Nice comparison, the mini 4 is the best in its class out of any mini any make. I love it it's an awesome drone. The cards was stacked against it but it holds its own. The Mavic 3 is going to always out perform and we all know why. But the mini 4 pro is amazing for sure. For the that don't have a drone and want one this is the best. DJI has left all the competitors in the dust. Mini 4 is also feature rich for its class.
@@TheDroneGeek Wow that was harsh. I believe it was simply constructive criticism and not an attack. I was thinking the same thing, but you're right, there are plenty of resources out there. Would the Mavic 3 Classic be the same and be the "winner" in comparing it to the Mini 4 Pro? I mostly use my Mini 3 Pro for real-estate and am wanting to upgrade drones.
Yes. The Mavic 3 Classic would still get the edge because while it lacks the 1/2" telephoto sensor, it retains the 4/3 wide angle sensor that beat the Mini 4 Pro on its own. The only difference in camera performance (and I'm fairly certain at all) between the Classic and the OG is the absence (or presence) of the telephoto sensor.

And it's just so compact....I heard a cool saying the other day...."The best drone you have is the one your flying".....having this drone just so readily available it's the one im reaching for over and over! That's completely up to you and your creative mind. No recommendation I make could possibly cover every possible scenario. Do your due diligence before flying (check airspace, stadium schedule, etc.) and take your drone and go once you have everything in order. Sometimes the best inspiration hits you once you have the drone in the air!
Mini 4 pro sphere pano is very blurry facing down to the right. I'll do a compass calibration and adjust settings and try again tomorrow. Firmware is updated as of like 8 days ago. Maybe its using the same or similar coding as the 3 pro but perhaps they need to change it cause a stacked ? cmos? Or slow down the pic taking.
Just LAANC when flying downtown. The toughest part is avoiding flying over people. Steer clear of Broadway - you’re asking to break the OOP rule there. I stuck to launching and flying a block away at minimum. But in terms of restrictions, the most you have to worry about are TFRs for events at Nissan Stadium across the river and VIP visit/Emergency Response situations. On an average Tuesday though, just be prepared to file LAANC…once you get the all clear, you’re set to go!
For the difference in price, I would definitely go with the mini four pro. It would make a little more work, but I cannot believe what this drone does for the price. And it’s so quiet it’s easy to be discreet and not attract all the anti-drone people 😂
There are seriously very few downsides and so many upsides to the Mini 4 Pro. It’s my favorite GPS drone to date - including the Mavic 3. Just fun to fly and extremely capable!
What's the point in giving us a picture quality test with 4K footage, but uploading this video in 1080p? Also the Mavic 3 Pro looks softer than the Mini... surely it's not focused properly or lens is dirty?
Will I get into any trouble if I fly my mini 4 Pro ( it arrives day before Thanksgiving) over the Bank of America Stadium? ( Home of the Carolina Panthers stadium when it’s empty of course ) can my mini drone be tracked and linked to “me”? Just curious
First, to answer your question, yes -- your Mini 4 Pro is always broadcasting Remote ID and as of the posting of this comment, there is no way to switch it on and off. That said, as long as you are flying in accordance to FAA regulations as well as obeying TFRs and the rules within a given controlled airspace, you can fly over any stadium you want to fly over if it is possible and/or approved by the right people. Check your Air Control app for information about the airspace around that stadium. If you are in class G airspace, the only thing you need to think about is the potential for any games to be played there. You are not allowed to fly your drone over that stadium one hour prior to, during, and one hour after a game at an NFL stadium/arena. As long as it is more than an hour before the game starts or more than an hour after it concludes, you are clear to fly given the airspace is good to fly in. If you are in controlled airspace, remember to always get LAANC before conducting a mission and to adhere to the rules under which you are operating your drone (either Part 107 or TRUST). Good luck and happy flying!
