I imagine it will be hard to say goodbye to Baylor. I hope he does well in Colorful Colorado. Zoo is doing right thing to exchange & not allow breeding with relatives. Chuck quite the character & he will be happy with new girls to impress. Please keep us updated on new babies, although they will be (to us) a long time coming!

Sooo.... take him from a mile above sea level down to zero sea level. Poor elephant. Zoos are cruel.

Actually Chuck will breathe better at sea level & probably have more energy to court the girls! Its Baylor who may find altitude a challenge but he's young & will adjust. Id rather see elephants in modern zoos than in their natural surroundings where they are subject to poaching, habitat destruction, forced labor, cruel "owners", etc.

@@barbarabrown3219 Natural surroundings would be hundreds of acres not a 1 acre cement slab. Captive elephants don't live as long as they do in their natural habitat. Zoos kill and are cruel. There are plenty of reserves and "sanctuaries in Africa where these things you speak of do not happen. Yes, SE Asia and India culturally treat their elephant populations horribly. But because they justify their cruelty in the name of tradition these countries get a pass. Temple elephants are especially brutalized by their psychopathic handlers.

@@cak4539 why are you complaining about what I said. I didn't say zoos are best option. You may have me confused with someone else.
