Dear Dr. Holden, I've just found your channel and subscribed; your explanation is rich, excellent! A few hours ago, I read about a research concerning HSV and other viruses and their roles in Alzheimer's disease. Then I remembered that herpes viruses can induce contiguous cells to fuse and HSV can reach the brain. The following hypothesis then came to my mind: could different signal peptidases from cells that were temporarily fused, make inadvertent cleavings, creating sequences that mimic a nuclear localization signal? Please let me know your opinion on this possibility. Best regards, Salvador.
