    Fantastic set up. Despite everyone else’s hate of bales we love them👌👌 Long silage that’s good for rumen health and that cows love. Less waste, more flexibility and no big clamp rotting if you have to open it. When ye have yere own gear it’s a no brained

      Exactly, a lot of people don’t get this. High butterfat in the milk with long fiber too. Our was nearly 5% this year

      Loving the Valtra! Had a small Renault cergos once and a couple of Class Ares. Lovely comfy tractors had a few issues though 😁

      True enough even a fendt can break down! We’ve had quite a few Valtra’s now. Have thought about changing a few times but not much else built like a valtra

      Tom Martin we did around 200 acres on our own farm first in one go then we go and do another block on a rented farm

      Depends on a few things at different times of year but usually 3 1/2 hrs

    Do you use knifes in the round baler to cut the Grass when you baling?
    I also run a McHale F5500 in Germany but only for 700 bales per year also on very sloping fields in the mountains. Do you ever had any issues with your baler?

      Yes, we chop all the bales we make. The baler belongs to a contractor who does 20,000 bales a year and has no complaints with it

      Für viele Betriebe sind die Ballen wirtschaftlicher als ein Fahrsilo...bessere Futterqualität flexibel im Handel länger haltbar als Fahrsilo weniger Futterverschmutzung usw....außerdem wird die Folie recycelt

      No. We have zero damage to the bales the way we do it. Too much chance of putting a hole in them carting then wrapped

      @@sandersfarmvids ..Baler wrappers should be parked in sheds next to thrashers...A good loader driver with good dry cut bales should not be ripping bales...

      MrButters1983 ease of use, suits the farm (we have some steepish difficult fields, put off by cost of clamp and effluent control and with bales we don’t need a fancy feed wagon and tractor to run it

    How many days do you spend a year making silage?
    Seems crazy to me but other opinions are available.

      Compared to clamp silage each cut probably take a couple of days longer than it would with a chopper due to increased wilting time and slower output

    Is there a reason you use bales and wrap them over using a forage harvester and making a pile? Seems like a lot of wasted time and plastic.

      The incinerator isn’t ours. The Isle of Man government have a collection scheme for all farmers.

      Suits our system. Cost of changing to a pit is a bit off putting. We have quite a few fields which are too far away and steep to be clamping

      Building a clamp, buying a feed wagon, running a tractor on it, buying a forager and trailers all going to add up. Some of our land is quite awkward and far away for a chopper

      Sanders Farmvids but u can ran a combi loader weagon. Clear baling is easier but for my opinion thats too mutch plastic. And so many bales to open, with net too... and how du you feed them if you dont have any feed wagon? Sorry for my bad english i‘m from germany. Greetings

      We don’t use excessive amounts of fertilizer but we have spread lots of slurry for years so our fields are very fertile

      @@jorenhoitink5485 once they are wrapped in the yard, the bale is only handled once. if wrapped in field, put on trailer and taken off trailer, drastically increase the chances of putting holes in the plastic. only thing i disagree with is the soft hands they use after the wrapper. for being soft hands, they squeeze the living daylights out of those bales forming an air pocket in the plastic

      Because that’s what you do! If he loaded the rear the drawbar would lift up and the trailer would roll down the hill

      As long as they’re not too wet they stack ok. If we do a really wet cut then they will only be stacked 2 high
