Right, we all know how dangerous the Afghan air force is. In fact, their stealth technology is so good that some even might say all their planes are invisible
You can’t be that dense, can you? They were referring to the danger of bailing out over Afghanistan. Which, I’m not sure if you’ve heard lately, a large portion of the populous in Afghanistan is either Taliban or Taliban sympathizers. Also, bailing out by itself is dangerous as it creates high G forces on the body, and many parts of the process can fail.
@@amnscottnn5481
I hear Trump is trying to bail out of the war after being defeated.
KatariaGujjar It’s not a war, it’s a military operation. And Trump is withdrawing troops, not bailing from the conflict. So everything about your statement is false. Good job
@@amnscottnn5481
It is a war called *War in Afghanistan (2001 - present)* . You are trying very hard to hide behind semantics. Trump is trying to bail out because he understands the war is lost but doesn't want to show the humiliation of defeat. That can be seen by the way America goes to Kuwait, sits at a round table with Taliban warlords without the presence of Afghan government officials, and begs Taliban for a peace treaty.
KatariaGujjar Wrong. Yes people call it “war in Afghanistan” but again, it’s technically not a war, but a military conflict. I’m not hiding behind semantics, just correcting you. I have no idea what my reply had to do with Trump. But Obama was the one to start withdrawing from Afghanistan, not Trump. The reason is because the government in Afghanistan is becoming more independent, compared to how it was in the early 00’s. That’s not a “loss” by any means. A loss would be if the Taliban defeated us in battles or took over cities/bases of ours. They still hide in caves and small villages, so there’s only so much you can do. It’s the problem of the Afghani government now.
How they are describing Afghan airspace as if they are flying over Soviet union during cold War.
Fun fact: Afghanistan actually won a war against the soviet union, the war lasted 10 years from 1979 to 1989. Prominent afghan commander: Osama Bin Laden. So in a way it was more dangerous than the Soviet Union.
@@homeaccount5206 Well yea but for other reasons, not that Taliban have airforce or some crazy AA defence !
@@homeaccount5206 Ummmm, Afghanistan didn't win the war against the Soviets...The TALIBAN DID...with weapons the USA supplied...and when they saw that they could defeat the mighty Soviet Union..they decided the USA was next....and then came the first WTC bombing in 1993 by Ramsey Yusef and when that didn't succeed, then they used planes on 9/11...but make no mistake..the US trained the Taliban to fight and gave them the weapons, equipment and knowledge to carry out both attacks and LOTS more...
@Arthur Humphreys Heh, Greek but i am in Uk now.
@Arthur Humphreys Maybe I'm getting influenced by them 😁
What did you do in the war Grandpa?
I passed gas.
LOL
@OptimalOptimus50 Actually, I got that from an air refueler.
I asked him what he did in the air force. He said, "I pass gas."
@OptimalOptimus50 indeed. Apparently it's a fairly typical response for these people. Any Air Force "boomers" could confirm this. As I am not in the Air Force, I don't know for certain it's correct.

@@kovac7855 Not a Dad joke. Air Force joke.
Thankfully the pilot didn’t have to contend with the Afghan Airforce’s top guns while he was refueling.
🤣🤣😂

enemy skies 😂
In a conventional war? Yeah they'd tell the guy good luck and not bother. The only thing they had to worry about are possible SAMs.
It's hard to get those pigeons in formation.
That wasn't a story. It was a sentence: "A tanker kept refueling a malfunctioning fighter jet until they made it to the airport!"
Wow that must have been hard to make that that dramatic
Bail over hostile territory isn’t exactly fun.
But then as the pilot attempted to land the wind jostled his aircraft as Canadian geese flanked him from behind! But it turned out to be just a gust of wind and they don’t have Canadian geese in Afghanistan so the pilot was able to make a smooth landing....BUT THEN....!!!
Do you not understand that they saved the pilots life.
@@adastra3492 So let's use dramatic music, a deep voiced narrator and hype it up.
@@MrShortfastloud Well they deserve the hype so.....

What was so glorious in this?? These dudes must be high af
Not really. Aerial refueling is quit dangerous, and they had to be in that position for over half an hour (that’s a long time to fly in that close proximity while constantly taking on flammable jet fuel). If that didn’t happen, the pilot would’ve had to punch out over hostile territory (and may never be heard from again). I’m a pilot by the way.
This is how the USA has made documentaries for nearly 30 years. Also, it's cute how they're pretending like Afghanistan/Taliban had any weaponry that could shoot down those aircraft at those altitudes.

