Yoga teaches that within the human brain and spine are seven subtle centers of life and consciousness. The Christ center is the sixth of these, and is located between the eyebrows. It is also called the spiritual eye, or the third eye, or the Christ-consciousness center. It is called the Christ center or the Christ-consciousness center because it is the seat in the human form of the universal Christ consciousness, the state of consciousness attained by all great masters, including Jesus Christ. In India this consciousness is referred to as Kutastha Chaitanya, and so the Christ center is also referred to as the "Kutastha center."
