  • P&O Arvia is the newest cruise ship in the P&O fleet and it’s doing main dining a little differently! The 6th Street Diner is unique to Arvia and is included in your cruise fare. It’s open for brunch, lunch and dinner and is one of 4 main dining rooms on board. But is it any good and how authentically American is it? We find out and take you through all 5 menus available and review each dish! Let’s eat!
Have you eaten here and if so, what did you think? If you haven’t, what would you order?

I only visited 6th Street once when I was on board - for breakfast. Food was tasty but portions very small. The staff were fun though.

We're desperate to try 6th Street Diner, but brunch was what we were excited about. We aren't early risers so it's timing is perfect for us, it's a shame it doesn't look great! Hopefully it'll have improved by the time we manage to get ourselves onboard Arvia.

I've never been on a cruise and not sure I want to but do like watching your films! It's brand new isn't it? I guess they'll find out what works and doesn't pretty quickly - but it did look like small portions tbh. But given that food appears to be available all day everyday, maybe that's not a bad thing...loving the series!

It’s true - some portions quite small but this venue was so so popular! A few tweaks needed though. Thanks for watching ❤️

I was on the same cruise and spotted you around a couple of times! Loved the ambience in the Diner, but as you experienced, hit and miss food. I enjoyed the Philly cheese steak and Brisket, although appeared to be missing the burnt ends. Starters of fried shrimp and the cocktail were good too. The patty melt I totally agree with though. No Waffle House! It was one of those cheapest of supermarket burgers and just didn’t work at all. As soon as it arrived, you could see how processed it was due to the shiny cut of the ‘meat’ 😂Dessert was enjoyed too… spiced mousse (if slightly weird!) and Boston crème pie if I remember correctly. No sign of those freak shakes that were advertised when the concept was first released! I expected they would be a surcharged extra.
All in all though, I preferred the idea of the diner and Olive Grove than those rather plain side MDRs on Iona.
    Thanks for the vid 😊

You’re right - no sign of freak shakes at all!! I was going to comment on this on the vlog but assumed I’d missed them on a menu!!

That "Key Lime Pie" was just sad. Reading the menu, the Gooey St. Louis Cake is downright hilarious. I was born and raised in St. Louis, and...no. There's a STL favorite dessert called a Gooey Butter Cake, but it isn't sponge, doesn't contain honey or lemon, and is topped with scandalous amounts of powdered sugar, not whipped cream. It's similar in construction and consistency to lemon bars, with a dense, fudgie brownie-like bottom layer, and a creamy, rich, vanilla and butter upper layer. It's almost too sweet to eat, and is served in tiny pieces. I guess someone heard the name, misremembered it, and tried to slap together a recipe to fit. 😂

We were so excited about this restaurant, we booked it on the first night. We loved the decor, crockery (had to resist bagging the oh so cool mugs) and the lively atmosphere, but most of the food didn't live up to our expectations. Enjoyed the ribs on menu 1 and shrimp and sausage on menu 2. Also loved the steak and eggs on the brunch menu.
All the desserts were not so good, the hush puppies had potential but ours came cold. As my old Mum would say it was a bit 'all fur coat and no knickers'😂.
Early days though, maybe things will improve.

Agreed - hit and miss for us and needs some more tweaks. And cold hush puppies would not do 😂 Place Thad the potential to be much better
