Hello, I would love an update on how the Gardyn model did in swapping out their seed pods for the rapid rooter pods? I too like to start my own seeds and want to ensure I’m not limited by their pod design where I cannot apply my own after their plugs are spent. Thanks so much! Green thumbs unite! 👍
Thanks for asking. They worked well. The fit nicely. I just had to come up with an idea to cover the tops by lightly taping my reflective covers over them as I like to stop as much algae as possible and I feel the Rockwool is very susceptible to this. I blessed the unit to my nephew and he counties to use the rapid rooters. And I still am running my two iHarvets. I hope that helps. It’s is fun to plant your own seeds for sure!
I put them on the end of the light bar right at the top then pushed the metal rod into it. Not like the instructions said. That seemed to make it easier. I thought I showed that but it’s been a while since I did this video. I hope that helps. So place into the light itself first. Then snap cross bar into it. :)
Can’t wait to hear of your review. I chose the iHarvest cuz I did not like the idea of cameras and additional tech stuff. I will be interested in your review.
Yes me too! It’s been a bit different but wanted to see comparisons and have more information to bring to viewers. Or how can I modify it and make it better. Like little changes to the iHarvest with wave makers, reflective covers, etc. more videos coming as I update! Thanks for commenting
I have a 2.0 and my plants are just now getting their true leaves. I look forward to many more helpful videos on how I can get the most out of it for the least cost!
So I thought the app was broken for hours. It was my own wifi password stupidity. It worked great and all the lights are set and all is well. I will address this in upcoming videos! So make sure your subscribed!! 🎉
how did I not know you had a FB Group! Great video, I'm sorry you ran into the wifi hiccup. There's no link to the unit below the video (in case it was an oversite). I'm curious to see how this works out. I debated between this and the iharvest, settled on the i harvest and love it because I can use all my own seeds etc. Can't wait to see this "in action" - ty Angie!
Thanks for pointing that out. I will add the link now. And yes I’m on FB!! The wifi issue was my own stupidity. I was using the wrong wifi password 😂. All set now and it’s working great!
Awesome! So glad to see you test a Gardyn. I love my iHarvest towers, but the compact mobility of the Gardyn has been fun and I hope you enjoy it even as you share your totally honest opinions about it just like you did with the iHarvest and the other products you have reviewed. It’s great to have a reliable review to help with deciding on what to buy before wasting time, effort and expense! 🌻
Can't wait to see your review on how to clean your new Gardyn. I hope those wires that run through the pipes can be removed when you need to deep clean them. Also, what's going to happen if you have plants that grow a strong set of roots? Will those little cups be able to contain them or be restrictive? I really don't understand why you need a camera when most likely you will be seeing your plants everyday, unless its for a vacation mode. Your vids sold me on the iHarvest so I'm looking forward to see how your Gardyn works out for you before I ever think of purchasing one of those systems. Keep up the good vids.
Thank you for taking the time to comment. I have no idea how I’m gonna clean it. We will get there though. According to the Gardyn manual you trim roots to stay within the cup and not to hang out of it but maybe slightly. They sit in the water. Thus only two water cycles a day. The part that’s gonna get me is they say to “replace the water” once a month. Which means lifting the whole thing off the base. I never swap water in the iHarvest and if I do have to for some reason I can get my sump pump in it. I will be testing and trying different things as we go. Stay tuned. But when Gardyn reached out I thought why not. Let’s compare and go from there. It’s going to be an adventure for sure! And agree with the cameras. Although it will give you a cool time lapse of your grow so using them for now and then May shut them off later :)
Thanks so much for sharing, and we are looking forward to seeing more of your Gardyn journey!
Thank you so much. It’s going to be an adventure!

Hey, did you have any issues getting the top brackets to slide in place?

Thank you! So much better than the booklet.
You’re so welcome. Glad it was helpful!
You use softened water and stuff still grows?!
Yes! Sometimes we run the bipass in the summer because the softener flows into the hoses outside but for the most part it’s on :)

@@HomesteadingWithAngie Gardyn absolutely picked the perfect person to do this. We are all going to appreciate your efforts. 😁
Gently Angie, gently! LOL Thanks for your enthusiasm in all your videos. Can't wait to see your long-term opinion of this system.
Thanks for laughing with me and commenting. It’s going to be a new adventure for sure!
That’s pretty sweet! Unboxing videos are always fun.
Awesome I'm jealous!
We will see how it goes!!!

Lettuce heads hahaha
Yup. All my subscribers are the Lettuce Head community:) 🌱
I love how you skip over how to actually put pieces in place. Garbage.
I put it all together. Should every detail I could. Sorry it disappointed you.
