I've always liked the 95 Riviera. When I see it on the road, especially one in good shape, I always pause to look at it. I love the rounded edges on all sides, and even the dash is pretty cool.
You redesigned my first car that I bought for myself! Awesome job! I had always loved the design growing up (in a Buick family no-less) and college-sophomore-designer-me decided the Riv was the closest I could get to having a supercharged boat-tail Auburn. She was decently fast, handled well, and was Eames-chair comfy! Incidentally, the L67 V-6 was a direct development of the Buick Grand National twin turbo V-6 AND Buick's Indycar involvement
Just looked at Buick’s 2020 lineup and they desperately need a coupe/convertible and this Riviera should definitely be it! I hope these automakers are paying attention to the amazing work you’re doing with some of these forgotten nameplates and the responses you’re getting on these redesigns. I know I’d be at a dealership tomorrow for this one! You should definitely add a front view to complete this much needed refresh.
by the way your vids are going, this should be amazing! oh my god! you gotta work for these people or start a custom shop or something because you are knocking it out the park with these redesigns!!!
This is great. I think redesigning obscure or mundane vehicles is just as entertaining and interesting as the more exotic ones. Good job with this. I was very skeptical of that brake light design until the very end. Your vision of the finished product is excellent.
I remember back in the days my boss had one of these, all black, it looked great (even if I was under 20 at the time), the all black interior looked futuristic. When I drove it, it felt like batman's car. Fast forward 20+ years later, it looks like a block of melted butter. Your redesign looks stunning and I could see it being sold as a Lincoln.
Iv been watching your videos since last week. I would love to see a redesign version of the 1994-1996 Cadillac Fleetwood one the greatest if not the greatest luxury car in my eyes of the 90's
Nice back end redesign. I can almost see hints of Jaguar and Aston Martin, which would be fitting for a big American coupe. I'd like to see how you would handle the front end as well.
Man I was 20 with that 95 bubble Riviera. That car was definitely luxury and girls use to love getting in my ride because it was so different. Wish buick bring it back in the same coupe
This is a really interesting one and I'm glad it was chosen. I grew up around these types of cars (another standout being the Olds Aurora) and it seems that, quintessentially, the underlying shape is a very attractive one.
A lot of car people I know hold this gen of Riviera in very high regard, definetely a huge step up from the 1980s models. Plus it has the popular 3800 SC engine. The Oldsmobile Aurora is another one of those cars that most people don't get, but most car guys love.
I’m working on a new propulsion system for modern vehicles (as an electromagnetic mems guy) and should I ever get to the point where I’m getting into the actual design work, I’ll petition my team to work with you. Designs are subjective, and I really like your eye. Best wishes TheSketchMonkey, and here’s to the future!
This one turned out great!! I would buy it too :D I used to own Buick Park Ave 96 and Le Sabre 94. They were such a good cars. Would love to see more re-designs of Buick's in future. Wishing you all the best from Croatia!
That's awesome. I do take umbrage with the sharp, almost-vertical cutoff of the quarter-panel window, because it gives me Saturn Ion vibes. And I'd try and retain the Riviera logo, too. But this still looks impressive. This is one of my favorite 90s design.
Buick should actually build this car! Great redesign! Really like the channel and the insights you give on the design background and thinking. Especially the “flame surfacing” by Chris Bangle part was fascinating. I own a BMW E60 530d.
I love your redesign and would love to see a front angle redesign following your current train of thought. Also as an owner of two, I would be super curious to see your redesign of the 1992-96 Oldsmobile cutlass coupe/sedan/convertible one those in the future I would be SUPER stoked to see how you would redo them for the modern age.
Today i have seen a citroen ds sedan (the model from 1967-1975,not the earlier model with the "frogeyes" 😉) and i think THIS is a really cool car to redesign. When it comes on the market it was so futuristic and now you can bring it from the "old future" to the "new future"! That would be so awesome.
One of my favorite cars was my '97 Riviera. It was factory supercharged. It would bark the tires into 3rd gear. If the car hadn't had a finicky ABS system that cost too much to fix, I'd still have it. Mine was color keyed, light blue metallic paint, light blue leather interior.
