and you buy based on the dog's size.
Yeah well, I’m gonna be 85 on February 15. And I served a cup of coffee to Tom Sellecks brother, I think Robert Selleck in a law firm I worked for in Thousand Oaks, CA. SO THERE. HE WAS A very nice man too.
My husband thinks that there are way too many almond orchards because they take up so much land and water that could be used for more practical crops, instead of almond "milk"! Any comments?
That hilarious hearing you talk about the different things you say. We love hearing them 😂 We're from South Africa, spoke English, immigrated to Australia, and had to learn to speak Australian English. It was absolutely fun learning new words. 😊😊
Oh, how funny tonight's Live was! Ii've asked in comments a few times where the VW bus came from. Did Beooke make a new find with one of her online bargain searches? Looks like that's quite the project. Is it featured on one of the video posts?
I have a green metal Coleman cooler from the mid 70's. It will keep a 10 pound bag of ice for 3 days with food and drinks. If you keep it in the shade. Back then we tent camped and there was no electric in that part of the campgrounds. I also have one of the red and white PLAYMATE coolers, it hold about a 6 pack of cans.
Y'all fried pies originated in Mexico & they are actually called Empanadas!!! They are filled with flavored puddings & fruit pie fillings!!! They were originally sold at the street markets!!! Created in the late 20's!!! Yummy!!;❤❤❤❤❤
Drug store is a commonly term in Southwest Missouri from where I am. I now live in SE Kansas and we still have some locally owned Drug Stores. Growing up my parents said “picture show” but my grandparents said “the pictures,” and my generation shortened our parents’ phrase to “show.” Until my own children began to correct my speech I continued to ask them what they had seen at the show. Jason, the term “under arm deodorant”is very familiar to me even though I gave up saying it years ago. 😁
So THANKFUL YOU BROUGHT UP YOUR GRANDMOTHER'S CHOCOLATE FRIED PIES BROOK ❤ ! I THOUGHT MY GRANDMOTHER WAS THE ONLY ONE ! WONDERFUL MEMORIES, Penney C, TN
Beautiful today it’s 75° here in Southern California. Well San Diego but the next five days is gonna rain and it doesn’t happen too often out here so pretty dreary for the days to come. I hope you’re enjoying your weather now and nice days are all we need it would be wonderful if food would rain all night longand be dry and sunny in the morning
I love Dr. Pol, I had two little Yorkies and OMG! When Dr Pol’s show came on, my puppies would go insane!!! They would bark and jump and spin around specially when there were cows and my puppies had never even seen a real cow so I don’t know why they reacted like that!
You Guys Amaze me.. Just sitting and talking and You make every one Smile Be Happy :) Or just bring back some Great Old Memories.. Never thought just listen to some one going to the Drug store asking You want a Pie? could stir up so many memories.. Thanks Y'all Be Blessed
I love listening to your lives and bantering back and forth with each other! ❤️👍😅 I grew up in northern Virginia and lived there the majority of my life (I've lived in Arizona for about 20yrs now). I call CVS and Walgreens and the like, drug stores. Growing up we had Drug Fair, Dart Drug, People's Drug Store, and the like. I just consider stores like Walmart and Target to be stores with pharmacies. Oh, and I've always called it a hot water heater. I had never heard of wop biscuits, though. Although it was easy enough to figure out what they were before you even explained it. The name is very descriptive. 😁 😅
I grew up in NW Ohio and we went to the drug store. It was Davis Drugs, locally owned. (I'm older than you 😉) My granddad grew up in Kentucky, so I used some slightly different words than some of my classmates. We ate grits, turnup greens, the good stuff. Hope you start feeling better Brook. I know how hard it is when you're used to being active and can't be. (I was stuck in a wheelchair for 3 months after 1 of my spinal surgeries.) Love watching you. God Bless.
I am in Murphy, North Carolina, we still have a little town Movie theater I am 75 years old when I was about 10 I went to this theater. My youngest daughter is now 47 and the theater is still in the same building and still open in 2024.
