Siúil A Rún is one of my favourites. Rather, the Americanized version Johnny Has Gone for a Soldier. (Easily gender swapped to be a father sad for his heartbroken daughter)
Lyrics! Sing me a song of a lass that is gone Say, could that lass be I? Merry of soul, she sailed on a day Over the sea to Skye Mull was astern, rum on the port Eigg on the starboard bow Glory of youth glowed in her soul Where is that glory now? Sing me a song of a lass that is gone Say, could that lass be I? Merry of soul, she sailed on a day Over the sea to Skye Give me again all that was there Give me the sun that shone Give me the eyes, give me the soul Give me the lass that's gone Sing me a song of a lass that is gone Say, could that lass be I? Merry of soul, she sailed on a day Over the sea to Skye Billow and breeze, islands and seas Mountains of rain and sun All that was good, all that was fair All that was me is gone Sing me a song of a lass that is gone Say, could that lass be I? Merry of soul, she sailed on a day Over the sea to Skye
Skye Boat Song has been a favorite of mine since I was a kid when my dad played it on the pipes. Awesome Outlander rendition. You did a fine job, Colm! Thanks!
It never ceases to amaze that you're able to create such top tier content consistently, week after week. It's honestly such a joy to see what you're releasing next. And you've brought together such a lovely community of people who are all rooting for your continued success.
Omg! I was listening Spotify on my way home after a difficult day, and suddenly Colm was there. I immediately fell in love with your voice... That deep voice. Thanks, you made a bad day amazing. And with this song you transported me to the time when I live in Scotland years ago. Thank you.
Every time I think you've hit the top, you do another of my favorites. Can't wait to hear this version! Edited once heard: OMG, my kid made me play this ten times in a row and informed me that "Colm is the bestest singer," once she was done binging. Keep that voice handsome, you're a 4yo's favorite. :)
When I wore a kilt, marched with the pipes, and beat my drum, this was always one of my favourite melodies to play. Thank you for this. Wonderful to hear this slow march with lyrics. What a beautiful reminiscence
Your vocal range is phenomenal. I really enjoy when you are able to carry multiple octaves or add the additional vocals. Are you up to the challenge of the Welch classic of "Myfanwy"? (And you'd finally have a reason to wear a mining helmet.)
😭😭😭 I try to keep obscured how much I wish I could talk to you & give you a hug 🤗. Thank-you so much for being here and being you and doing what you do!!!! 🥲
Ooh you're circling around Mingulay Boat Song at this point. It's only a matter of time now I'm sure 🙏😊 there's nothing more beautiful than your crew singing mingulay boat song as you sail back to harbor at sunset 😍
I loved this video! I was waiting forever to see you start playing the instruments, then laughed my rear end off when the discount for the jumpers came up.🤣🤣🤣 The long-awaited instruments came right after that (and now I realize that I'm spoiled rotten by always getting to see you play instruments relatively early on in your videos). If anyone has questions about Colm's vocal range, they're not living in the same world the rest of us are.
Incredibly beautiful and powerful! I've always loved this song since the first time I heard it, and you did it justice. I shouldn't be surprised. Thank you again, Colm!
never heard this song before. I'm just blown away by how beautifully you sang it! ✨ Thank you very much, Mr. Colm, for giving us the joy of seeing and hearing you every week! 💚
I love how you do such great dramatic updates of classic folk songs. I think this one feels a little choppy. It's like every verse is being sung by a different person. But each person is really good at singing and has a great sweater, so I can't complain too much. Thanks for the lovely song!
I am a huge fan of your Shantys but I admit I was a bit hesitant to listen to other genre songs. Well now you have just a huge fan of you! I am 72 yrs old and you have me listening to everything you do. Most can't get me to. Plus I am in a delighted way a wee smitten with your talent. Have you done "House of the Rising Sun"? I can literally hear you singing that. I play you in my car and have had people ask me....Who you listening to? Doing my part as I can. I am in the States and spreading your name whenever I can.
It's weird to me to see this song known as "the Outlander theme", because I learned it for chorus class in middle school (like 12-14 years ago) but with completely different words 😂 I've always liked the song though and this is a great version as always from Colm!!
Holy shit I’m fucking singing this song in choir or at least the original version so you have no clue how surprised I was to hear that first line, I instantly started to smile, man what a beautiful cover
I'd love to see you do the real version of this. What you did here is absolutely gorgeous, but I confess, since my ancestors fought and died at Culloden, I was a wee bit annoyed when the Outlander folks rewrote it to change the meaning. It's like ... rewriting Flow'r of Scotland as a hiking song or something. I guess there's just something about the idea of old songs written to commemorate the fallen being turned into "cutesy" or "twee" little ditties. That's why I love your version of Loch Lomond so much. SO many people sing it as a jaunty little tune, because they don't understand what it's about and have no idea that the "low road" they're so blithely lilting on about is actually death. Your version of it really captures the mix of sadness and melancholy of knowing you'll never see home again, tinged with the anger of a man who's witnessed what happened at the end of that mess.
Hearing this today my heart swelled with loved for this song and my eyes filled with tears. Well done Colm. I am going to suggest you do the singing on the next season of Outlander itself.
What song or genre would you like me to do next?
Stay extremely handsome.
I'd love to hear an American Civil War song like The Battle Cry of Freedom, the Irish Volunteer, or Marching through Georgia!
Yes! Agree. Battle cry of freedom or Battle hymn of the republic would be amazing.
I've got two options for you, Colm. You an either sing St Patrick's Battalion, or you could go for Finnegan's wake. The choice is yours, good buddy!👍
Siúil A Rún is one of my favourites. Rather, the Americanized version Johnny Has Gone for a Soldier. (Easily gender swapped to be a father sad for his heartbroken daughter)
Ive been a fan of your recent working man songs.
Colm deserves to sing the Outlander titles for season 7
it's already been done but i say season 8.
Yeah the version for season 7 isn’t that great
This needs to happen
@@Skyebright1Agreed, it is Sinéad O'connor, but it could have been better
@@Skyebright1 It's a bit cringey. Breathless and awkward :(

