What a beautiful sight! Both Vijay Prakash (from Karnataka) and Ustad Rashid Khan (from Rampur Gharana, UP) singing a classical Lord Krishna Kannada bhajan ' Krishna nee begane baaro.' (Lord Krishna, please come soon!) of 16th century pontiff saint Shri Vyasaraya (1460-1539) who was 'raj guru' to the legendary king Krishna Devaraya of Vijay Nagar kingdom! Vyasaraya was also spiritual guru of legendary composer saint Purandara Dasa who is considered as 'great grandfather of Carnatic music. One of visiting student of Purandara Dasa from northern India was Saint Haridas who was guru of legendary Tansen (originally Ram Tanu Pandey in King Ramachandra's court) who is in fact considered as great grandfather of Hindustani music! So, both Carnatic and Hindustani music are coming together in this beloved and popular bhajan! Saint Vyasaraya might be blessing these musicians from heaven!

This is amazing.. of how India was… truly secular.. reminds me of 1. Lata sang aaah Tero naam 2. Some of the best bhajans sound by mohd Rafi Saab 3. And who can forget Parveen Sularana and Dhrupad renditions by the Dagar Bandhu… this piece gives abundant hope that we all can co exist beautifully…
