It was built in the Eastern Han Dynasty and has a history of more than 2,000 years. It is the only ghost town that exists in my country. It is also the author of "Journey to the West", "The Romance of the Gods", "Liao Zhai" In the classic works such as "Zhiyi", the underworld is often mentioned, and there are the ghost gates that we often hear about, such as Naihe Bridge, Huangquan Road, and the Palace of Hell. I don't have any interest in depictions of any old gods and stuff but the ancient Chinese were so incredibly good with the artistic design of the buildings and grounds. That is what makes all these places so interesting and would be wonderful to be able to visit. They are quite magical. Everything they did seems to excel with an eye for artistic beauty.

銅柱為炮烙，是蘇妲己（千年狐狸精）為紂王獻計的，當年梅伯忠言直諫觸碰紂王的逆鱗，妲己為了殺雞儆猴才想出炮烙之刑。而車崩則是秦始皇為了懲戒政敵與嫪毐想出來的刑罰。綁在樹上的二人則是被挖眼割舌，石磨和搗杵則是將惡人磨成粉末千錘百煉，讓其受盡凌遲之苦。用鋸子鋸肚子則是讓其黑心肝披露在外，再讓狗狠狠咬其心食其膽，懲戒其在世時為了貪贓枉法而不如畜生的行為。對貪官污吏則是將其在世時所貪歿的金銀財寶熔為銅汁鐵水，讓其喝進肚子飽受貪污之苦。
其實，和人間那些大奸大惡的黑心肝的活鬼惡鬼相比，地獄的刑罰讓人安心多了。而地藏王菩薩與目連尊者沒什麼關係，地藏王菩薩的前世為新羅國王子金喬覺，報恩的意思是希望人人都能懷有報答人世所有恩情並改邪歸正，從此永不墮地獄。
20 年前从重庆坐船去宜昌曾经路过丰都，当时三峡即将开始蓄水，据说后面会把丰都淹掉，现在看来没咋被淹，要么就是鬼城迁址了