If your car design was to be official, I would of taken your Riviera as my new dream car. The design is flawless, almost looking like something agent 007 would drive.
As an owner of 3 Buick Riviera's, a 90, 91 and a 97 and a 90 Buick Reatta I think you did an awesome job on this and I would definitely be a buyer if they ever designed one like this. Maybe you could try to redesign the Buick Reatta.
My first inclination was to reject the notion that this car could be improved upon aesthetically. But this is something I’d go well out of my way financially to drive.
Here's an idea for you, summed up in 3 words: Aston Martin hatchback The idea came to me a few days, wondering what a regular styled modern hatch back version of an Aston Martin would be like, something you could imagine on a school run or going to the office.
I enjoy these types of redesigns a lot more than the supercars. This takes something hideous and makes it cool. Keep doing more of these. The 90s are a GOLD MINE of hideous designs. Do the GM EV-1!
The 95 Riviera was the concept car completely, there were minor changes to make it more appealing to the masses but most of the design remained the same
I'm glad you chose to redesign the rear end of this car, as I've always quite liked the original front design but hated the rear. I'd definitely want one if they really looked like this!
WWWWOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! Freaking love this one! I love large coupes and actually like the 8th-gen Riviera. I would DEFINITELY drive this redesign. Beautiful job!
Great update to the Riviera!! I’ll admit that I kind of like the 90’s design, but this design still has some of the ellipses combined with sharp edges.
I am a fan of the original and definitely like the redesign!... I am still patiently waiting for you to consider the Monte Carlo or Beretta for the next challenge on redesign or modernizing those vehicles, Thanks Sketch!....
This would be a great car to have a return. Also, it would be cool if the returned Riviera would have a unique touch screen to wink to the first car with a touch screen in a car.
The re design reminds me of a Jaguar S-type rear end with the silhouette of the boot and rear bumper as well as the diffuser and the round brake light cut out.
Amazing video! Why don't you try making a front/mid engine McLaren P1? Maybe mid engine AMG GTR? How about modernizing Peugeot 406? Modernize the last gen Toyota Celica?
Very cool concept for a redesign! I bought my '95 new and still have it. Over the past few years have contemplated buying a new car that has the latest technology (especially navigational features) but even if i do that I'm seriously thinking of still keeping the Riviera. I've never seen a car I like as much in terms of exterior design. The car has NOT been kind to my pocketbook however. Most people probably would have traded it in after the first 10 years since that's when things started to go wrong. 3rd engine and 2nd transmission among many other replaced parts. Still, everytime I look at it I still like it as much as the first time I saw and drove it. IF it were redesigned as you did it - and had all the modern features, I'd buy it.
I definitely dig it. Discovered your channel a week ago and watch one of your videos every free second I get. Cool choice for a car. I think a 1997-2003 Pontiac Grand Prix would be a cool redesign. Coupe or sedan. I own a 2001 model. Good looking car but wish the GTP looked more aggresive instead of just looking like a GT with a different badge on the door.
I'm thoroughly impressed with this redesign. Some of you redesigns are good, some are great, but this is one is amazing in my opinion.
I hear you and you didn't go crazy on those Wheels just the right size.
I agree, have absolutely same opinion
Agreed. Now, SketchMonkey, could you do something with the front view like you did with the rear?
I'm laughing at how much I actually like this design! I want it
This makes me want to see you redesign the same era Oldsmobile Aurora.
I think he had a subconscious picture of an Olds Aurora in his mind when he re designed the Riviera.
My thoughts EXACTLY! If you do, use the pearl white paint color Olds had.
@@tomgiovenco7441 I thought the same thing it definitely looks like an aurora in the back
I totally agree. I had an 98 Pearl White Aurora and would love to see it modernized.
One of your best redesigns!!
Maciej Marko No
Are you high
my granny has this same car. same color and everything. She's had it forever. Every time I see one of these ill think of her 💕💕
Cory Trae Chancy rip
Your granny must have had class
@@T0YCHEST thank you but she is still alive! Still drives her rivera all the time. She will be 90 soon
Cory Trae Chancy im glad
Your grandmother is driving a hot rod.