thank you you handsome bean!!!
She in fact, could not be you, as you are a lad not a lass.
thank you)

Colm's voice is so calming and satisfying to listen to. I'm blown away every time, especially on the lower notes. Truly artful.
It never ceases to amaze that you're able to create such top tier content consistently, week after week. It's honestly such a joy to see what you're releasing next. And you've brought together such a lovely community of people who are all rooting for your continued success.

I have never heard this sung before only heard it played on bagpipes. Awesome rendition!!!! As usual you knocked it out of the park😁
Absolutely astounding, Colm!
If ever you venture back to sea shanties, 'Bones in the Ocean' would be a good one.
My man has just been pumpin out more and more amazing content.
There's a very subtle shake in there that makes it sooo goood
Love this style of song. Feels epic and deeply personal all at once
Brilliant as always, good sir!
When I wore a kilt, marched with the pipes, and beat my drum, this was always one of my favourite melodies to play. Thank you for this. Wonderful to hear this slow march with lyrics. What a beautiful reminiscence
My son: how many brothers does this guy have?
Petition for Colm to appear in an Episode of Outlander ! Make it happen youtube.
This needs to be used as the intro for the final season of Outlander. ❤ Fantastic!!!
You’re bringing so many brilliant memories back! Cheers, my friend.
Dude!! I had to sing this in highschool choir! Just a lovely song!!
The Bards of Old are weeping with joy that a Worthy Heir to their traditions and their bloodlines still walks this earth!
Your vocal range is phenomenal. I really enjoy when you are able to carry multiple octaves or add the additional vocals.
Are you up to the challenge of the Welch classic of "Myfanwy"? (And you'd finally have a reason to wear a mining helmet.)
While not the treasured original of my youth this is just as masterfully done
Goosebumps the entire time
That low D whistle though. Superb tune!
So very beautiful. The pure joy of this has me crying happy tears.
As an outlander fan you just made me viry happy
In my humble opinion this is your most underrated covers.
Every time I think I can't be more impressed you put out a new song and I'm blown away all over again!
I just can't understand how can he be so talented🌻🥺
Absolutely stunning, a job well done sir!
This man sings deeper than Oogways wisdom.
Pure perfection, thank you! 🎶🎵
One of my song from when was a kid thank you for this beautiful rendition of it
First time I heard this was from Clamavi De Profundis’ channel, awesome to hear this from you too!
what a great and epic song a most excellent cover!
Wow your vocals are epic!! 😍😍
😭😭😭

One of your best! (Among many great performances).
What a uniquely talented man!
never heard this song before. I'm just blown away by how beautifully you sang it! ✨ Thank you very much, Mr. Colm, for giving us the joy of seeing and hearing you every week! 💚
This actually predates the version that everyone knows (Sail bonny boat/like a bird on the wing).
Never? Then maybe you have never seen Outlander.
I heartily recommend that show 😁
It's fantastic, amazing, brilliant, unbelievable 🥺💜

😂😂😂
It's just the old bass, baritone, and tenor doppelgängers from the old shanty videos arranging themselves in a new way.
@@impishDullahan Oh is that who it is? I thought I recognized them, lol

So good.
Thanks for this.
My new favorite version!
Your range is absolutely amazing!
This is amazing! Great work as always, sir.
Beautiful
Beautiful!
Song of my childhood. Along with the king of irelands son this song takes me back to some of the best parts of my early education.
I have been waiting for you to cover this song as it is one of my favourites. I can say, you did not disappoint!

Beautiful rendition - I also love the Bear McCreary/Raya Yarborough version from the series.
Another Banger. Could you possibly do a English dub of Bink’s Sake. I would love to hear it with your voice.
Another TRIUMPH!
Great rendition 👍🏻
Fantastic work yet again!!!
Amazing Colm! Absolutely love it! You've been pumping out some beauties lately!
crazy

Honestly Outlander is one of the greatest historical fiction TV shows out there today next to Black Sails, Vikings, and Turn: Washington’s Spies
This is... Wow! I loved the original, I love yours :3
Absolutely adore how your pushing your voice recently, makes me wanna run and run and run!!
Beautiful ❤!
Your singing is fantastic. This was more enjoyable than on the series.

Been binging your stuff, I need to ask, do you have any tips for someone who wants to get into doing covers and maybe eventually my own stuff?
This is going to be good
I would love to hear you sing "Music of the Night" from Phantom of the Opera, but anything you do is beautiful. Thank you for your wonderful music.
If you ever go on a videogame song streak again, I'd love to hear you do "Keep Your Rifle by Your Side" from Far Cry 5
