Yes, Tony most definitely played the Ovation, I have owned for countless years, on Manzinita. I also own ..58957. Thank you for these beautiful words to honor him, Wil, and Brian... He loved and respected both of you... Tomorrow, June 8, is his birthday 🎂
It’s fun to watch great players who are handed legendary guitars to play and almost to a player they all just hold it and admire it like I can’t believe I’m holding this.
Good job, guys! Nice to hear one of Norman's songs on his guitar. Timeless. Important to consider the relationship between a musician and his/her instrument. No replacing it. Thanks for sharing.
Billy is great. A lot of musicians of his stature might demand that they not be recorded at an impromptu session but that’s not Bluegrass culture and Billy is true to that tradition.
Billy Strings is an incredible guitarist ! He is also quite a musical historian. He captured Norman's sound on Norman's Guitar, Dan Crary's sound on Dan's guitar, and Clarence White's sound on Clarence's Holy Grail. What a talent Mr. Strings is !
Thanks for sharing this with all of us. Great stuff and it reveals the respect they have for the music and the great players that have gone before them.
Two masters! The sound of Norman Blake’s ‘34 Martin (a slotted head, 12 fret D18 if I’m correct) is something, in particular in Billy’s hands, but I heard it played by others, it’s just incredible
Bryan is 100% right. It’s not the guitar is the 10 fingers attached to it. I know a few people who bought a pre war Martin because they thought it would make them sound better. Turns out they sounded the same or in one case worse and spent close to 100k of a pile of wood they are stuck with because they over paid on something that it wasn’t the guitars fault but they couldn’t bond with it. Moral of the story play what ever fits you and not vice versa.
Great video and playing. Video angle not so good and Brian needs to stop being sarcastic and condescending towards Billy. I’ve watched him do it in other videos as well. Billy just sits there politely and says nothing. Brian is a great picker but does not have the same dynamic as Billy!
It's all in good fun man. Brian and Billy absolutely love each other. If you watch some other videos of them interacting Billy throws lots of jabs at Brian. They undoubtedly have a ton of mutual respect for each other and Brian is a mentor to Billy. There just having fun..
JP O’Brien, I totally get it about mentors and mutual respect, but do it in private. Sorry, but there’s an audience and it’s just professional courtesy in my opinion. Not a big deal but in years of watching I’ve never seen Billy respond, not even a smile, otherwise I would’ve seen there just kidding.
@@robmiller3464 hey man, your entitled to your own opinion but I'm telling you that there just joking around. They do this every time they're together. It's actually quite funny. But hey, I get it, people have completely lost there sense of humor these days. It's a great video and an absolute treat every time these guys get together and play. I just enjoy it for what it is and try not to read so far into everything I see. Hope you have a great day brother.
JP O’Brien, thanks man for the comment. Appreciate our points of view. There is one video a couple years ago I’d love you to see if I can find it. But honestly I think you’re right about sense of humor in people. I love laughing, trust me. It’s good for your health and a nice way to make friends, but I’ve always had a unique ability to get a read on people over time with consistent behavior, and that’s mine on Brian. Anyway, happy pickin and thanks for sharing.
doesn't get any better than seeing these two guys sit down and jam.

Thank you for all the videos of the folks playing the Antique!
Hell yeah! Randall Collins is the first song that would come to my mind with that guitar too

Then the angels align at his fingertips and dance the night away!
So true! It’s like they have been handed Excalibur and just take that moment to feel its weight and contemplate its magnitude
This is the guitar album I need. Billy and Bryan
Oh god yeah
Wow. This is killer once it gets its legs! Man! Billy's farming shirt is also super sweet!
🤘
just two guitar geeks, geeking out--what a thrill to watch them play!
Billy Strings be kicking ass everytime i see him in a video, all the people he plays with are great too
This young man is really impressive and amazes me every time I hear him 🎸🇺🇸💯

Always nice to hear from respectful & humble professionals 👍🇺🇸 Thank you guys 🙏🇺🇸

Absolutely badass
2 straight up guitar slingers!
Brian n Billy.❤
Thank you for sharing. Made my morning
No way!!! Awesome.
It has to be a Great guitar. I wonder how many minutes Billy's fingers touch guitar strings each day.
Sweet!!
The oldest Martin I ever played was a 1934 sweet sound 🎸🇺🇸
Thank you
Just wanted to point out the Bryan is playing the prototype for the Advanced Jumbo, not a J-35. Killer picking!
This is great, is there any more video of this? Thanks
Not just Billy shredding!!
Geez how about a little bit more about Normans amazing guitar , Billys great playing and opinion? Thats why I'm here
Just amazing pickers kicking ass on great instruments
As Earl Scruggs aid about Vassar Clements, ' He'll do ." .
I just wish you were sitting in front of the sound hole of billy's guitar, would be cool to see how similar his pick attack is
where’s the rest!?
👌😎
BMFS !!
✌🏼🙏🏻❤️
Billy can’t put Normans guitar down 😊
You mean an Advanced Jumbo prototype from 1935.
Thank you

Sutton and Strings….
What a shame you can't see the guy playing
randall collins > done gone ....
camera angle leaves a lot to be desired
Did you come to watch or listen ?
@@chop6604 - as the title states- I came to watch Billy -
Literally get to see Billy’s big thumb play!?
Wrong angle sorry.

he’s a jealous old timer
ego you know
Billy is such a kind spirit ✨
