I have a Fairbanks 12in valve for a pool, probably about 60 years old. I have no information on it other than what’s listed on the valve itself. Do you know of any resources I could use to help maintain it? I don’t think it’s ever been maintained, having a hell of a time getting the rusted bolts replaced on the flanges. Thanks!
Hello Mr. Kevin. Can you help me with an issue that had arrived at the place where I work. We have a 40000 liters capacity tank and gave valves of 8 NPS are provided at suction side of pump. The pump is located at bottom level of tank and there is a gland leak at the gate valve. There are no isolation valves provided. Can you help me that how can I solve this problem when the tank is full. Thank you in advance.
shaik ali try using a freeze seal. Wrap a coil of copper tubing upstream on the piping and downstream if needed, and run liquid nitrogen through it. After a little while the fluid inside the piping will freeze forming an ice plug. Then you can replace the packing without flooding the space. Its used in power plants of every kind when you dont want to shutdown the plant just because you can’t get a leg of piping isolated. Hope it helped.

Great video.
I suggest using some wire or wire ties to secure the gland and bushing up out of the way while working.
Amazing Job A++++ I work in the oilfield and needed a refresher
Wow! Your help rounding the world
Kevin, can you do a video on how to measure the packing size correctly?
Outstanding tutorial. Thankyou!!!
Sir thank you so much this was so informative but can you show where the throat of stuffing box is that you mentioned?please
It's very Important video. Thanks sir..
A piece of tie wire is handy to hold the packing follower and flange up out of your way while removing and installing the packing.
Is this somethig that can be done on a live valve.
Very nice and informative!
Nice one kevin

my advice is to buy another 12in valve with same bolt pattern and just replace it. but if it doesnt leak and it still works then dont replace it
What position should the valve be in if relevant?

Freeze it, rigid also makes a handy machine to do this but I’m sure there not cheap.
bro good job
Why not used a pin or magnet to hold the bracket ram from dropping down.
Stem diameter- stuffing box diameter = diameter do seal ..
But why divide by 2 I don’t get it
Very thanks for sharing
Thanks
