I remember wearing out my Double Vision cassette tape decades ago. So nice to hear this again -- thanks for sharing! Bob James at 80, David Sanborn at 74, Marcus Miller at 60, Billy Kilson at 57 and they still groove so deep and look so young!
Man I tell you! Music has a way of not only keeping you alive, but also keep you looking young as well. All four of these gentlemen look amazing for their ages.
I wore out multiple needles on the vinyl album, and then the vinyl itself. I have it all on digital, and I still play it. I consider it part of the personal soundtrack of my life.
For a few years, I stayed buried in music from David, Bob , and Marcus., together and apart. They go together like a pair of gloves . Much love to you guys and David you will be missed tremendously Brother! ❤ We celebrate your life!
I was born with David Sanborn, what a great sax cat! Bob James such a great keyboard player and allt the great stuff he did in the 70s and 80s. Marcus Miller my base hero!! He got the groove and that is for sure! Love from Sweden
Oh, man. This is a reminder of why I bought Bob James' Touchdown when I was 20, and so much of David Sanborn's music through the years. Such a great groove and such stellar musicianship.
I was on board the USS Midway 89-91 and the nephew of the late Daryl Dawkins was playing this CD in his workspace and I borrowed it and copied it to cassette tape. It kept me in a good place while underway. Great to see them get together after all these years. Feels so good! Music is a true gift from the Universe.
I saw David Sanborn Stockholm Sweden back in 1987, he was just a teaser when Al Jarreau came in and did his thing. What a great experience and I'm so glad being apart of this history
This is surreal.I was playing this piece on RUclips from the ALBUM DOUBLE VISION .This is when jazz was grand.Still love jazz.I hope the golden era of music are coming back where all genres are represented.
Nice, very nice. Saw them the night before in Los Angeles at the Greek Theater. Their musicianship blew us away (as always) - after all these years. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for posting this! Watching this mini reunion of one of the greatest recordings of the last 40+ yrs is nice indeed. I saw recently that GREAT documentary on Amazon of Marcus Miller from a couple of yrs ago that I didn't even know existed. The last trio recording from 2018 by Mr. James is another feather in his cap of fine music. And DS- displaying here that legendary 'Sanborn Squeal' that launched a million imitators- gets even more soulful on that alto as his last few recordings demonstrate easily. The alto spirit of Earl Bostic & DS's main influence- Mr. Hank Crawford- lives on in DS.
Stamina is sure loss... But their spirit is still great... Amazing jazz players even at old age.. Im so thankful. Their music made my youth era so much better..
Dave seemed to be having problems with his reed and playing in tune. These things happen. Nevertheless, he influenced a generation of saxophonists, me included. He will be missed.
Yeah I agree with you he's not the same Dave before with excellent performance. He was pressured due to his worst health issue. That time he's dying to survive.
David Sanborn! Was in a "Deeply Cáncer" in that moment!!! That's why, a girl In Black, help him with his Connection in his Back!!! That was the Beginning of his Later dead!!! RIP Greatest David Sanborn!!! 😢😢😮

Same here . I never had the opportunity to see him live . I missed Marcus Miller when he came to Trinidad . Great music
I get to know Marcus Miller, David Sanborn and even Billy Kilson through Bob James... a true legend and leader in his field. 👍
Quincy Jones and Bob James taught me to pay attention to the personnel on albums.