He'd have more chance of being taken out by pigion than the "enemy".
yes
People do not seem to realize how difficult and dangerous it is to fly like that for a long distance. This was exceptionally well done.
AAR is obviously difficult and the pilot probably needed to stay concentrated for quite long not to disconnect. But what we're making fun of is the over dramatization, because I'm pretty sure you can't shoot a rpg to planes flying above 20-30000 feet
First thing they teach you in inflight refueling specialist school is a warning in the manuals: "flying two airplanes in close vertical proximity is not safe."
"Thank you for fueling with Air Merica today, your total is $7500"
Normal mid air refueling is hard enough as it is, and to do that for extended period of time and over distance while in enemy airspace is, to say the least, is simply brave.. My compliments to both the aircrew..
So humble, while he's exhibiting the epitome of courage and professionalism, I'm glad they're on our side
My father was a crew chief in the 80's and serviced KC-135s. He kept them flying, so they could keep others flying.
Much respect to your dad
Why are they acting like they're in major danger from hostile activity in the air over Afghanistan. If I recall correctly - which I know I do - there were no recorded aircraft flew by the Taliban? I'd say they're pretty safe from any enemy fire. Just your standard American with no good war stories and hyping up a fueling fault. Did this hero get a medal?
That's mainstream media for you. This right here is why we literally ignore them.
Actually there are recorder aircraft flown by the taliban. *but that was in the usa*
Spoken by someone who never served there country or spent a day in the middle east!
Outstanding performance and significant results. The air crew of the KC 135, I think should be commended. The F16 pilot fine flying thru a hostile corridor.
potentially hostile is a better word. No SAM defense , and i'm not even sure the threat from AAA was even there. How many AAA gun's even wound up being smuggled from Pakistan ? and if we saw it you can bet we bombed it immediately.
@@mcgman8058 Good points, although I fought over there, they were getting all types of dated military equipment.

Those soldiers are the HEROES, that deserves the same medals the fighter pilots get for saving marines & soldiers lives. 0:50 "Over enemy territory, you're gong to have some danger" No. You're not. You do refuelling at a height they can't touch. It's perfectly safe from anyone shooting at you. There is literally nothing that can fire at you at that height.
yeah they just exaggerate everything
The Kc-135 used up thousands of gallons of fuel to keep that plane afloat, worth every single drop to save one pilot.
Not even that, the money it would cost to replace and recover that bird too.
And a multimillion dollar airplane.

Amazingly skilled pilots, you all are worthy of praise👏👏👏👏
I feel like all the people commenting about how “over dramatic” this is are failing to realize the EXTREME danger a pilot would be in after bailing over hostile territory in Afghanistan. This isn’t like Call of Duty where you’ll land in a nice tree, cut yourself down and have an M4 with 300 rounds and a side arm, plus grenades. You’re landing with almost nothing, with almost zero idea where exactly you are, or who saw you land.
Well said finally a mature person.
Wouldn't they just pick him up in a chopper?
@@thedevilsadvocate5210 yep... this guy thinks that there is just enemy soldiers everywhere and the pilot would not be able to choose where he lands or even have a radio to call for help
@@user-tr2dh4xx6u do you not understand SAM Domes? Choppers can't just "fly in" anywhere in hostile territory. It takes careful planning and caution to successfully save pilots lost is hostile territory. That's why we have the USAF Pararescue, guys that are arguably better trained than SEAL's.

I can hardly imagine a more dangerous task than continuous air refueling in these circumstances.
Great work👍✈️
Even the most routine mission carries danger for the armed forces. The ones in the air maybe the most. My respect and thanks to these Americans.
In 1982, at "Guerra de las Malvinas" (Falkland's war), an argentinian KC 130 crew leave his (safe) "refuelling zone" over the south Atlantic, and flew penetrating the war zone over Malvina's Islands, to "rescue" a badly damaged A4 who need to fly 700 km over the south Atlantic (almost no bailout's rescue possible) to reach his airbase in continental Argentina. The A4 caugh the KC's refuelling probe when panel indicates "zero" fuel on A4's fuel gauges (engine still running ... by seconds), and they fly together, refuelling permanently almost an hour, loosing fuel from A4's numerous holes until they achieves the airbase's vertical in the continent, saving the plane and his pilot.
I remember I climbed inside the rear refueling station of a C-130 at an air base. I couldn’t imagine sitting there all day.
That version of the F16 costs $18.8 million dollars. Thanks for saving the pilot and aircraft.