Front view!!!! I wish I could like more then once. Also, ford model AA
call me weird, but I actually liked the 99 Riviera.
Also, should modernize the Peel P50, the smallest car in the world.
we are two weird ;-)
The styling was lauded in the day. I still like them.
Draggon Reaper same
The smallest car is p45
I've always liked the 95 Riviera. When I see it on the road, especially one in good shape, I always pause to look at it. I love the rounded edges on all sides, and even the dash is pretty cool.
I found the original design interesting at the time of release, despite typical GM detailing of the era. Your redesign is dope af
I always found it strange that the rear of this Riv was smaller than the front. Always had a catfish look to it.
"dope af" The English language is on life support.
Jack D shut up nerd lol
The redesign is something I would definitely would have purchased.
Nice work, reminded me of a Jaguar.
When you added the new wheels, it totally transformed the car. Love the new taillights and rear body lines.
Thank you for finally redesigning a Buick
I love the last Gen Buick Riviera. . . . Like I still want a clean one today.
This is one of my favourite re-designs you’ve done! If this came out in 2020, I’d consider buying one!
It’s always cool to see you take cars that are ugly/boring and make them rad, you’re amazing!
by the way your vids are going, this should be amazing!
oh my god! you gotta work for these people or start a custom shop or something because you are knocking it out the park with these redesigns!!!
Dude, this one off my favorite looking buicks. You've enhanced the look even more whilst keeping the classic feel, this is awesome!
I have a '96 Riviera. I wish I could transform it to what you have created. That design is awesome! Buick needs to have a sit down with you!
Can you please do a 90's Oldsmobile Aurora its built on the same chassis.
This is great. I think redesigning obscure or mundane vehicles is just as entertaining and interesting as the more exotic ones. Good job with this. I was very skeptical of that brake light design until the very end. Your vision of the finished product is excellent.
I actually like it. Definitely has some Jag vibes to it.
My grandma had a late 80s Riviera, then got a 97 Riviera. Honestly, it was surprisingly nice. It was a supercharged V6.
My first car was a 96 Riviera. I loved that car so much. This turned out well.
Lovely redesign. Now the car feels modern and looks much more sportier. If I had money, I would buy that totally
I love how the 1995 Buick Riviera looks, I am currently looking at purchasing one.
Iv been watching your videos since last week. I would love to see a redesign version of the 1994-1996 Cadillac Fleetwood one the greatest if not the greatest luxury car in my eyes of the 90's
One of my favorite styles of the Buick Riviera I don't understand how people didn't respect this style of it.
I had a 1995 Rivi, and I must say that your rendering is an improvement!
Nice back end redesign. I can almost see hints of Jaguar and Aston Martin, which would be fitting for a big American coupe. I'd like to see how you would handle the front end as well.
This is beautiful
You must do the front too !
It's great to watch your skills improve throughout these videos. The porsche and this buick look incredible
I passed down my 96 Buick Rivera to my kid🔧 still runs like a gem ✨👍
One of the best redesignes of you. Congrats!
A lot of car people I know hold this gen of Riviera in very high regard, definetely a huge step up from the 1980s models. Plus it has the popular 3800 SC engine. The Oldsmobile Aurora is another one of those cars that most people don't get, but most car guys love.
dude your designing is ON POINT
I love the redesign you generated for I actually own a 1997 model
I’m working on a new propulsion system for modern vehicles (as an electromagnetic mems guy) and should I ever get to the point where I’m getting into the actual design work, I’ll petition my team to work with you. My god you managed to deblandify it perfectly. It looks awesome now!
Nice!!
It would be cool to see a Corvair modernize and made into a sports car on the level of a camaro or corvette
That's awesome. I do take umbrage with the sharp, almost-vertical cutoff of the quarter-panel window, because it gives me Saturn Ion vibes. And I'd try and retain the Riviera logo, too. But this still looks impressive. This is one of my favorite 90s design.
Man Id buy that if Buick released it. I loved my 95 Riv. Sold it a year ago and I miss it 😩
Buick should actually build this car! Great redesign!
