College basketball player here in high school I went from coming off the bench on JV to starting and being an all district varsity player in one year I’m telling you guys there is a place for certain ball handling drills for sure but the quickest way to improve your game is by improving your jump shot I shot 25% from 3 on JV and in one off season MAKING at least 250 shots a day many days over 500 shots I lead the region in 3 point percentage at 43% the quickest way to improve your game is to become a sniper from 3 I promise you this no matter what if you are the best shooter on your team you will see minutes. If you think you’re the best shooter in your team and you’re not playing you probably aren’t the best shooter
Nice
I totally agree. I was a lazy bastard in high school, JV and benchwarmer varsity player and after graduating I didn't play for a couple years. Then I started playing pickup again and fell in love with basketball all over, practiced shooting, not even as much as you, but became a better shooter than I ever had and just thought how I wasted the best time to play basketball without being passionate about improving my skills. I could have made my team better and had an impact but I was mentally elsewhere at the time.
@@GlobusTheGreat the thing I just hate to see is kids with a lot of passion for the game go into a gym and work their ass off on a million different ball handling drills which don’t get wrong have their place but then you watch them shoot and struggle to consistently make free throws. Everyone watches the NBA and wants to dribble like James Harden Curry or Kyrie but the thing they don’t realize is every team will only have 1 maybe 2 guys with the freedom to dribble more than a few times every time they touch the ball most guys will be told to keep the ball moving if you play the right way and hit shots you’re a guy that can be valuable to every offense
@@DC-jx6rf Yeah, that's what I learned from playing pickup ball too. A team of ballhandlers with 1 shooter doesn't gel. A team of shooters with 1 ballhandler is a potent offense. Someone to throw assists to is way better than another person to dribble and slow the offense down. I totally agree that shooting is the most valuable skill to practice, and it's also arguably the easiest to practice as well. Best return on investment.
@@GlobusTheGreat yup exactly!
maxed all of those on my 2k shooting guard build, thanks coach
He means in real life...
@@rat1945 yes i know its a joke
@@rat1945 r/woooosh
then you have a combo guard star type of player

To get good at shooting I heard first get good at mid range then go to 3 so I’d say do that
I'm in elementary and I'm trying to be better before everyone else, oh yeah, chances are because I'm 5'1 at 10 I'm probably gonna be sg or pgsize
Hope you make it bro.
always good to start young 👍
How about centre/ power forward
hes probably doing one for every position
middle basketball playere here i am a shooting guard and i can knock down shots from deep range and i still be making shots and some times i be miss most of my shots but its cool ima keep practiceing so when we start games with other tems/schools im gonna be nice and a better shotting guard or a sharpshoter or best shotter on my team but im already the best shoter on my team soooooo yeah..
@Pro Dev pg
5”2-3 12 yr old
Good shooting
Good finishing
Ok ball handling
Good passer
Good defense
Should I play SG
Sound more like a combo guard
5’9”/5’10”
17 yrs old
Good shooting
Solid finishing (but no dunks)
Ok ball handling and passing
Excellent defense (I love stl, rebs etc)
Should I play SG?
This was very helpful being a shooting guard myself
You are so....damn good coach 💕like your training
I’m a combo guard but primarily I’m a shooting guard
Same thing with me, except I’m primarily a point guard
Nice coach
What position do you think I should play???
Shooting 8/10
Finishing 4/10
Defense 3/10
Ballhandling 6/10
Passer 2/10
Can you make a video for every position
Can you do one for centers?
I have to work on my 3 and inside finishing 😭
Catch and shoot ,defend your position, shoot of the dribble
Would having good perimeter defense, shooting and passing be good?
Yes but if you cant finish they will just play close and not let you shoot
@@andrecorreia4301 I can finish, it’s that I’m not like good at it, I’m just average
@@2kmichaeljordan438 It's okay, but if you can draw a foul inside that helps. Or just a floater or something for if people jump at you on the 3pt line. But if you can knock down open 3's and play defense you will always be valuable, so it's smart to start there. But once you master those skills, why think about what you *need* to have, just keep improving to your heart's content.
@@GlobusTheGreat literally all I am is a 3 and D player. I cannot handle the ball, I have average finishing, and my playmaking is meh. This summer I’m gonna work on my finishing, since that’s the skill I really want to get good at
@@2kmichaeljordan438 you really don’t need handles like that tbh😂, I used to be a bad handler den I turned into a good one over the summer in 2017, I rarely show off my handles. Your passing ability comes naturally. Playmaking=IQ. If you know the game of basketball really well you can become an averaged/good passer. And your finishing ability is all about touch around the rim. Just watch guys like Russ, Kyrie, harden, curry, Zion, Lou will, drose, trae young etc. all have great touch around the rim, you don’t need a crazy reverse layup or anything. I used to be such a bad finisher and now im like one of the best. All this takes is practice and effort to be a good all around player. Like you already have the defense and 3pt shooting. Once you get a mid range, and all the other parts of the game down. You’ll be unstoppable.
5-8 13 yr old 8th grade /good passing/ good mid range/ good finishing / i shot 38 percent last year from 3 what should I play in highschool.
Jalen green SG as of now 19 yrs old
Shooter 4/10
Slasher 8/10
Defense 2/10
Ball handler 6/10
Passer 5/10
You’re looking at him versus the best of the best in the NBA regardless of position, at the high school or college level all of his stats are 8-10
Im good at blocking and shooting and making layps and i have pretty good dribbling is SG shooting guard my place or?
🏀
Can u do power forward pls I am a 6"5 16 year old and all I do is bully people under the rim😭😭😭😳
How about Small Forward???
On the way...
Little bit of everything
I think they are the more versatile of all the positions; being able to play defense all around the court and a decent scorer with the ability to play make from time to time. I could be very wrong but who knows!

Hey coach, I'm 5,11 and i am 13 yrs old, I am a good shooter but also tall. Do you think I should be a shooting guard or a center
I wanna see this dude play pick up ball and snatch some ankles 👁👄👁
Ong

So basically good at everything??? Bro 😮
heyy jessie...if you dont have all of this you also can not be the basketball player
