It costs currently few hundred dollars in china to make 1 and it goes around for what 1100 now? If american companies worked on iphones it would cost an estimated 1400 dollars to make one so what would the price be then for one like 2200? Same thing with clothes ect everything else. The problem with H1b abuse is not with direct employers hiring H1b workers. Meta, Google, Apple or Microsoft or any of the major tech companies aren’t undercutting anything by hiring H1b workers. These companies usually follow the laws. The loopholes are exploited by smaller consultancy companies which are primarily staffing companies masquerading as tech companies that underpay their H1b hires because they charge the end client top dollar but keep the difference by underpaying the H1b worker.
A simple reform would be to eliminate H1b visas for jobs that aren’t direct employment where the job is being done and come up with a separate solution for the consultancies and their visa abuses.

Raise the minimum wages of H1B visa to for example $200,000 in mid west and $300,000 on east and west coast. No need for cap removal, H1B application will dramatically drop. No need for automatic green card, true talents can prove their value and earn their green cards. On the other hand, Morris Chang left when he hit glass ceiling and passed over for the CEO position at Texas Instruments. If we don't truly respect foreign born talents, sooner or later we will lose them. The key is to pick the real talents and retain them.

As a lawful immigrant and a genuine minority, I understand the concerns of locals regarding the rapid demographic changes in America. The current situation in the United States is creating divisions among communities, particularly due to illegal immigration, especially from the South, and the significant influx of Indian and Chinese expatriates utilizing loopholes in the immigration system to secure jobs and settle in the country. This trend is leaving many locals feeling alienated and exploited, as they perceive their openness to welcoming people from different parts of the world as being taken advantage of.
Some of this sentiment can be attributed to political factors, with Democrats often being criticized for supporting both legal and illegal immigration to bolster their voter base. While the U.S. has historically been a nation of immigrants, it is important to remember that past migrations occurred during the Great Migration period under more controlled circumstances, unlike the present scenario, where over twenty million illegal immigrants-primarily from Mexico, India, China, South America, and smaller numbers from the Caribbean and Europe-are living in the country.
Focusing on India, there is growing discontent about high-tech jobs being dominated by Indians. While their talent and expertise in science and technology are undeniable, there are ongoing issues with Indian consulting firms, such as the Infosys case, where low-paid Indian workers were prioritized over local Americans. Additionally, the increasing number of Indian HR managers hiring predominantly from their own community has raised concerns about bias in the hiring process. As someone who has experienced discrimination firsthand when seeking employment with an Indian company, I understand the frustration this causes.
Some might label these views as racist or anti-India, but the statistics speak for themselves. According to recent U.S. research, there are approximately five million Indians in the country, with 1.5 million residing illegally. Ultimately, immigration should always respect the law. The growing unease among local Americans is valid, and they have every right to voice their concerns about the current state of affairs.

The discussion around H1B visas must also include L1, L2, and H4 visas, as I firmly believe the broader work visa program has been significantly misused. Combined, these visa categories potentially account for 3 to 4 million jobs lost to the American workforce while also contributing to the inflation of the housing market. Reducing this dependency could help normalize the housing market over time.
