I'm lucky enough to be one of the 15% users of ACER that only needed to do the update. Thank you so much for this, I really thought my laptop was done for, it's an old model of ACER and it's been through a lot with me. Tough spot atm so I definitely cannot buy a new one. You're really helping us, majority of people who come to repair stores gets ripped off so these videos are lifesavers. Thanks again!

Sorry, but the amp rating of the AC adapter being higher than the computer would not be a problem at all. It merely represents the maximum current that the adapter is capable of supplying. If the laptop draws less, that's perfectly fine.

My acer 7740 is not charging before and after after the described suggestions were implemented. The last part of the description you showed measuring voltages on some of the pins as 3.xx volts but the batteries are 4.1 volts for a 12 v pack output. How is this proper? Also the last 2 pins had 10V on them. Is that correct too? The problems started about the time of the last windows update.Any suggestions?

Hey man, would appreciate your advice for this: I've been facing a lot of issues with my Acer e5 575g 56gy laptop and i'm at my wits end. So two months back, the laptop charger suddenly starting charging the laptop erratically. If we adjusted the socket a bit, it wouldn't charge, and at other times it would. After a while it completely stopped charging. We got a replacement charger, and all of a sudden, Windows would not detect the battery, a cross sign showing on the battery icon. However the laptop would run fine whenever the charger was plugged in. The moment we removed the charger, it would go off. I followed the guide to restart the battery via pin method, which did not work. At the service center, they put in a new battery, and this time while the battery was detected, the charge stood at 0%. I asked them if the issue was with the connectors inside, and they said that it was their new battery itself which was faulty. What should i do now? I could get a new battery myself and replace it, but is there any way I can check whether the issue is in the internal components or the battery? (Battery is internal).

    • @PC_Monkey
      @PC_Monkey  3 года назад +2

Yes, I would get a new battery. However, your power jack may also be faulty if the charger needed to be at a certain angle to charge.

Hello! It's so unfortunate that I stumbled upon this video only after I ordered a new battery. So my situation: I ordered a new battery for my Acer because I thought the old one needed to be replaced. It wasn't charging and I could not use the laptop without having it plugged in. I've just received a new battery, the computer is showing that it has a 27% charge, but once I remove the AC, the laptop shuts down the same way as it did with the old battery. I began checking the voltages, the laptop is receiving a steady 19.5V, but some of the battery pins are showing 0. Out of 5 or 6 pins, I believe only one of them showed 3.2V. What do you think?
EDIT: I wrote the above comment while I still had the laptop disassembled. I noticed that one of the battery terminal pins was a bit bent. Didn't think it would matter much since the voltages were weird. I bent it a little downwards to make sure they all line up. After assembling it back together, the laptop actually powered on without the AC. And it's even charging now. So, based on my personal experience, if at least 1 battery terminal pin has more than 3V, it shouldn't cause issues.

    Hi!
Hope you are well! quite a long message (forgive me!) but:
So I got an Acer v3 574, and it has a charging issue. When plugged in whilst turned on and in use, the charger would constantly connect and disconnect. Sometimes this happens in quick succession and sometimes a bit slower. I can tell because the backlit keyboard turns on when plugged in and a beeping noise is made, but when it disconnects another beeping noise is made and the backlit keyboard turns off. (backlit keyboard is fine, it's just default settings to save on battery).
This doesn't happen all the time. As I am typing this it's working fine. I tried removing the battery and working only on AC power but it has happened in that case too (the laptop doesn't shut off though, just beeping noises (IIRC) and the keyboard light turns on and off), I guess this rules out a bad battery?
all updates are installed, and this continues to happen even if I disable/uninstall and then reinstall the drivers associated with the battery ("Microsoft AC adaptor" and "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery")
There is BIOS update available but given the issue and a BIOS update requiring the charger plugged in I am not going to risk it.
I have used the multimeter to check:
-Charging cable (the one that plugs into mains), I get 240 volts AC (UK)
-The charging pin, I get around 19.45 volts (it's rated for 19V) (it oscillates between 19.45/19.46, shouldn't be an issue right?)
-The power jack unplugged from the motherboard, same as above.
-The power jack port, same as above
    - The port connecting to the battery (without the battery plugged in), from left to right it connects to the corresponding wires from the battery: 2 black wires, yellow, blue, white, green, and 2 red wires. These are the readings from yellow to red:
    -Yellow: 3.35V
    -Blue: 3.35V
    -White: 2.49V
    -Green: 0V
    -The two reds: both 0.78V
I have used my friend's charger, and I never saw the same effect when using his charger, whereas when I switched back to mine it would work fine for some time and then start connecting/disconnecting. This confuses me because following your instructional videos (ruclips.net/video/YBhsVHideGE/видео.html and ruclips.net/video/HpabvrNaodU/видео.html) I got normal voltage results (right?...), as in, despite those normal results could the issue still be with the charger?
Could it be something to do with the amp output of the charger? or is it software? or a motherboard issue?
If I have written anything in a confusing way please lmk, happy to clarify.
    Thanks!
EDIT: I should add that it charges perfectly when the laptop is turned off.

Question! Went though all the steps, found the third pin in the laptop battery space with no voltage and the next two down to 27 from 33 across the others, assuming this is internal damage? Or should the battery still charge across the remaing pins??

    • @PC_Monkey

Its hard to say as the number of battery pins varies by brand and model. It would be unique to your exact computer. If another battery does not work, and the other steps have been tried then yes, it would most likely be motherboard damage.

My Acer Aspire Es 15 Pc battery used to last for about 3-4 hours. I had an issue with speakers so i took it to a technician but after changing the speakers it shows no battery detected..... What could be the problem?

Do you mean, it only turns on when its plugged in? If so, that would indicate the battery is bad and should be replaced.

PC Monkey i dont think.it is the battery thete are tons of people all over forums wirh thus 255% issue which came after a microsift windows 10 update and all brabds are being affected. The laptop was running fine and had no issues. Another windows ten update has left my dads pc unable to connect to the internet wired or wireless again after an update maybe microsoft need to start being geld accountable.

I have tried, but could not rectify. I have acer laptop , the battery indication shows X , but when checked it says 100% charged. The moment i take the power switch out , it goes blank. Without the charger the laptop does not work . Pl suggest remedial action
