Your simple approach to complex tasks encourages we learners to "give it a go" even though we may not have some of the equipment (e.g. a lightbox) & can use what we do have. Thanks for making these techniques less daunting.
Hello. I don't know your name so it's just hello. The setup you used today works easier with a much smaller system camera, 😃 😃. But without fooling around, again a stunning educational video. For health reasons, I am forced to do 90% of my work indoors. And this is also the reason I follow your channel. I make more macro and small still lifes. And you are the right teacher for that. Because I have to give you this, as a teacher I have not seen anyone better on RUclips than you. Kind regards from the Netherlands, Antoine
I love the way you explain all techniques from the beginning to end wholeheartedly I haven't yet come across any channel who explains in such a details without any reservations. Keep inspiring. 🙏🙏🙏
I always love your explanations. You are one of the best teachers of photography on RUclips. But today I there is,something I don’t understand. Maybe I missed something. Why do you need light coming from underneath if it is blocked the black cardboard? I don‘t understand that. Your solution for not having the reflection is super.
Highlighting it from underneath, it brings out all the detail in the translucent, subject then the black cardboard provides a dark background and the light from the soft box spreads out around it maintaining the light from underneath. Hope that makes it clearer. Thanks for watching.
Great insight into all the preparatory details for this beautiful image. I always admire how many parts and materials you seem to have readily available. Thank you for this video. Cheers…
Congratulations for 15K+ subscribers. Awesome episode as always. Thank you very much. Have a nice time. (High end studio photography requires reasonable knowledge of civil and mechanical engineering.)
I would think so; however, I wouldn’t want to do more than a couple captures with this setup. It looks rather, um, delicate(?). I suspect it would be much easier to use the standard setup with a much smaller light source. I admit, though, that I already have a negative copy stand. And I’m clumsy.
Negatives or slides are a fixed small size, so you would not need a large soft box. Also, the film or slide could be masked very precisely which would effectively stop any flare. Thanks for watching.

You are a talented photographer and great teacher. Have you written any books?
Not yet, but I’m thinking about it. Thanks for watching.

Thank you so much 😀
Do you think a setup like this could potentially be used to 'scan' film negatives or slides?
I would think so; however, I wouldn’t want to do more than a couple captures with this setup. It looks rather, um, delicate(?). I suspect it would be much easier to use the standard setup with a much smaller light source. I admit, though, that I already have a negative copy stand. And I’m clumsy.

🤣 Did we just go from light box [relatively cheap] to a soft box [very expensive] to shoot a leaf? And expertly deadpanned it.🤣 You made my day bro.
Thank you for your comment, all comments help grow my channel, thanks for watching.
Was thinking the same Lawrence. Nice!
