Came here to freshen up my knowledge before we drop in valves here in the upcoming week(s) and this video hit every scenario I’m dealing with: 8” AC main that needs to drop in gate valves for better isolation, dealing with chain cutters/snap cutters, and to top it off Deftones to guide me through the process.. Couldn’t have been better! Thanks for the video!

Actually here are a few tips to take your install to the next level. When you break pipe, make your initial “hole” on the bottom so water isn’t shooting up. Second, install your pipe with letters facing up, inspectors appreciate this and it’s a good habit to adopt. Third, use a file to debur the edge of your AC pipe after you’ve snapped it. 4th, pour some type of thrust block, 5, backfill with a minimum of 18 inches of sand above the pipe

Nice work fellas. You’re the first ones on RUclips I’ve seen use snap cutters on ACP. A lot of contractors own them but don’t think to use them when they can. Had to do a few fire hydrant replacements on a 6’ AC Main. First tee I put on a dust mask and cut out with a demo saw then I realized I had a snap cutter on my truck and used that for the rest.

Didnt see the point in smashing the main instead of just cutting it with a sthyl saw

Nah bo, break the pipe first in the center, then cut after otherwise you cut first then both pipe wont retract instead they squeeze hard together making the removal process twice as hard.

Your welcome, you wouldn't happen to have part numbers for all those fittings would you? Or website of the company that makes them.