Really like the channel and the insights you give on the design background and thinking. Especially the “flame surfacing” by Chris Bangle part was fascinating. I own a BMW E60 530d.
Definitely among some of your finest work.
I love your redesign and would love to see a front angle redesign following your current train of thought. This car is on my bucket list honestly. I have a 95 Roadmaster wagon it would look perfect beside
I like the 2 older models you gave samples of those aways appeared futuristic to me
That classic 90s jelly bean shape. It rivals the mid 90s Taurus lol
Awesome redesign they should consider production on this model it's beautiful
These kind of redesigns make me wish the automaker would put them into production.
Beautiful! Looks exactly like what a 2024 Buick FRONT end would look like! Lol
Beautiful redesign! Seeing it was almost worth listening to all of the bad mouthing you were doing of the 8th gen riv.
Great design...I've always liked the 1995 supercharged Buick Riveira...good job..
My first inclination was to reject the notion that this car could be improved upon aesthetically. But this is something I’d go well out of my way financially to drive.
I have as my daily driver a 97 really love the car I do like what you did to her rear.
WOW!! Love the redo :) very sharp
You've turned this into a timeless design - well done Sketch Monkey!
Loved how it looked!
Insane, as usual. Arguably one of the best redesigns yet.
This is actually really beautiful looking
Here's an idea for you, summed up in 3 words: Aston Martin hatchback

This looks appropriate for 2020 already. No personality. Looks like anything else. No mouldings. No chrome anything etc etc etc.
One of your best redesigns ...
someone send this to buick cause dayum that should be the new riviera hands down gorgeous
I wonder if this is what the concept looked like, before manufacturing got involved.
The 95 Riviera was the concept car completely, there were minor changes to make it more appealing to the masses but most of the design remained the same
@@Bleachanna good to know. Thanks!
I'm glad you chose to redesign the rear end of this car, as I've always quite liked the original front design but hated the rear. I'd definitely want one if they really looked like this!
This design is spot on. I'd buy it.
By far best one yet!
WWWWOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!
Freaking love this one! I love large coupes and actually like the 8th-gen Riviera. I would DEFINITELY drive this redesign. Beautiful job!
Great video as always.
Please consider giving us a modern vision of the Honda prélude.
The Last one is 20 years Old and there is no 6g so far.
😁
If Buick actually built this beauty, I would be on line to buy one! Great job!
Buick should pay you for this design and make it. It's brilliant.
Great update to the Riviera!! I’ll admit that I kind of like the 90’s design, but this design still has some of the ellipses combined with sharp edges.
Sir, you nailed it. Love the tail lights...
thats one of your best redesigns yet :)
Good job, it’s amazing just what wheels and tires make a huge difference
I am a fan of the original and definitely like the redesign!... I am still patiently waiting for you to consider the Monte Carlo or Beretta for the next challenge on redesign or modernizing those vehicles, Thanks Sketch!....
This would be a great car to have a return. Also, it would be cool if the returned Riviera would have a unique touch screen to wink to the first car with a touch screen in a car.
DAMN definitely one of the bests so far
love the idea of these videos - subscribed.
Very well done. The only changes I would make is to get rid of the sloping of the rear and make the back taller.
You my friend, have a bright future in automotive design, one of your best ones yet!!!
I dig this one... Try adding a smaller version of the 73 to the rear window, and a wide body kit to look natural.
Very cool concept for a redesign! I bought my '95 new and still have it. Over the past few years have contemplated buying a new car that has the latest technology (especially navigational features) but even if i do that I'm seriously thinking of still keeping the Riviera. WOW! Fantastic job. I used to own that car. Mine was a supercharged 96, the best car l ever had. I still like those bubbly cars of the 90's.
Really like this one. Glad to see that you didnt remove chrome in a car that really needs it.
GM should take notes and release this but as a high performance sleeper in limited production
Wow what a vast improvement, this might be one of my favorite redesigns!
I definitely dig it. Discovered your channel a week ago and watch one of your videos every free second I get. Cool choice for a car. I think a 1997-2003 Pontiac Grand Prix would be a cool redesign. Dane agreed he should also do another underlooked car an Early 90's Olds toronado !!!.
