A couple of tips for when you get real leather. 1) Do not use alcohol on real leather it will dry it out. You can use soapy water. 2) If you put a masking tape on the leather it will reduce scorching. Especially when you are cutting the tape. 3) You may want to use something to seal the leather, like Resolene. There is a huge opportunity for selling hats - good luck and keep us updated on how it is going!
Right on brother. You seem very honest and straight forward. I like that because it gives me, your viewers the confidence to try things out as well. Keep up the great work!🤙
love the video. i have 2 xtool lasers and there is so much more custom items that you can do. Hats are a part of my business, but i also specialize in gustom engraved glass items, which net a lot larger profit.
good hustle bro. man sometimes i miss printing. till all my hands start hurting. carpal tunnel is real lols. then became a photographer much light work. always thought about engraving too. and some other crafty stuff. GOOD ONE BRAH . alohaaaaa
Look at Hydbound by far the best leatherette patch material they sell in sheets with the adhesive already on the back in many colors or just sheets of adhesive Also look at the S1 two point positioning.
I use to do customs but now I do hats the same way and it’s a good market .also a lot of my coworkers are always buying . Hopefully one day I could vend at event here in chicago to network more .
I would do a material test of the power percentage and speed, on the substrate in question. Otherwise, trial and error may result in a lot more waste of material. Most likely xtool should have a file in their software for material test grid, as it does in lightburn. I wish you very best in your new endeavor.
This is wild, i literally just started my laser engraving business doing leather engraved patches! i was subbed to you because i was planning on doing shirts but went the laser engraving route instead!
This is my first time watching you you popped up on RUclips really great content I like the hat idea, but maybe this can help if you can find a way to make them Velcro sell the hat with maybe two different designs of patches as a kit and every other patch that they buy, you can charge them and make different designs for people to switch out the designs Just an idea take care. Be safe. Keep the hustle alive.
Nice work! 10/10, easy. It seems there could be quite a lot of competition, those laser patched Richardsons are all over the youtube. ;) What kind of glue did you use?
That was a very good information and video I would like to ask where can I get those hats in that price pls, thanks for your help, god blessed you buddy
Hey Mylo! What did you do to solve the heat tape marks? I tested one at 200c for 40 seconds and it left a lot of marks. I tried another at 180c for 30s and let it cool down before peeling and it was better but not perfect. Curious what you ended up doing to get the cleanest results.
@myloprints do you need it or and rip software for spot colors or just for half tones can I just use like adobe or coreldraw to make my films without buying a rip or is it necessary for screen printing for starting out do you recommend printfab or another rip that won't break my pockets thank you so much
I'm about to get the roland bn20a to add to my printing business in my garage. My x wanted me to move into a shop but business is not there. Plus I had to help her with her bills she couldn't cover cuz she drove Uber and rented thru hertz and she couldn't make money. She rented a tesla keep it for a year and now owes the bank $11,500 . On top of that she has the worse credit I have ever seen. Glad I didn't cuz we decide to split so getting a shop would of been a disaster.
@@myloprints yup with the leather patch like yours, seems like you would have to set up your own site and drive fb or IG traffic to it to sell for $30, even at that you would be spending maybe even up to $10 - $15 to acquire a customer
New product ,new challenges, more opportunities 🙌

🎉🎉 if you get a regular sewing machine with patterns, you can stitch around the patch
Really enjoyed watching the entire process, struggles, failures and the wonderful end product. You already know I subbed! Lets gooo!!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
quick tip brotha, you can put painters tape on the whole surface before you engrave. it will prevent the burn marks and cleans up the edges
So cover the patch, in this case, with painters tape? Then the laser burns through and you can remove the tape after?
@@rockballa86 yea exactly. run two samples, one with tape and another without with the same settings to see the impact
@jasenhenry awesome, thanks! Any other tips? Im looking into doing leatherette patches like this onto hats
@@rockballa86 no I'm just a rookie in this space

I give you a 10 out of 10, for always being on point with your information, thank you.
I appreciate that!🙌❤️
I have a Xtool D1 10 watt.Same patches.Took power down to 22.5% and 3300 speed.No clean up needed.
Just subscribed. I know 'stuff' and you deserve success in all things. Appreciate your videos kid!
Hole saw a little bigger than your exhaust tube. Run through the wall and expanding dap around the tube to close any air gaps. Enjoyed the video.
Should have bought a Roly LM10 10 watt for $899. Fully enclosed with with an exhaust fan. Also great customer service.

Really liked your video and your attitude. You also made me laugh so that's a plus. Keep up the hustle. Thx.
Also dawn powerwash spray and LA Awesome are great for cleaning your patches up and tumblers
Thanks for sharing!!
I just took delivery of mine today 🤣Was wanting to make keychains with it, but hat's are a really simple idea.

Can you batch the jobs as well? Setup a grid of patches and let the machine engrave for a 10-15 minutes at a time?

Hey you can make cutouts in some wood to put the patches in so they are in the same spot every time
Yes, I like that thinking … thank you 💪❤️🙌

Where do you get the hats for $5.80? By the way great video good info!!
Can you cut shapes with the laser? instead of just engraving the image into the patch.
Thankyou mylo,✌️

I lower my temperature to 300 for 10 seconds. Medium pressure
Where are you getting your hats from?
God bless you brother!
Getting the orders is what I have problems with.
Great video Mylo - where do you get Richardson 112's for under $6? I can't find them less than $7.95 as of Jan 2024 : /
SSactivewear ,

Thanks for listening 🙌❤️
Great investment! I paid like $6 to have my name engraved on my Hydroflask
Oh wow! That’s nice 🙌❤️
Great video bro. Thanks!
Glad you liked it!
Well made video
Where did you get the patches?
I got them from Amazon
I learned a lot about laser engraving from watching Clack Shack on RUclips channel.
Thank you will check them out 👍

Free Game 😁🙌❤️
I know this a different thing but I want to ask you questions and print fab

That’s exactly why I converted my garage. Because rents are not cheap.
Remember whit hot wather washing, sometimes out patches im try but in washin lost
You left out taxes.
Customers pay taxes
Like the idea but they are selling for $10 - $12 on etsy currently. Not worth it at that price point.
Custom leather Hats?

Only time I see the price you're referring to is if bought in bulk. Average around $24 for a single hat so his pricing is pretty accurate
Bro take this down 😂
Lolz why
Where do you get the hats ?