I’ve been to the Buccee’s in Leeds once. My 2 nephews exclaimed simultaneously to me, “Aunt Wendy! I think there’s more people coming in than going out of this place!” They were so afraid of being kidnapped or losing us adults that they stayed right with us the entire time. It was so crowded. There was an entire Interstate exit just for that place. It even had their own traffic lights and there was a constant flow of traffic into the parking lot. The place is massive and their roast beef sandwiches are amazing and ginormous. I could only eat half of one at a meal. About your fried apple pies, my sister has a recipe for those. They are very good. I grew up helping my cousin make those. I remember cutting the circled dough out with saucer plates. Whop biscuits 😂. I have heard that too.
We have several stores in my area of Ohio have fry pies! They are so good if you heat them up in the microwave and add a scoop of vanilla ice cream! Where I grew up we had a drive in movie theater close by, they have torn down the big screen now. I think there is still one in the area that shows the movies in the summer! Oh my I have not heard the term “whop biscuits “ in years! You two make me laugh! 😂 😂😂😂😂😂❤❤❤
Folks that want to correct us Southerners on our pronunciation of words, just “aggervate the coosh out of me!” lol But, seriously, we do pronounce things our own way, and, that’s ok. 🤣❤️
BROOKE: You can probably find a recipe for chocolate pudding on the can of the unsweetened coco powder. And that is probably what your memaw used for her fried pies.

"Cooking with Brenda Gantt" has a video out of making homemade biscuits. She lives in Andalusia, Alabama. She has two cookbooks with a colored picture of all the recipes and many stories and pictures of family..
I love you guys.
I’m from NC and a woman I go to church with was from the mountains in NC called them wop biscuits. We always called them canned biscuits.
GIRL,YOU ARE GOING THROUGH THE CHANGE. IT MAKES YOUR EVERYTHING GO WONKY :) .
I will Second THAT!!!!
I.m with you i say the same things. Thats what my grandparents and parents used to use these sayings. I feel at hm with you.all. great memories. Thank you. Love you both.
I have to tell you, I am so glad that I watched your live, you two just made me Laugh!
You two make my day ❤️🥰. I laugh with you all throughout the whole video 😁🤣😆😊
Mom and Dad came from Tennessee. And moved to Michigan. And my Mother made fried pies all the time. Apple chocolate pies even lemon. She is the best.
Have you ever seen a CVS that’s not across the street from a Walgreens?
Jason, you'd have a problem with Lume. You can can use that everywhere. I love Lume. I friend gave me one, and I've wound up ordering the bodywash and all the rest of their products.
LOL I was going to mention Lume too I just tried it it is Great!! at 72 you need all the help you can get!!
You guys are the best! You make me laugh. 😂
Two questions:
1. Are you keeping the silkies in the barn to keep the breed "pure" for new chicks?
2. Have you thought of getting a herding ball for Holly? They have them for Aussies and you buy based on the dog's size.
lol! Holly has her "flock of one" in Lambchop!)
That’s like saying here in Alabama, there are way too many cotton fields, people already have enough clothes😊
That hilarious hearing you talk about the different things you say. We love hearing them 😂
We're from South Africa, spoke English, immigrated to Australia, and had to learn to speak Australian English.
Boy have I ever learned some things tonight under arm deodorant wapp biscuits and picture shows!!!thank you💓💓
I have a green metal Coleman cooler from the mid 70's.
Watching the #replay
Jason, thanks for all the southern terminology. I’ll be added. Them to my vocabulary.😂🤣😂
Sad... hardly anymore mom & pop drugstores.
Really enjoyed them and the owners!
Good remembering of the old days and sayings!
So THANKFUL YOU BROUGHT UP YOUR GRANDMOTHER'S CHOCOLATE FRIED PIES BROOK ❤ ! I THOUGHT MY GRANDMOTHER WAS THE ONLY ONE ! WONDERFUL MEMORIES, Penney C, TN
Hi Jason & Brooke ... The yeti cooler is great for camping when you need your ice to last longer to keep your food cold. 😊
Watching rerun. Hi you all! I sure enjoy you two! Love your videos!
