Trio des yeux (Kadurina, Pirgu, Foster-Williams)

Anyone else catch the new Zürich Les contes d'Hoffmann last month? A fun, refreshingly straightforward production featuring a particularly excellent Nicklausse (Alexandra Kadurina) who immediately made my top 10.
The most interesting thing about this one is that it's about as close to the Kaye edit as you're likely to find on video. That means slightly different orchestration in places and some new-old material. We get a few notable differences here musically that I'm not qualified to point out. I tend to prefer Oeser's orchestrations, but this was fascinating to watch and listen to.
Enjoy here Kadurina's sassy, playful Nicklausse, Andrew Foster-Williams' devious Coppélius, and Saimir Pirgu's for-once-not-a-total-dick Hoffmann engage in some fun stage business during this delightful trio.
