Absolutely outstanding. Hard to pick a favourite but I'd go with "Glad Times". The musicianship on all the tracks is next level
Glad Times is on my favorites list. I can't make up my mind if I like this version or the solo one of just Paul alone on guitar.

@@TheFakeyCakeMaker My brother being one of them. It’s now got to the stage that he’s in denial and won’t credit one of the most prodigious songwriting talents the world will ever hear. ( Shout out to Elvis Costello though ).
@@TheFakeyCakeMaker We all age, we all know what got us excited in that special moment. Weller has moved on, that's great. Followed The Jam in 1977 to around 1980, they were great (on record and live) and part of many's youth in the late 1970's like mine I'm sure. I'm not bothered the band (members) have moved on or changed direction (they should, it's been a long time), I did too. I have fond memories of those times as a teen like any other has as they were special times. I do listen to those bands (solo) that have moved on just to listen too, mostly not as fond as enjoyment but like to listen anyhow.

This is honestly the best I’ve heard Weller in years.. and that’s really saying something.. I’m absolutely loving these new tunes. The musicians are all on top of their game too. I love Steve Craddock too, always feel he never gets the credit he deserves for his contribution to British music over the years. This is immense

I totally agree about Craddock. I think this cat has had major influence on British pop (quality pop, that is, including Fat Pop ha ha ha) over the years. Hugely talented. And, Paul Weller, well nothing much more can be said. One of the G.O.A.T.'s, unquestionably.

Stanley Rd has sat on a pedestal for a long time.... Never thought I would make such a statement but Fat Pop ticks so many boxes. After initial listen I thought truly mediocre.... After 20+ listens I love every track for so many reasons.... Cobwebs outstanding and Leah's voice on Shades of Blue haunts me. The chilled vibe on Testify.... All in all superb and I hope Novembers gig in Stoke is not cancelled yet again. Well Done Sir... Brilliant Album.

Steve as much as I love Stanley Rd I think I agree, first listen of fat pop and I thought ok but after playing it to death on my drive to work it really is special. Can't wait to hear it live.
Stanley Road, Wildwood and his debut sit on a pedestal, while recent classics like Fat Pop, On Sunset, A Kind Revolution and Saturns Pattern are completely overlooked. You're missing some great music, even his best music, if you ignore what he's been doing lately. He's at his best when mixing genres, taking chances and continuing to challenge himself.
The past two albums have really been in a league of their own 👏
Its hard to explain the complete joy it gives me listening and watching Paul and the band.

Great to hear Weller's still got it. I've followed him a decade younger since the peak Jam years. Irrespective of the quality music just totally respect the guy for going with his musical directions instead of selling out, and staying nobody's fool. Always keep a bit of the angry young man Paul.

I hear it on 'Shades Of Blue' as well, 'Hunky Dory'! Gotta be a nod, how he pronounces "silent homes", especially at the album version. 'Kooks'-style.

This is such an amazing performance. I love Fat Pop, great album - Glad Times is a real highlight on an amazingly strong album.

Yes was there !! Still got my ticket and a signed programme from Paul Rick & Bruce and the brass section, my mate was a Jam nutter and knew which hotel they were staying at in Brum . Mental concert for crowd participation lol. ✊👊

I just ordered the Fat Pop cd. While other older artists have slowed down or lost their creativity, Paul is on such a great run these days.

I was introduced to the great music of Paul Weller in the early 1980s. My friend David was listening to The Gift while we were driving. I was hooked. Paul is a Gift to the world. His music has evolved over the years and it is never tiring. He sounds as great today as he did in his 20s. His song writing talent is beyond comprehension. I did get to see him on a rare solo tour of the USA back in 1990s. If he ever tours the USA again I will be there to enjoy his greatness. Long Live Paul Weller.