My husband always called refrigerators Ice box. We are close in age and both raised in Calif.
This was such an awesome 😂😂😂 “Live”… I could pee my pants listening to the two of you!! Have a great day!
Thank you guys I have never laughed so hard in my life. I needed it today. 💕
I love Dr. Pol, I had two little Yorkies and OMG! When Dr Pol’s show came on, my puppies would go insane!!! They would bark and jump and spin around specially when there were cows and my puppies had never even seen a real cow so I don’t know why they reacted like that!
I caught your replay at 1:30 am. I’m wide awake now. I appreciate the laughter!
The filling is what makes a good fried pie. I used to help my Aunt make them. She used canned biscuits as well.
I'm north of Atlanta and didn't get above 50's yesterday, but U had my kitchen window open about 4"..............love me some fresh air
I grew up in northern Virginia and lived there the majority of my life (I've lived in Arizona for about 20yrs now).
I love your videos. Y'all keep me laughing the whole hour. God bless y'all. 🙏❤🙏❤🙏❤
I have one of them as well. Its about 30 yrs old. Its a play mate. Igloo. I always look forward to seeing your videos and podcasts and live videos.
Poor Brook, my heart goes out to you, having to deal with 2 Jasons !!!!❤😅😅😅❤❤❤
I made fried apple pies this past Saturday with dried apples. Always make them for New Years day for the family dinner.
Hi, your fried pies sounds so good, never thought about using dried apples.
Another great Saturday "LIVE" ❣️
🦋🍎
I grew up in NW Ohio and we went to the drug store. It was Davis Drugs, locally owned. (I'm older than you 😉) My granddad grew up in Kentucky, so I used some slightly different words than some of my classmates. We ate grits, turnup greens, the good stuff. Hope you start feeling better Brook. I know how hard it is when you're used to being active and can't be. (I was stuck in a wheelchair for 3 months after 1 of my spinal surgeries.) Love watching you. God Bless.
The Meadow Lark is the Oregon state bird.
I am in Murphy, North Carolina, we still have a little town Movie theater I am 75 years old when I was about 10 I went to this theater. My youngest daughter is now 47 and the theater is still in the same building and still open in 2024.
Yes Jason time goes on. There is a lot of things that has go on . Life is life. At 75 there is a lot of changes that go on.
When I lived in Troy, after bad weather we used a cooler for two or three days to keep food cold.
Maybe a bamboo blind? It has small gaps that you may be able to see through it
I’ve been to the Buccee’s in Leeds once.
You two are HILARIOUS I SO ENJOY YOUR LIVE😂😂😂
When we go camping we freeze ice in cleaned milk jugs, and it lasts for three days in the coolers.
I’m a lazy cook. I raised 5 kids, I’m now 79, I fixed myself some instant potatoes, red onions and frozen peas. Mixed together.
I thought she was a Pomeranian, but i thought she was maybe about 12 or 13 years old. Im so glad you have her and she has you.
Jason when anyone goes camping and camp for a week it is nice that the coolers stay cold for 3-4 days
Great at music festivals too,
We have several stores in my area of Ohio have fry pies! 😂 😂😂😂😂😂❤❤❤
Brooke, fried chocolate pie filling: 1 stick butter (1/2 C), 6 T unsweetened cocoa powder, 2 C sugar.
You guys just tickle me to death. I just love your videos. I am laughing so hard. Keep up the funny videos.
Folks that want to correct us Southerners on our pronunciation of words, just “aggervate the coosh out of me!” lol But, seriously, we do pronounce things our own way, and, that’s ok. 🤣❤️
Glad to see the Cog Hill page is working.
BROOKE: You can probably find a recipe for chocolate pudding on the can of the unsweetened coco powder. And that is probably what your memaw used for her fried pies.
I sure wish you would have your grandma's recipes put into a cookbook. I would buy one. ❤