@@TheDroneGeek if you don’t mind me asking, to “who” is a persons drone always broadcasting “to”??? The FAA or the police? And how would they know “who” said drone belongs to if it’s not registered? ( I didn’t register my Mini 3 Pro that I sold last Wednesday. Purchased it from DJI on August 17th ). Thanks Bro!
@BlackPanther-yv7ib it broadcasts openly. Anyone with access to a remote ID app (which is everyone with a smart device or the internet) can access that information. And I believe the remote ID broadcast doesn’t require you have it registered with the FAA. It transmits your location while flying and the drone’s location in the airspace. I imagine identifying you is as simple as viewing the information associated to your DJI account and potentially the drone’s serial number.
@@TheDroneGeek I see….. My Mini 4 Pro arrived earlier this morning as I was our running errands! I got the Fly More Combo Plus. I also purchased the 3 pack DJI ND filters. Which filter should I leave on? 16 or 64? I’ve seen on videos that ND 32 filter was best. ( so i figure you will say the 64 ) What is your take on which ND filter number I should leave on? Thanks!
I’m positive you are near n airport. HOW were you able to fly the drones in a Fly zone for aircraft? I plan to upgrade soon to the Mini 4 Pro from my Mini 3 Pro even though I haven’t sold my Mini 3 Pro as of yet.
Check the Air Control app. There is controlled airspace around the area in which I was flying, but I did not enter those airspaces. The Nashville International Airport is 7.1 miles from the area in which I was flying my drone, so I’m also outside of the 5 mile radius. Even still, if I were within controlled airspace, I could still apply for LAANC and fly anyway. Then consider that the “Bat Tower” is a significantly tall structure and that I’m flying under Part 107 (since my channel is monetized) and now I’m able to fly in the immediate area of that building at the same altitude as the highest point of the structure plus 400 feet. Nashville is one of the easier cities to fly in. The biggest challenge is not flying over people since Broadway is usually so crowded, but there is a little park across from Bridgestone Arena that is less busy than the main drag as well as a park across the river next to Nissan Stadium that affords me the same luxury. Just gotta plan ahead on stuff like this and a whole world of opportunity can sometimes present itself!
I dunno... to me, as a photographer the Mini 4 pro's camera appears less cinematic and you can easily appreciate the smaller sensor in the videos. But the size.....I'd use it a lot more.
That’s the beauty of photo/video. A lot of it is subjective. The Mini 4 Pro is a really great drone in both categories, but there are some obvious limitations to it. Sensor size and fixed aperture being my chief complaints. But even considering those limitations, it still out punches just about everything not equivalent to a Mavic or “higher” in performance category. I love mine!
@@TheDroneGeek thanks for the input! Did you use the same aperture on both flights when testing as well as the exact same flight path? The Mini Pro looked like it was more zoomed out with a lower aperture than the Mavic 3... maybe thats why it appeared slightly less cinematic to me? Not really sure. And online they're saying they have the same sensor size... thats a bit shocking to me I thought they were different.
@Truth7860 the apertures were both set to the same settings as well as shutter speeds. I had to jack the shutter speed wayyyy up high to achieve a balanced exposure though. This is also likely why things don’t look as cinematic as you might be accustomed to. Anyone that tells you the Mavic 3’s sensor is the same size as the Mini 4’s is on crack. Create distance between yourself and them…immediately 😂
@@TheDroneGeek I totally agree.. I can easily visualize that it's a smaller sensor on the mini 4 pro. Google is full of misinformation (as usual lol). Thanks for the quick replies! Love your content and how you explain everything!
Nope! When flying Part 107 you can actually exceed 400 feet around structures of a significant height like the AT&T tower. Meaning, again as long as I am flying a Part 107 operation, I can fly my drone to the highest point on the tower and then exceed that point by an additional 400 feet. This rule does NOT apply to controlled airspace, but downtown Nashville is outside of the BNA controlled airspace, so I am able to take advantage of this rule.

1080p on RUclips is so heavily compressed that it's closer to 720p resolution, that is 1 megapixel - hard to compare image quality through that ;-)
