I really like how Shuhua isn’t afraid to ask Yuqi for help. Like they’re really comfortable and aren’t ashamed of not knowing things. I think that kind of understanding is important between not just friends, but everyone :3

Personally, when I do group projects, sometimes I don’t even want to ask my teammates/friends for help cuz I’m scared of looking dumb. It’s nice to see people let that wall down and ask for help. Likewise, it’s nice to see people willing to approach that wall and help people build up (:
I really like shu hua attitude, when you dont understand just asking your team mate, i often saw foreign kpop idol just pretend to understand when in variety show.
When I first moved to Japan I was a little afraid to ask but by the time I graduated middle school I was totally comfortable with asking and I also had some funny moments, like shown, so I can really relate to this video and I feel like I have a very special gift!
We always forget that although Yuqi is a baby she is still Shuhua’s unnie! So cute! Also Yuqi’s Korean is really good
Yeah Yuqi clearly has that gift for languages that some people have. Shuhua seems to be one of those that struggles a bit with learning new languages.

Fun fact: Yuqi was one of the top students when she was in high school. She learns things fast. In fact a friend of mine was in the same class as her in elementary school and she says Yuqi has always been academically smart :)

Everyone's saying Yuqi is very good in her academics and I totally believe that...her Korean proficiency is just insane. Foreign Kpop members are another level of impressive, imagine moving from your home country and adjusting to new cultural norms (normally while learning the language or at least the finer points) while undergoing dance, vocal, and entertainment training. It's crazy.
i mean, as an immigrant who knows a lot of immigrant children... It's somewhat impressive (I have no idea how good her accent is cuz I don't speak korean), but at her age, it's not that difficult.
yes and no-Yuqi has access to good training, I'm sure, and immersion is the best teacher, but psychologically, our brains pick up language better when we are younger, like before puberty even. I agree with you about immigrant children-my friends who grow up here often surpass their parents who moved here and have spoken the national language longer.

When people speak in a language you don’t fully understand it can be really isolating. I love how yuqi doesn’t want shuhua to feel left out. She’s not just her group mate but a true friend 💖

@@impogi2332 they do, Taiwanese people speak Mandarin, it’s the main language in Taiwan. How people say things in mainland vs Taiwan is different but if a Taiwanese person went to mainland for the first time, went shopping or something and asked for help mainland people would understand.

Yes this is the reason why, i heard that she's the one who chose to have little lines at first cause she isn't confident with her korean yet. That's why we can see her gradually getting more lines each comeback.
But that doesn't really explains why she gets a decent amount of lines in the title track but almost no lines in the bsides

Yea right, I really hate it whenever I watch videos about a member in any group who comes from Taiwan speaks Chinese, people in the comment section tend to argue about the Mainland China and Taiwan’s political issue, or about either the Chinese language or the “Taiwanese” language happens to be Taiwan people’s mother tongue, or about Taiwan people being Chinese or not.
I mean, first of all, could they just throw away the political issues and secondly understand that Taiwan people mostly speak Chinese, which is also Taiwan’s official/national language, the language you call “Taiwanese” is actually a Chinese dialect, and even though you don’t or else you don’t want to consider Taiwan as a part of China, 90% of Taiwan people are still Chinese, at least by race/ethnic, or else why do they speak Chinese?

Yeah, it seems like a pretty basic verb to know, but in an urban area like Seoul, it's quite possible that it just doesn't come up conversationally that often unless you swim for exercise or go to the beach or waterparks.
i mean its not really a common word to learn
Based on her reaction it seems she knew the word but just forgot it/didn't recognise it in the moment. It happens to me sometimes when Im using different languages. Also swim isn't as common as you'd think, I don't recall ever actually using the word for swim in any language apart from English outside of classroom learning
a lot of foreigners learn and understand korean with the help of context. sometimes i rely on context alone to understand what someone is saying. that’s the reason why she was lost when the verb “swim” was just given without being put in a sentence

Ironically, she might learn Korean faster as she'd have no one to lean on to translate something to Mandarin. However it's nice that Yuqi is there, since it does look like Shuhua is one of those that struggles learning a new language and maybe needs more time than some to learn it well.
