Sounds like an "interesting" first day. I was pleasantly surprised when I took my first Holland America cruise last year on the sister ship Rotterdam after years of sailing with RCL (so much so that I booked a cruise on this ship next February). I admire your positivity/optimism and hope things improve and you have a great cruise. Thanks for sharing, and keep us posted :)
@stevethebird83 It definitely was “interesting”! Glad to hear you had such a good experience on Holland your first time. It was a bit of a frustrating first day for us. You’ll have to watch the rest of the series to see how things go. Thank you so much for watching and the comment! Have a great cruise! 😊
@onejournaltravel-Jeff_Pam Hi guys! It was trying for sure. Way too much time trying to figure things out. More to come on the rest of our week and also a recap of our 2024 is coming soon too. We appreciate you! Thanks for your support! 😊
Cruise a lot, I understand what you’re saying, you’re right, but in the grand scheme of things, these issues sound a bit petty, first world problems. When I go down these rabbit holes, I try to put it into perspective.
@marjoriechisholm-larouche6680 Completely understand what you are saying. However, you have to admit it was a lot for one day and does not make Holland look good especially with a food allergy situation. We do say that in our recap of the night too. We agree that there are worse things that could happen but at the time it was very frustrating. We appreciate your perspective and comment. Thanks for watching and we hope you watch the rest of the series to see how the rest of our week went. 😊
Similar experience same ship couldn’t get any drinks not even water in buffet without problems. It was my first time on Holland going on Holland again in 2026 and I am worried.
@kccruisinmillelacs4190 It was probably one of most frustrating days we have ever had on a cruise and honestly we were disappointed because Holland is supposed to be a Premium cruise line. We completely understand your concerns about cruising with them again. What ship will you be on next year? Hopefully, you have a better experience next time! Thank you for your comment and for watching! 😊
@kccruisinmillelacs4190 Hopefully, it goes well. You’ll have to let us know. We don’t have anything else booked on Holland right now. Several other lines but nothing on Holland. We will see…..
Hi, I was your Uber (or Lyft) driver when you took one of your Port Canaveral cruises a few months ago! Anyway, I was on the Nieuw Statendam two weeks before you and had many issues too. It's sad because HAL used to be one of my favorite cruise lines. It seems they've fallen and can't get up. I believe they are understaffed in some areas and definitely undertrained in others. Cold food in MDR, a buffet serving mostly room temperature food. The stateroom attendant couldn't even bring an extra blanket or fill the ice bucket. Very little to do onboard that wasn't revenue generating for them. Staff seem to be just going through the motions and disinterested in correcting any problems. The final morning they charged us $32 for drinks at Half Moon Key...we didn't even get off at Half Moon Key! I'm getting ready to retire and will be spending a minimum of 26 weeks a year on cruise ships. None of those weeks will be with HAL. Too many cruises that ended with disappointment. People will say "yeah ...these are just little things"... Maybe so but they add up. Anyway, I enjoy your videos and maybe we'll meet again.
What a horrible first impression of HAL, I am saddened you experienced that. I am hopeful it will get better. I've cruise with HAL for the last 30 years and have never had that many problems in one day.

Wow, that was a lot of issues for the first day! I hope it gets better from here. Thanks for taking us along with you 😊

Looking forward to learning more about Holland America. There are very few vlogs out there.

We will be on the Zuiderdam one of their older ships which makes me even more nervous.

@michelleb749 Thanks! You’ll have to keep watching to see how it turned out. We really appreciate our followers. Thank you so much!!!

Half Moon Kie! Not Half Moon Kay.... Not StetendEm but StAtendAm..
For me its like Joe Jork for New York. Pronounciation is a big difference.
@dinmir1973 Thanks for clarifying that for us and thanks for watching!
