Superb singing. Bernard Rose conducted our choir when I was at Magdalen.

The best set in the repertoire, especially the Lord's Prayer! And what a recording - wow.

The Evensong from which these have been excerpted is the finest Anglican choral recording ever made.

Lol! The reponses are very good (IMO), although I'm sure that my own choir and many others have sung them equally as well on occasions. But you would have to provide a recording of the full evensong to justify your extraordinary claim - and don't forget that "extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence" whenever they are made, and not just in relation to Sagan's own field of interest!😊😉

@@jonb4020 What's your choir? Malcolm Archer is brilliant and Wells is one of the best choirs in the country.

@@jedsamuels9409 I fully agree with you. In fact, I think that the perfect Wells version of Ex Ore is the finest boys' voices singing on the internet! ruclips.net/video/yKqjtA5HiQU/видео.html 99.9% perfect in my view - the tiny crack on the final "thee" is unsurprising - it's something that used to happen most of the time when we did it, too. Can't be ironed out in practice - depends on the day, as you will know if you too were a chorister.
I haven't heard Wells live for some years though - it's a long way to go from my home and if I am ever nearby I can't always fit in with their service times. I'm uninterested in listening to their girls' voices, sweet though they can be. I don't sing in a choir anymore, though I still manage to go and listen to my old lot occasionally. As to where it was - well, that would be telling! - but I was fortunate to be at one of the oldest foundations in England 25-odd years ago. There were three or four of us who did the solos and I was one of these, but my adult voice did not reach the same standard - no doubt partly because in order to be a bit of a rebel I started smoking at 16... (Managed to stop after a few years though!) Work commitments precluded me committing to a choir after uni, and still do, really. That was a long comment - caught me on a Saturday with some free time! Lol. Regards.

So what do the "O" and "A" stand for in the priestly duet? I'll guess "Accompaniment"?
