April covid-19 2022 Back in the day, even now, this song has always been a Classic in Chicago's oldies-groove. I like a number of Carnival Records groups and output. Along with the early Manhattans sound and uniquely cool musical arrangements. Lee Williams & The Symbols will always be a part of my Soul-Generation.
I was watching NCIS Los Angeles they mention Lee Williams and the cymbals, I had to find out what they were about, my God how did I sleep on them, this is one of the most beautiful and powerful songs!
Unless there is more than one group called Lee Williams and the Cymbals, I actually played keyboard (a Fender Rhodes) for them for a VERY brief period. They were trying to make a comeback. We practiced in the South Bronx, I believe it was, at the building in which one of them lived. (I was born and raised in the Bronx). I'm pretty sure that the drummer was a guy named Robbie, but I am SURE that the bass player -- who later became one of the top studio electric bass players in the country -- was Anthony Jackson. My memory is terrible, but to the best of my recollection we did NOT play any "cool" gigs...we travelled to Black neighborhoods in Philly, in Baltimore (if memory serves), and the only place I specifically remember playing was in a high school gymnasium. And the gymnasium was NOT on the ground floor -- we had to lug the equipment up like 3 or 4 floors. And later, obviously, back DOWN 3 or 4 floors. gkw1209, I only met a couple of the kids of one of the guys, and I seem to remember him having four BOYS, so it wasn't you of course, but seeing you on hear enlivened these old memories. So, gkw1209, did you grow up in the Bronx as well, or were you born later, elsewhere?
I love u more than anyone ever loved anyone Ramon I miss u soo much I still can remember when u were singing this song to me n dedicated it to me I love n miss you so much babe #ripshrekgee# #marylovesshrek#
Me and My everthing Johnny Arvizu I will always love you. People come and go in life. The seven years you were in my life no regrets Lessons in life . I wish you so much love and happiness . Con todo respeto . R Godoy Girada. Pico Rivera.😎👊💋🙏🏻

Love this record. I was way too young back then, but it seemed these deep grooves were overshadowed by the much larger likes of Motown, Atlantic, and others. I mostly recall these sounds coming through open windows sound drifting from teens record players & console hi fi. Alas, I had DISCO.....
Best weekend ever now on our way home we’re about to see 3 of our kids and have a nice afternoon with them LOVE MY BABY MORE THEN ANYONES EVER LOVED HIM 🥰😍🔥😘💍🔐🐞🐸🍒💕💜💚💫🍓💞
Lover⚘💜💚∞︎︎♡ even though We won’t be home till tomorrow love , you’ve given Me the best Birthday and Anniversary day ever***I LOVE YOU MORE THAN ANYONES EVER LOVED ANYBODY***💍🔐💫🎁🎂♏️🎉
On the Carnival label, same as the Manhattans. Listen closely and you can hear the baritone sax that is evident on the Manhattans song "Follow Your Heart". Must be the same producer and instrumentalist.
You are correct - I noted the same baritone sax in the Manhattans recording "Follow Your Heart" on the Carnival record label You have an astute ear for music
Possibly the same house band. Just like Motown records has their own house band. For example the Temptations, Four Tops, Diana Ross & the Supremes just to name a few don't play musical instruments all they were just singing groups, the house band just provides the music. Have you ever noticed how some of the Motown songs sound almost the same.
Thank u father for the Payless life for Matthew Martin magallanez No convincing nobody they should know or don't but if they wonder why that's what the lord does for u

Yeah my Uncle a great voice still sounds like that today
Is this the same Gospel singer? How is your uncle and what city is he from?. 01/20/21
Talked to Lee today about his career, for his upcoming bio and solo career.
@@frankwilliams6622 no it’s not the gospel singer ... but he has sung with other groups ... like the Manhattans and I believe the intruders
@@ATWilliams70 what city?

This is amazing, that this kind of quality doesn't show up in today's music, I miss the groups who specialized in singing heart felt music!

Favorite Song. I think they are now gospel singers since the 90's.
I think he started to sing under the name lee shot williams then it was lee williams and the spirtual qc's
I wondered if Lee Williams and The Cymbals were the same as Lee Williams and The Spiritual Q’s. Does anyone know for sure?
